I love performance. I want to be and perform the best I can. I also want to emphasize fun. Dirt bikes, cars, whatever, and respect people where they are at in their own journey.
A heartwarming helmet return
In this video, Franco Acerbis facilitates the return of Dane Leimbach’s helmet to return to his family. Dane and this Italian rider exchanged helmets at the end of the ISDT held in this same spot in Camerino Italy im 1974. Dane has passed, but the return of the helmet to his family, through Fred Hoess, and Jack Penton is symbolic of the impact these men had, and continue to have on the sport today.

After sending so many of these wiring kits out, it’s time to have an installation video. I tried, but I am not good at editing. Not happy it’s such a long video, but it should not take much more time to install it, than to watch the video.

Preparing for Vintage Cup 2023 in Spain. Part 1 I’ve had the suspension gone through, and the frame and all the metal white bits powder coated, which has created some challenges. The engine ran strong before we did all of this, so tuning the chassis will be next, then the engine will come back out for a complete rebuild.

Very nice gesture to be given the helmet. Enjoyed the video and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Classic. 🎉
Thanks for the video. What is that skid plate ?
Hi Mike, great videos on the CAN-AM! I have a '75 250 TNT with the Bing carb and it is over fueling and then incredibly hard to start. You mention in this video and similar issue whereby you've adjusted the needle position and the float. Can you provide some insight into which needle position is best and how to adjust the float level with half inch of air gap to mitigate this. Really appreciate it!
@@MadTinkerman I should follow up some more on this! The hot tip for 1/2” float level is to cut a piece of shrink tubing, or something that will fit under the float and stick it between the carb body and the float, with the carb off the bike, upside down in a table. Then you can tweak that little tab until it’s just right. While you’re at it, pull the emulsion tube out and clean it by hand. Simply carb dipping it won’t get all the nasty stuff off the outside of the emulsion tube, and you can’t see it unless you remove it. Done forget that choke plunger either. Unscrew it and check that rubber snubber at the bottom. If your bike is incredibly hard to start, as you know, it’s either too rich, or too lean. When your Bing is jetted just right, you will need to use the choke to cold start it.
@@roostafish961 really appreciate this info! So with the carb upside down, use the shrink tubing(or something else) between the top of the float and the carb body to achieve 1/2" distance, and then tweak the tab until you achieve that distance without the shrink tubing (shim) in place ...do I have that right? I believe the emulsion tube is just a press fit, so you push it down and out from inside the carb mouth, correct? I've replaced the carb choke plunger with new rubber so hopefully that is taken care of. My bike starts easily (when cold) on a 1 or 2 second press of the tickler with no need for choke so, based on your guidance, that is way too rich and wrong. Really appreciate the info that the bike will not start (easily) without the choke on when jetted and set up correctly. Thanks Again!
@@MadTinkerman yes. Correct on all accounts.
@@roostafish961 Amazing. Thanks so much for your help! Cheers!
Nice helmet, Arai is at the top of the food chain. Nice bike also, enjoyed the video and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
I just got compares to my KDX 200 that I wrote for years and years except it has more power in the mid. In the Low end
Woohoo!! More trails!!
I always thought the TM bikes were so awsome. In the 1990's they were all hot pink and no one in the US seemed to have one. From 1993 to 2003 racing every weekend 10months out of the year I only ever saw one. If i was to start again I would go right out and get a new TM 144cc and i would use my automotive painting skill, with some plastic adhesion promoter and paint the plastic hot pink. Hot pink with TM's bright blue color that the wheels come anodized in would look so rad
I wanted a pink one back in the 1990’s. Two friends had them, a 300, and a 125. The deal was sealed when we showed up at an ISDE qualifier and there were three dudes on pink TM 80 EN’s. Full Size, just 80cc. I was smitten.
Nice narration Mike. Cool bike for sure . That’s a YZ swing arm right ?
This is really exciting Mike. Rooting for you! 🎉. Best wishes for entire team ! Vincent “ Larry “ Savage
Fun!!! You can see / hear the passion at the end.
Great video! Wishing you the best of luck, Mike.
Nice Dirt Squirt!
Great video Mike! I'm proud to be a part of the team. Can't wait to see you in Italy.
Just did to my 09 300, like having a new bike.
Nice old t’n’t! Can-Ams are great bikes
Mine are on their way!
Such a gorgeous bike
Yep get the carb straightened out and maybe your gas mileage will increase. Enjoyed the video and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
The magazines said it was too pipey in the reviews but the faster riders loved it. I had a 79’ 175 and never stopped riding IT’s until 86’ when they stopped making them. Damn good bikes and super tough

