MEMORIES OF THE VIETNAM WAR 1966 1967
มุมมอง 1682 ปีที่แล้ว
PICTURES I HAD TAKEN WHILE SERVING IN VIETNAM, 1966 AND 1967. I WAS A FORWARD OBSERVER WITH THE FRIST OF THE FIFTH CAV. BASED IN AN KEH NEXT TO HONG KONG MT.
Bobby was a classic

Greatest song of all time as far as I'm concerned. And I'm a metal head lol. RIP Gordon
this is a real beautiful song it really touches me
Absolutely fantastic!
rip Edmund Fitzgerald crew and Gordon lightfoot
Those pictures are as haunting as the song. It's unimaginable what it would be like to be on lake superior in a hurricane at night.
Every year I ring the bell 29 times that I have hanging on my porch. I live in AZ. I will ring it 30 times now.
Thank you for a great video - a lot of work went into that. RIP Mariners.
She’s truly the titanic of the Great Lakes. RIP to the 29 men who went down with her. Also RIP Gordon Lightfoot your music and legacy will last forever. 🙏🏻
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢
As a historical note - November of 1913 the Great Lakes blew up and it was the last hours for many a freighter....
Impending Doom! But we're going to give her hell
ITS SO TRUE THAT THE LAKE NEVER GIVES UP HER DEAD
EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG I GET CHILLS UP AND DOWN MY SPINE
R.I.P. to the man who makes the 29 men unforgotten........xn
Rip mr Lightfoot i love your music and always will. Thank you😢
I can only hope my legacy will live on. Whatever it may be. RIP Gordon Lightfoot.
Thought I’ve seen everything done on the E.F. Hell here in Mich. during the month Nov. seems like it’s played on a loop. It’s sickening but this was really done well and with class.I couldn’t watch does it end the same🫣🫣🫣🫣
Every one says “it’s just a lake” until they see the violence of them lakes
the edits in this make an already incredible song ten times cooler!! 💙 🚢
❤ that was a wonderful tribute to Gordon for the church to honor him in the manner this song has always been a favorite of mine because the lyrics make me think Gordon was aboard the vessel to write the words of the song and he donated the money the song earned to the families of those who lost their loved ones aboard the Edmund fritzgerald RIP Gordon and thank you for this awesome song song and the music arrangement is amazing
A great scary true story Gordon Lightfoot has a good storytelling voice I love you Gordon Lightfoot RIP 😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🏋️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🎸🌹
rip gordon lightfoot
There needs to be a movie about this.
On the 35th anniversary of the sinking, my then-band and I performed this song, with each of our six vocalists taking a verse, and harmonizing on the seventh and last. I sang lead on the fourth verse, where the ship actually sank.
Rip gordon seen him twice
Thank you Gordon for this beautiful, haunting melody. I was a senior in high school when the song first came out, and was just mesmerized by it.
RIP both the 29 crew and Gordon Lightfoot
Lk Superior, from November to April 🥶🥶 is 1 most f dangerous bodies of water on planetstand on shore and take in those winds 🌬️🌬️
Every summer the family and I go north crossing big Mac into the Upper peninsula to visit grandpa on Drummond Island. It's a special trip that means a lot to each of us as we proceed to cross by the Drummond Island ferry. Once the ferry departs for the Island track 6 plays " The wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald ". For 30 years this tradition of bringing Gordon Lightfoot on my journey across the detour channel has been a constant reminder to me of those many mariners over the past 100 years and more that have perished taming thier vessels against odds we can't even begin to comprehend. As many before me have commented a haunting folklore tribute to the sailors who ride the edge of life and death on the great lakes still to this day. Ironically as the ferry approaches Drummond and the lift gate is lowered the masterpiece on the C D comes to the end as soon as our real journey of time off begins. Always so perfect it makes me wonder if sometime in Gordon's life he penned his great song while crossing himself to the mystery and wonder of the Gem of the Huron. Thank you Gordon for giving more color and more Love to each and everyone one of us that loved your gift of music.
Hear this from the heavens Gordon for it's where you belong 👼
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Paradise, MI presents a very moving 20 minute tribute to the Edmund Fitzgerald. And the ship’s bell is on display there. Worth a stop if you’re ever in the UP.
Thank you Gordon. God take good care of him.
The Song and the Voice Reflect the Despair on the men of the Edmund Fitzgerald and their Families; R.I.P. Mr. Lightfoot your "LEGION" will live "ON" for Infinity with this "ICONIC"song!
Why did they destroy the song with the wind sounds and junk?
RIP Gordon Lightfoot 1938-2023😔🙏💔🌹⭐!! I like the way he told that story!! Beautifully done!!
Great video - FYI ; you got a shot of the Armco @1:04
May God Bless the families of those who lost!
Beautiful voice!❤❤
The Fitzgerald sank on the 200th anniversary of the Marine Corps birth. Unfortunately she sank on such a memorable date in time. She is always remembered
Just needed the song, not all that extra stuff in it. Makes it not worth listening to.
When you see whitecaps on a lake imagine what they were seeing with winds at hurricane speed pushing water the length of Lake Superior!!!
I was in the Coast Guard stationed at Base Soo on Nov 10th 1975. I had just gotten off Watch at Lookout Station 4, speed checking ships on the St. Marie’s River. I walked into the radio room to end my watch. As I did, Ensign Havermill, Officer of the Day, was at the radio counsel with the radioman. As I walked in he turned to me and said, Maki, I think we just lost the Fitzgerald. I was assigned the next day to Yards and Docks to start logging the debris as search and rescue was being conducted. I was then going to be a spotter from a helicopter the but the search was called off. The weight of what happened was heavy on the Base. It made me sick. We trained and existed to rescue distressed mariners. This was a disaster where all we could do was pick up the pieces. A time I will never forget. I still play Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald at open mic’s. It says it all. RIP Gordon as the final page turns.
This video along with Gordon Lightfoot's song The Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald was a most moving presentation and memorial to the captain and crew of the Edmond Fitzgerald.
🙏RIP Mr. Gordon Lightfoot 😇💖 🔔"They ring the ship's bell; 30 times; now "😢💖
I Live in Colorado and recently went to a model train musem they had a model of The Edmund Fitzgerald sitting at a dock looking like it was getting loaded really cool . RIP Gordon Lightfoot
Dove this wreck with a shipyard worker that helped lay its keel 😔
Did they ever find any of the bodies of the 29 crewmen? Were the crew able to board any life boats? Was the water too freezing cold to survive? Has any heard or has any man seen of the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald?
I had heard on one of the documentaries that bodies had been found, though out of respect for the families, no photos would be released, and that the Fitz is now off limits to divers and recognized as a grave sight, as it should be
