      @ohioknifelover 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Back when They first started gaining traction you could find them from $25-40 depending on the seller. I purchased mine from a flea market vendor who was an actual retailer down in Florida

  • @vtxdaryl
    @vtxdaryl 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You definitely need to spray everything with Silicone spray before reassembling it. The knife is not supposed to be so dry, you could even wash everything in hot water and Dawn dishwashing liquid, dry it off and then put Silicone spray on everything and just take some Qtips and wipe the Silicone into all the rails and lubricate the springs. Also lubricate under the thumb button. Doing those things will make it last forever and won’t wear out the thumb button from using too much thumb pressure. I have 3 Elites and the blades on all three occasionally stuck halfway out but after cleaning and lubricating and also taking 1500 grit sandpaper and polishing the metal parts it feels totally different than a brand new one. If you wanted too you could put some blue Locktite on the handle screws and they won’t come loose. Move to Florida after you get your knife polished and lubricated and you will be able to Freely carry it almost anywhere you want.

    • @ohioknifelover
      @ohioknifelover 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I very well could have but it was meant to be a quick disassembly and maintenance. It is a very good point in sanding everything down to be smoother but for a sub $40 knife when I purchased it the materials aren't the best quality. If it were an Elite like yours I would have lubed everything!

    You missed a key point that you would have encountered if you had taken it completely apart, as you would if you were replacing the scales. The pivot barrel is D-shaped. It doesn’t appear D-shaped, because the center barrel is not D-shaped. All that is D-shaped is the part that passes through the liner, on each end of the barrel, that only on one side, and TINY, and easy to overlook. It is also difficult to see the corresponding flat in the liner! That was the only part of the disassembly that puzzled me for a few minutes!

      I recommend using one small drop of blue removable threadlocker, doesn't matter what brand really, on the pivot screw of the knife to keep the blade from loosening up on you! It all depends on your specific knife because I've had a couple models of the same knife come loose and some that didn't. I used a gun oil by the name of Hoppe's no 9 which is cheap and works well. I now use Knife Pivot Lube and it has been my favorite for a while now! I hope this helps!

    I usally dont where make-up not my thing... Also when you put your kinfe in the holder & tighten down the screws & the gap on the side on the holder should be the same from the front to the back if not instead of being at 20 degrees now your at like 23 degrees & next time you sharpen your knife you might be at 19 degrees so that gap does matter I think the lansky directions says to make sure that gap is the same

I grabbed the spring and it leg go against my fingers.....hurts like a sonofabitch LOL. That's a nice, thick spring. Took me a bit to finally figure out you have open the blade to disassemble/assemble these things. Trying to put it back together in the closed position is damn near impossible. You are using the lowest degree on a pocket knife? 17 degree is gonna be sharp as those are recommended for fillet knives or used by sushi chefs (19 degrees), but if you want better wear out of it I recommend 25-30 degrees. Sharpen it at 25-30 degree down to where you can shave hair, that would be more ideal. Easiest way to show this is get an Edge on up sharpness measure, and test it at 17 degree and 30 degrees. Sure you might reach a lower initial sharpness reading at 17 degrees than 30 degrees, but run the same blade through maybe 100 cuts of the same cardboard, you’ll find that the 17 degree will quickly get dull much faster than the 30 degree. This is the reason why sushi chefs sharpen their knives before they work everyday, versus doing the same sharpening on a pocket knife, because who wants to bust out sharpening stone on their pocket knives every day?

    • @ohioknifelover
      @ohioknifelover 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually sharpen my blades around 20° per side but depending on the job I'm doing I sharpen to what I've found to work best. For cardboard the lower the degree the easier it is for me personally to cut a large amount rather than 30° per side because it tends to not stay as sharp.

    I don't like allot of colors on a knife. But that looks bad ass.

    I hear people say you can't even carry it with the clip it comes with. I disagree. I don't mind the clip at all. I like 2 have something 2 grab onto. I'm not a huge fan of deep carry. I guess it would just depend on the knife.
