    21:59 you got the. Thanks for not saying "you've got" You know why you got that. I really appreciate this Doctor's, grammar. Better than most. 23:08 I actually think the New York accent is born from British. Especially the the intrusive r, and elusive r.

  • @user-dq6pm6sg8z
    @user-dq6pm6sg8z หลายเดือนก่อน

    Intrusive R, exists in Britain as well. Do not break the LAW. Law Enforcement becomes Lore Enforcement. (Apparently, when a word ends in a vowel, or open vowel sound like Law; then is followed by another word starting with a vowel, the R is inserted... So for New Yorkers, to say idea(r) , or as Tony Danza, would say, Angela (Angeler)... Is a mystery. For some Brits, you have some example: Gorilla Warfare Or Goriller Ambush

    I love regional accents and appreciate them all. To me a regional accent is to speech what spices are to food. An accent makes speech more interesting and gives information about the speaker. I'm from Queens, NY. I used to be able to identify the borough. When I left NYC in the 1990s I hated NYC by then, especially after Dinkins did his best to ruin it. For years I hated everything to do with NYC; seeing NY license plates, hearing a NYC accent, etc. After some years away in MA, CA and rural FL, I moved to southeast FL and hearing NYC accents again was like music. Today the NYC accent is almost extinict. Like Billy Joel's swan song about NYC, "Miami 2017", NYC is populated by people from everywhere else; rich hipsters, financial industry people, and who knows who else.

    This trailer is almost 15 years old. But even in 2008, the old NY accent was dying. It was on life support with the the idiots on the Jersey Shore show and Everybody Loves Raymond. If you notice, everyone in this clip is of an older generation. Today, the typical NY accent is Spanish. Yeah, there are a lot of Indians, West Indians, Asians, Russians, etc. But the immigrant parents keep their native accents, but their American born children grow up sounding neutral. It seems only the Latinos perpetuate an accent. And of course African Americans, who's accent is their own and has changed little in 100 years. Someone will probably have a problem with what I just said.
