Show Notes: Episode Summary: In this week’s episode of the LinkedIn Ads Show, host AJ Wilcox introduces LinkedIn's groundbreaking new feature-Website Actions-which simplifies conversion tracking and retargeting. Unlike Google or Meta, LinkedIn makes setting up conversions incredibly easy without the need for coding. AJ breaks down how this feature works, its benefits for marketers, and some challenges to be aware of.
Key Discussion Points: Website Actions Overview: Learn how LinkedIn's new feature helps track conversions by monitoring button clicks and page visits on your website, all without needing any coding skills. Why Website Actions is Groundbreaking: Unlike other platforms where you need developer assistance or complex setups, LinkedIn allows you to track button presses directly within Campaign Manager, making conversion tracking straightforward and marketer-friendly. Setting Up Website Actions for Conversions: AJ walks through the step-by-step process of setting up Website Actions to track conversions and create retargeting audiences, as well as tips for optimizing these features. Limitations and Workarounds: While Website Actions is powerful, AJ also highlights some of the bugs and limitations, such as delayed updates on page changes and reliance on cookies for retargeting. Retargeting with Website Actions: Discover how to create retargeting audiences based on specific button clicks or page visits, and learn why this feature could be a game changer for LinkedIn Ads. Wishlist for Improvements: AJ discusses potential future enhancements that could make Website Actions even more useful, like the ability to manually refresh updates or view pages as LinkedIn sees them. Additional Updates: Axiom Audiences: AJ shares exciting news about LinkedIn making Axiom audiences more accessible, allowing advertisers to use advanced targeting criteria such as household income or property value. Speaking at Inbound Conference: AJ gives a brief update about his recent speaking engagement at the Inbound Conference. Listener Review Spotlight: AJ shares a 5-star review from a listener in Italy who credits the podcast with helping them achieve significant results in LinkedIn Ads. This episode is packed with actionable insights, and is beneficial to any B2B marketer looking to enhance their LinkedIn Ads performance with the latest tools and techniques.

I loved your breakdown of LinkedIn Ads budgets! It is something that is crucial for all marketers. That said, I cannot stress enough how useful cold emailing can be. Mystrika is what I have been using for my outreach, and the warmup feature is legit. The fact that it provides A/B testing with 26 variations is a game changer. Give it a try, you would not regret it!

This is a very interesting insight! I've been struggling to figure out the right objectives for my video ads because for the longest time, I've only been using website visits because the priority for my client is to drive website traffic. My question is this though, if you put Engagement as the objective, not all of those clicks are going to the website (some are just likes, share etc.) If the priority is traffic, would you stil recommend engagement over Website Visits? And if so, why?

Let me start by saying Thanks a lot for your wonderful short tutorials. It has given me confidence in LinkedIn marketing and more. Its 3 years now but I am still looking forward to your videos. I have recently noticed something that I would like to ask. In my campaign performance report I see double entries for multiple campaigns. I am not running multiple ads, these are sponsored posts (post boost) so I do not know why I see 2 entries for them. I am looking forward to understand the Ads spend on each post by LinkedIn these 2 entries have different values but the total comes out to be my campaign budget. They why 2 values? Can you explain?

  • @amilav.5694

I was trying to go low with some of my campaigns. But, every time I would enter the minimum I wanted to start with, LinkedIn would warn me that I had to increase it because of the audience I was targeting and competitors. So I ended up with an 80-100$ per day. It was a lead-generation campaign targeting companies with the size of 5k - 10k+ and decision-makers “super-titles” (no uploaded list). Seems like when it comes to this objective, and going after “super” companies and titles, the low bid doesn't exist. 😅

I pull the conversions fields into the Values section of the pivot table and it will add them. There's click through conversions, view through conversions, and then both of those add together to give you your "Conversions" column in LinkedIn's data. I tend to only pay attention to click-through conversions, so I bring in only that column, and then do my calculations based on that.

@@AJWilcox Thank you very much. I´ll try to do it. it would be nice, if you could do a video on that. I struggle a bit with the metrics. I learn a lot with your videos. Also, I mixed up lead and conversions

Thanks for the video. Do you know if LinkedIn changed their algorithm in 2024? In our 2023 campaigns, we were getting CTR well above 1% (3% to 5%) but the same campaigns now are in the 0.5% to 1.2%. Perhaps they saw your video and fixed their own stuff?

I don't think anything changed with LinkedIn's auction or bidding since the start of the year. I can think of 2 things that might affect it: 1. If they're the same campaigns and same ads that were running before, we definitely see audiences tiring of them and we need to freshen ads up and give them variety or the campaigns tank. 2. Recently, Thought Leader Ads and Document Ads are performing so well with 3%-8% CTRs that everything that used to be a good performer is taking lower inventory to make room for them. Could either of those explain what you're seeing?

@@AJWilcox I don't think it is #1. Our campaigns are run one state at a time (long story), when we switched to 2024, boom, a drop. That being said, you might be right. I will give it a try just to be sure. #2. Yeah that might be it. Thanks for the quick reply.

It really worth spending time on watching and re-watching this video for at least two times. Highly recommend it for everyone who really cares of their LinkedIn ads performance. This is the first time I saw a really good and useful and meaningful video from where I learnt something new despite my 10+year experience in paid traffic. You did it awesome, AJ ! The only question I have is about the assumption that the performance of the same will remain if its bidding options changes from CPM to CPC. I feel like LinkedIn will show ads to different people, so regardless the same ad, its CTR will change.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm so glad you appreciated the depth in the video. Good question about the performance differences between the bidding methods - it really comes down to the ad's CTR performance. If it has a great CTR (and hence, a high Relevancy Score), then no matter how you bid, it's going to be served in the best inventory. If the ad's CTR is poor, then Max Delivery is still going to pay to put it in the highest slots, but low, manual bidding will stick it in slots way further down the feed.

Thank you for your videos I was reading your article’s on LinkedIn and now I’m your TH-cam fan. I have a question: When I’m lowering budgets should I extend the audience for better performance? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations by biding price or budget and audience sizes. Thx