Can Am.... one of the worst handling dirt bikes ever built.
Not my 500 ACE. It was magical thro the bush trails.
If we were talking about my 1982 250 Qualifier, I’d have to agree with you. The white tank bikes handle very well. Shocked the heck out of a lot of modern bikes at the enduro last weekend.
@@roostafish961 I did have 2 bikes that handled worse though... 1961 Greeves 250 Hawkstone and a 1975 Suzuki TM 400.
Love the Can Am's. So glad to see one being used. Worked 25 years in the largest Can Am parts seller and maybe dealer. Mcbrann cycle shed. Lots of good memories.
Can Am wasn’t really on my radar until I was asked to ride an “A” bike for the vintage enduro trophy last year. It was a good choice. Very solid engine, and an easy chassis to work with. After seeing some of the Euro brands, they may have a better chassis, but the Can Am is a solid bike. I’ll have a lot more time on the platform before this year’s race in Italy. As much as I want to always ride my modern bike, time on the vintage bikes is necessary if I’m going to be competitive. I’ll be riding this 175 and my 250 to stay comfortable on the platform until the race bike leaves for Italy.
@@roostafish961 Biggest thing I can say to keep an eye on is the kick start hub. They had a tendency to loosen up and take out the shaft.
I used to have a ACE 500 cam Am. Best dirt bike i,ve ever owned. It was the last year for Can Am bikes which was 1987. came with all the best shocks from factory like White Brothers rear shock. I told people if they can kick it over then they can take it for a ride. They were alittle surprised when they saw a left hand kick.
Cool bike would have liked to hear it run.
Next video!
Enjoyed the video, very cool bike, and glad you shared. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Is this the map switch? How does it turn into a reset switch? And also I don't have a battery in my bike. What does that change?
It is not a map switch. This simply arms the ECU to prevent the power valve from resetting on every restart. If you don’t have an Fi bike, it’s not necessary.
Thank you, just purchased a 23-left-over EN-300 I hope I made a good decision?? Allen

Handsome bike! I just got a 79 model and the exhaust baffle is gone and bike it’s obnoxiously loud. Found an original OEM baffle and waiting for it to arrive. Right now, I don’t know what is involved in the installation of the baffle. Thanks
Great videos! Picking up a new to me 21 en250fi. I'd like to order that switch if you have any made. I've been on orange for the past ten years. A bit nervous 😬
Looks like lots of other vintage bikes in the back, ive got 1 IT465 and 2 250's, guy i work with has a 175 in similar condition original, gonna tune it up for him in the spring
Stunning looking bike.
Thank you, it’s been a great bike. Happy to get the limited edition.
KL250 16bhp Weak cam oiling and they bend the 18.25" rear shock shafts. I'm useless offroad but when racing this I'm half decent. In fact I have a Dick Mann and C&J both TT500 and in the woods they pull me all over the place; so I'm only going to compete on my two KLXs in future
Awesome Bike
Cheers for this! How is the bike treating you over all? Really considering a 23/24 en250 carb as an upgrade from my 2019 en144. How does the new chassis feel compared to the 19-21 chassis?
one of the best for enduro my cousin have same bike berry berry good cycle
Thanks for the opportunity to stare at that bike for 19 minutes! hahaha
Hideous looks like something out the early 90’s….
couldn't you change the colours after youve bought it cause it only costs £850 in the uk
I almost did that, but the more I looked, the more I saw. There are a bunch of gold/bronze bits all over, which I guess isn’t a huge deal, but changing the blue seat over to purple, and then needing to switch out the blue rims made it worth getting the limited edition for me. And it was available with a carburetor, bonus.
@roostafish961 personally, I'm probably going to change it. I'll buy it for the price, then learn everything about bikes through it and change some colours
tm has such great italian build quality and handling to match
Where did you order your TM? Love the color way!

@@roostafish961still digging it? Looking at picking one up! Wish I could find a pink one!
verry verry cool ,one my lady
Your it is peelin off😂
That’s what happens when you race them. Those decals don’t last long.
whats it like at high speeds all my 300rr mates say they aren't stable at all?
Honestly, I’ve only ridden it in the woods, but will likely get a chance to ride it at higher speeds later this year when we venture to the desert. That is if she lets me ride it. Lol
Update. The bike is busy at speed, but I believe it’s more related to suspension setup than a chassis flaw. Still, this is a good single track bike. I’d look elsewhere for a desert bike.
My Xtrainer is the perfect bike for me BC I'm a vet rider with a 28" inseam. It's a quality performance trail bike that simply fit shorter riders.
I also have a 28 inseam Have you done any mods to the seat to reach? Are you flat footed? Thanks
@@1994vmax Lowering link, adjusted rear preload down (a little), raised forks 1" in the tripleclamps. World of difference.
@paulmcauliffe8857 is that a 2in lowering link? If so, I believe you lose some ground clearance... Do you find that to be an issue on technical rocky terrain. Thank you

I love it, I own 4 TMs and love them. I’ve got a 19 300 MX two stroke, a 2009 450 MXF, 03 125 MX and a 2002 300 MX two stroke. Love them all. I would like to get a 300 EN in pink. If you could help me or point me in the right direction to get one, I would be grateful. I would trade you all four of my bikes for yours.
You should have taped over the vin number plate and removed the forks. The powder coat turned out nice.
No doubt!
