Went to CS school. Took a bunch of Calc and whole lot of math classes with no practical use. Just pure theory. Math would be more fun if they taught it practically. Another example, had to take Stats, but my professor told me no Python allowed. Just Ti 84. Where’s the motivation to learn it?

I guess it all depends on the role and specialty as there are a lot of different tech roles out there esp MLOps Engineer which is essentially a DevOps Engineer that focuses on deploying ML models into production which wouldn't use little to no math. They help retrain the models, test them and deploy that's part of ML and SDLC.

Hey guys! I’m trying to figure out - when building with LLMs, does knowing the math actually make things better?
It depends. If you already know some math for neural nets, you should be okay. If you know absolutely 0 math related to ML, I would highly recommend at least some intuition on math.
people recommend linear algebra, calculus and statistics for ai newbies but most people don't even know algebra or pre algebra properly
That’s true as well.

I’m a neuroscientist. I know Python for data analysis and want to learn machine learning. So I decided to learn math for ML. I picked the book “MATHEMATICS FOR MACHINE LEARNING Marc Peter Deisenroth A. Aldo Faisal Cheng Soon Ong” what do you think about that book? It’s also free online. The authors released the free pdf book. Can’t be more thankful!
I haven’t read it much but it’s good for all basic ML for sure. It lacks a few concepts though. Certainly lacks NN and DL.
@@ChemCoder404 Thank you for your comment. Which books would you recommend? I thought this one provided a solid foundation of math for ML.
You are correct, math is generally skipped over in ML courses. Deep and thorough knowledge of complex math is assumed.
Yup. Math goes a long way in ML.
Nothin as such, compnaies dont know what to to do with ai/ml, as developing a chatbot hardly takes 30 days & for ml algorithms already we have enough python scikint learn libraries which does, enough of one person to properly analyse .
Does humankind have mathematically intuitive proof yet on how DNNs are able to overcome overfitting, even as the number of input parameters and the number of layers increase exponentially ?
I don’t think so. A decent idea though exists. More data. Diverse data. Which is sorely lacking.
Please help with maths bro. Books or course, roadmap

Thanks a lot. Which is best relevant resource for learning math for ML
I would start with one of courses I mention in the video. From Coursera.
Thanks 🙏 your tips. I have used Khan Academic a lot to learn Linear Algebra and Calculus but I have lot to learn in Statistics. I am senior and enjoying playing with Neural Networks but I still have holes 🕳️ in my math skills and knowledge. So you’re video inspiring me to continue learning and practice more of pure math 👍🙏❤️✅😄
Keep going! You got this!
Andrew Ng's ML and DL course goes relatively deep into the math
Yes it does.
Udemy + coursera = cheap success all fake
Not really. As a beginner, those are some of the best resources you have especially if you’re not in college to learn ML. Thank you for sharing your opinion though.
