I’m sorry that religion has taken you away from Jehovah and stumbled you greatly. It’s traumatic. But know this, it’s only because of Jehovah’s love that you’ve been able to experience love with this beautiful woman. To say that Jehovah has done nothing for you, well, that just isn’t true. We know Jehovah will act at His appointed time. What relationship is it if we “serve God” (and let’s be frank, what is it we do for God really? Think about it. Knocking on doors? I mean he doesn’t even need us to do that. Say half hearted prayers? 🥱) just to serve ourselves and get everlasting life? Do we really love God? Are we only in this relationship for what we can get out of it? Do we really love God? How does He know that we really do love Him? Please don’t abandon Jehovah because of 9 self appointed false prophets who have blood on their hands and who Jehovah will judge. We are in the “last days”, just look around the world, all religions can see it and are expecting it. Please don’t turn your back on Jehovah. He’s done more for you than you’re giving Him credit for. Peace brother ✨

Thanks so much for your heartfelt comment. But, respectfully, I disagree. I'm 100% certain that Jehovah doesn't exist. Even if there is a god, it definitely isn't Jehovah. Jehovah is a fictional character that the Governing Body uses as an avatar to give themselves authority, just like the man behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz.

Yes elders = crazy. My ex was a pioneer an 'exemplary Witness' etc, this crazy b**ch was finally arrested by Police, removed, prevented from return, convicted in court (domestic abuse) and multi year restraining order etc...... elders were on her side 100%, would not even talk to her about her conduct (I have emails proving all this). My conduct by contrast was indeed exemplary as I was 'enduring to the end' and all that stuff. Oh yes evil exists within Watchtower big time. So, many thanks and congratulations - just try and avoid the many egotistical and entitled women out there that never grow up, as a guy just go your own way and you'll be healthier, happier and wealthier. Good luck.

Another excellent episode, Riley! I was one of the opposite: I knew about the YT channel, but not the podcast until a few weeks ago. Anyway, thanks for being vulnerable and allowing us into your personal affairs. Your experience with the elders emphasizes again that they are NOT licensed, trained counselors! They do more harm than good. Ironically, I am seeing more and more ex-JWs who ARE licensed and trained on TH-cam, in marriage and family counseling and even relgious trauma.

Hi Riley, thanks for this great video on this topic!!! I think Adam and Eve were never meant to live forever, they had to eat from the tree of life. Because of their sin they were not allowed to eat anymore, so through sin came death! In the new world everyone will eat from the fruit of the tree of life again and live forever! Everyone also means "the anointed in heaven" (Rev 2:7, 22:2, 14). When I was in the org I thought that Adam would live forever if he didn't sin because God told him the day you eat you will die! So if he didn't eat he would never die!!! But that is not logical. It's like telling someone don't touch this wire. The day you touch it you will get electrocuted and die. So if he never touches this wire he will never die? Of course not! It is the Org's indoctrination that made us think so wrongly and illogically...

