They should have had it for nurses at Michigan Veterans Homes. Pensions should never have been taken away from them. It seems like caring for prisoners is more important to the state than caring for vets. I don't begrudge the officers if they get it, but don't forget the nurses.

We need to get Congress to restore Tribal Treaty Hunting and Trapping Rights to Yellowstone Park. Wolves kill and eat people. Wolf Terrorism is a Livestock Insurance scam. Livestock Insurance was zero in 1995, $3 billion in 2023 and expected to exceed $6 billion by 2030. Wolves mostly eat immature Ungulates. So they will need to eat four to six Deer fawns rather than one mature adult animal. Mankind is the Apex Predator and part of the Wildlife on Planet Earth. Wolves belong in safe Zoos. Children should be safe to pick berries by the Creek and Fish at the Pond. Criminals in many States ignore Federal law and sale Cannabis mostly to fuel pedophile parties. Hunters should not be held liable for mistaking a Wolf from a Coyote as from 100 yards they are indistinguishable.

This is 100% TRUE! what he doesn't touch on is how just to get sleep, officers have to use their sick/annual time. There's no work/life balance. The person at the top is always in trouble for touching women. FIRE CHAPMAN! PUT SOMEONE IN CHARGE WITH MORALS AND COMMON SENSE. Like how about you INCREASE PAY, GIVE THEM THEIR PENSION and ENFORCE THE 32 HOUR RULE! Gotta ask yourself how much you'd want to be paid to have piss and shit thrown at you all day, to be spit on. To be literally held prisoner at work. They violate FMLA. THEY VIOLATE THE 32 HOUR RULE. I CANT EVEN TELL YOU THE LAST TIME MY EX HUSBAND HAD A NORMAL WORK WEEK. IT DOESNT EXIST.

The crisis is getting worse. It’s getting so bad I believe everyone who works for Mdoc feel as if they are on board a sinking ship and wonder at what point do they jump off. The state shows no care or compassion for its Correctional Officers. If they gave incentive such as a pension or healthcare after retirement many officers would stay as of now there is none.

I got involved in climate activism when a utility-scale solar development got proposed in Michigan's White River Township where our family has a cottage. The development would have covered half the Lake Michigan township's agricultural land in an area a Nature Conservancy study determined as ecologically significant. I got involved with locals working to right size the development and talked to folks on both side of the issue online and in person. I couldn't understand why a compromise couldn't be reached with local climate activists, but after conversations realized that they were suffering from eco-anxiety, extreme worry about current and future harm to the environment caused by human activity and climate change. I didn't even know that was a thing! We do need to fight climate change, but we also need to preserve our natural and agricultural lands, put more solar on rooftops and parking lots, and do it economic and ecologically smart manner. Although I agree we have a problem in Michigan with sighting these solar and wind power plants, I don’t agree that the state should be taking control of this zoning process from local governments and residents. Instead, the state should identify the best locations for these installations in brownfields, industrial and agriculturally zoned lands across the state. If solar is built on agricultural lands, it should be required that the land is also utilized for growing crops or grazing livestock in addition to solar power generation - this is called agrivoltaics. (see link 1 below). After identifying on a statewide scale proper locations for green energy development, the state should work with local governments to see proper zoning is developed which takes the local, long-term Master Plan and local concerns into account. They should provide guidelines, not take control over local zoning decisions. The state should also protect local governments from bullying and lawsuits by big businesses who are trying to quickly force these development projects upon our citizens so they can get their piece of the federal government subsidies available for these projects. The state should also be requiring parking lots over a certain size to be covered with solar canopies, like France has done. (see link 2 below) MSU has a demonstration site for effectively combining parking and solar. In addition to the state assisting local communities with developing proper zoning for these installations, they should also be identifying inappropriate locations for such utility-scale green energy development statewide. The Nature Conservancy has released such a regional study which includes Michigan that identifies ecologically sensitive areas inappropriate for utility-scale solar and wind development. (see link 3 below) This sort of development should be spread around the state and close to the urban areas where it is needed instead of in remote, rural areas. There should also be caps on the percentage of agriculturally zoned land and total percentage caps of the township/city. 3% of agriculturally zoned land is the figure many keep referring to in these discussions, but this is a statewide figure. Maybe utility-scale solar development sizes should be capped at 10% to 15% of agricultural lands in the specific counties, cities, and townships. I am not as familiar with wind power development, but similar restrictions should be developed for that as well. Clustering these huge, utility-scale solar development in rural areas is discriminatory as well as bad business and policy. If we cover all our agricultural lands, we will have to import all our food. Also, I want to address the argument that private landowners should be able to do whatever they want with their property. We have Zoning and Master Plans that guide the use of our lands and protect the development rights of all landowners and citizens. Part of the issue with building utility-scale solar on agricultural lands is that it is not agricultural use - it is industrial (see link 4 below). If the farmer wanted to build a coal power plant or manufacturing plant on their property, they would have to get a change in zoning or special use permit. They must do the same with utility-scale solar because it is not farming. Lastly, the rollout of solar energy is an opportunity to democratize our power grid. Solar makes the most sense at the point of power need. There should be panels installed at every residence, business location and government office. Local installation is more efficient and reliable. It both minimizes power loss in transmission and is more reliable than transporting power hundreds of miles over our electrical grid.
