Beautiful! Where is the top?
Still at the clients, i unfortunately never got to see the two united.

No top?...I have a feeling that a piece of marble or some other decorative slab may have been in place, though such a weight might also be risky...good colour, and not over-restored...dgp/uk
Why do people not talk in video? Tell us about the piece of furniture and explain the process of what they are doing. It's like watching a silent movie. Boring.
I like the new lion claw feet better. The originals splayed out too far and looked like an afterthought. 👍
The woodwork restoration is excellent. The gold is too yellow and shiny for the table. It should be glazed a little with stain to tone down the color.
Watching you apply the gold leaf was so satisfying. Its a stunning piece of furniture!
Simply fantastic!🎉🎉🎉
Got the age wrong 1880s victorian
Thanks for the info!
What a difference you made the chair is breathing a sigh of relief at being clean and shiny again 😊 I am sure once it has been reupholstered it will also feel a little less naked 😂😂 It definitely will go with the clients desk now and I bet that desk is equally as opulent looking 😊
Wow that is some impressive carving skills 😮🤩 Both chairs wood sections looked lovely once finished. I imagine the cane or upholstery will be completed by a specialist 😊 Altogether a beautifully done restoration and the customer seemed so pleased with the first result he brought you the second to show off your skills even more 😊
Lovely little box 😊 someone took a lot of time to paint the dog on the top. I like the fact that you did the repairs but when finishing you kept as much of the original patina and age as possible 😊 I liked the paper you put in 😊
Really nice table I loved the result and yes material is a different choice but I suspect it was a customer request same with the dark colour (I liked it myself) and the customer is always right in these situations. I have one question and please forgive my ignorance but you said the the table was mahogany but when you stripped the legs they looked very pale in comparison more like a lighter wood eg birch, poplar etc. was it different or just badly bleached? Finally can I make one request ditch the AI voice over better just a written description. Just a personal thing I understand you may not wish to speak (I wouldn't want to 😂) but an AI sounds awful.
Very observant about the woodcolor: it is definately not a cuban mahogany or a high quality mahogany wood. As happend in the 19 century they took an inferior mahogany, paler and less dense and dyed it to a purpleish brown color. It was an artificial dye so after some sanding, the natural light color apeared. And you are right about the AI voiceover: you try but not everything is a succes😜
Where is the sound ?
I have to admit that this is my favourite video and piece I have watched on your channel so far. The wardrobe was absolutely gorgeous and if I could ever own one like it I would be so proud 😊 I loved the fact I could hear the process, the detail you showed of fixing the bubble in the veneer, the filling, the cleaning of the brass (think it was brass and also wow wasn't it filthy and so satisfying to see it clean up) and the never ending french polishing - I mean this part in a good way as you showed how long and how meticulous the process is but WOW the results were stunning 😍🤩 if I hadn't already subscribed THIS video would have had me pressing that button thank you 😊
Wow 😲 so much brass (I am assuming it is brass?) I know a particular TH-camr who would love seeing that much brass in a piece, he always likes to make aure he adds some brass to his pieces HOWEVER his stuff is NOT antiques like these. Absolutely stunning I will admit it's maybe a bit too flashy for my taste but the burl on that wood is so beautiful 😍. If I was a billionaire maybe I would have a home with pieces like that in it 😂
😂
So much attention to detail needed 😮 from colour matching to fine brush painting takes a lot of patience and knowledge to do something like this 😊
Absolutely beautiful 🤩
Came up in my recommended and I am so glad it did as that was impressive. Some excellent colour matching skills and so steady a hand 😮 I saw the lions feet gilding table first (sorry forgot to comment on that one) and was so impressed I had to watch more 😊 I have subscribed and will be checking the rest of your videos out once I am out of my meeting 😊
Thanks for your kind comments!
Saw the EXACT same table at antiques shop the other week! With the same crack and tilted legs. It’s from England.
No sound?
Sorry, i’ve experienced some technical difficulties with uploading this video and sound. I’ll try to correct it.
The table top is swinging. Is that how it's meant to be?
The table has a turnable tabletop originally which is quite rare, folding tables are much more common. But at the end of the restoration i decided, with consent of the client off course, to fix it permanently to because the movement was too great.
ja, daß das spaß gemacht hat, sieht mann am ergebniß ..... kannst du diese kunst denn an jüngere personen weitergeben ( ausbildung ) oder bist du der letzte deines standes ?
Thanks for the kind comment, this restoration was great fun! There are still young people getting educated in restoration thankfully but i feel it’s becomming more theory over practise.
Beautiful ❤
That is impressive!
Awesome job! I love how you carved that claw foot! Can I ask where you are located?
Thanks for hour kind comments. I am located at Weesp, the Netherlands.
@TheRestorationGuyArie ahhh, a bit far away from me lol. I love your work!
I love how you restored this beautiful, old table. I think the gilding was my favorite part! So tedious, but gorgeous after it's done!
My mother had a table like that but larger. She had it cut down for a coffee table. I still have it in my home. Beautiful wood!👍🥰
I know a lot of people frown upon alterations on antique furniture. There is another way of looking at it: when it’s done with love and respect, it lengthens the lifespan of a piece by making it still relevant for these modern days, just like the coffeetable of your mother is still in use!
✅ Thanks for all the support! This was personally a very special piece. Do you think I did a good job? Let me know your thoughts, and ps, don't forget to subscribe, so you never miss a new video! Click here for more 👉🏼 www.youtube.com/@TheRestorationGuyArie?sub_confirmation=1
Xin chào 👋👋
Beautiful, I am curious however on your choice of the real gold leaf and the many imitations out there?
There is no comparison between accual gold leaf and coper leaf. Coper leaf it’s thicker, so little ripples are unavoidable. Copper leaf also needs a coating which takes away from the shine and feel, because coper tarnishes without a coating.
Wunderschön geworden, aber die Spannung ist raus, da zu Anfang das Ergebnis gezeigt wird. In der finalen Sicht könnte man denSchrank in voller Schönheit mit zeigen
Excellent!!!
It looks absolutely great.. Way awesome restoration!!
I think you need to leave the captions on longer so we can actually read it
I like the finish very pretty
Thanks, that’s very good feedback. I’ll keep it in mind making my next video.👍😘
I think it looked better without the gold trim, although that mkes it look elegant
Very beautiful job
Amazing color matching on the repairs! The top is like a MIRROR! AWESOME RESTORATION!
Beautiful table. Awsome job!
Even though the final outcome is beautiful you failed to show: 1- how you made this shine? what did you use and what exactly is French polishing? 2- how did you install the new claws 3- how did you make to top rigid and stop wobbling. there was no carpentry involved; just artistic makeup.
Gorgeous restoration, and your attention to details is superb!
I don’t like it when the first picture shows the old and new finish…why watch if I’ve already seen the finished product?
I watch it, to see the steps from beginn to result.
Perhaps you are not a person who does furniture restoration, but I'm sure many who watch are interested in how he gets from beginning to end. It's helpful to learn from other people's work when learning something new.
Beautiful job. I would have left out the gold gilding though
I feel it is an integral part of the restoration of the table though.