Being raised in this cult is damaging especially to a child I have stories that could still land my mother in jail to this day my father has already passed but I can't have children because of the abuse that both of them put on me even though we were a family of 13 children all of us homeschooled at one time or another all of us on assembly programs in North Carolina they used to call us the kushites because there were so many of us my mother and father were functioning alcoholics with high positions in the congregation my father was an elder he presided over the Theocratic Ministry School my mother was a full-time pioneer so much gossiping we could not tell what was going on in our household the only time a sister which was my best friend even though she was older than me found out the abuse that we were going through was when I was on the phone with her and my father came home early and started beating us and I was so scared that I forgot to put the phone on the hook and she heard everything and everything made even more sense when we were forced to go to the Kingdom Hall that night with busted lips black eyes bloody noses no one said anything except for her not one of us 13 children are affiliated with this religion even though my mother is still hanging in there all of us are either disfellowship or inactive and then let's talk about The Homeschool my father named The Homeschool Bethel homeschool and use books from the Bible Watchtower and tract Society as part of our curriculum and when I had had enough of being abused at the age of 17 a regular Pioneer mind you I went to the elders and told them that I was leaving and of course they had several questions and because I had not finished my 12th grade year in our homeschool my parents withheld my diploma me and my older sister's diploma from us so anyway they were determined to break us but because karma works the way that it works when I left at 17 I didn't know that I would be coming back to take care of my very sick father who died in 2017 and help raise my three younger siblings because when I left at 17 the idea was never to come back and what you guys said in this video is absolutely correct it's all about your appearance what this organization thinks of you I remember being in the second grade and being punched in my face and dropped off at a abandoned graveyard because I took Halloween candy after being deprived of dinner the night before at 12:00 at night now imagine in the second grade and your father pushing you out the car and saying you like to worship the dead get out and be with them and driving off I still remember the house that I ran to across the street from the graveyard I find myself getting very angry when I think about how very narcissistic and entitled to feel that you still deserve your children's Allegiance and loyalty and this religion deserves their loyalty and Allegiance as well when so many heinous things were done to us as children I was beat in my genitals, food deprived, sleep deprived beat on the bottom of my feet and I'm just naming things that happen to me personally and when I finally broke down and told my husband what I had been through he couldn't believe it as someone that was worldly and never a religious type of person he was disgusted he didn't want to be in my parents company he didn't want to be around my family and he definitely didn't want to be around the religion and now that I'm in therapy I can't blame him the reverse psychology that goes on in this religion is just crazy and the fanaticism is even crazier and they still think that their name has no blood or no suffering on it I was 14 when I got baptized and we were threaten that we couldn't get our. Diver's permit unless we got baptized I was 16 when I became a Pioneer and during that 2 weeks of training I had to come home after the first week and remember getting beat down physically by my father at my mother's request because she wanted to make sure that I wasn't running my mouth about the abuse that was going on in our household! Thank you for doing this podcast it's good to know that I'm not alone!

100 correct that's why I made a intentional decision and choice to marry someone that was not a Jehovah's Witness and after 9 years he has opened my eyes to a lot of things like attending therapy which I so desperately needed because I was existing in fight or flight mode from the abuse of being raised in a JW household the night terrors the phantom pain the PTSD anxiety depression Stockholm Syndrome among so many other things that I deal with because of being raised in this guilt mongering fear-mongering cult my husband is definitely my place of peace and my Saving Grace to wake me up to know that I don't need any man-made religion to be a morally healthy person and exist in my immediate reality as a healthy individual concentrating on my household I've been disfellowshipped for 5 years and I now have no trespassing signs on our property because I don't wish to have their company I don't wish to reconnect none of that because it's detrimental to my mental health and those are the boundaries that I have set! Wishing everyone that sees this a successful healing Journey

One of the things the enslaver did to the enslaved in the South was to not tell them their birthday. I just read this in the novel "The Underground Railroad" last month during my birthday trip to Boston. 😬 It fits your argument. And yes, I'm picking a lighter subject matter next time. 😂

It’s hard to believe but in order to lead the “organization”, the GB needs to be true believers, all of them. It would be an overwhelming mental torment to lie and smile and pretend to be a true believer. There are psychological factors to prevent them from waking up even they saw so many suffering. At the end, they only saw numbers and reports, not the actual suffering. Ray Franz is the exception of the exceptions. It’s not even unique to JWGB, but likely all cult leaders. These cult leaders have to make extraordinary claims, so they have to extremely confident that what they said are true, and so they have to be true believers. Lying takes lots of more brain power. If you try to lie while having a FMRI scan, the FMRI will show significant more blood flows through your brain than usual. You can’t lie whole day long every day for long, it’s just way too much for a human. The GB definitely should be jailed, but to be fair, they believe what they said. There are psychological factors to make them think they didn’t lie even they are lying through their teeth.
