Bedtime routine with a GJ feeding tube (gastroparesis and small bowel obstruction)
People who fake service dogs know that their dogs aren't well behaved. People who have well behaved dogs will go out in public shamlessly. My dog behaves like a service dog, we do not have a vest for him, since that's not what he is, but he does allow me to be more vocal in public, since I am scared of speaking to people. His presence helps. That's why I trained him to such a consent. It's not even that difficult. He has never and will never lie a paw on a service dog. Or any other dog, for that matter.
I think the reason people have an issue with you using the term medical equipment instead of the proper term medically necessary is because it's a living being. Us as handlers understand it's a simple way to explain why not to mess with a service animal. And why service animals are allowed everywhere except a few places like some areas of a zoo and surgical units/sterile environments. Think of it like a nurse assistant who accompanies someone With a disability to assist them. You wouldn't call them medical equipment because they're not. They're medically necessary because they assist you. Yes a dog is trained to alert certain changes in your body as say a glucometer would sometimes sooner than one will. However that does not make them a device. For people like ourselves who have service animals WE understand why we may compare the 2. However it doesn't change the fact they are not devices and are living things. Now before I get this response I do know in some States they are classified as medical equipment for protection purposes in a legal stand point for if injured. "Damage of medical equipment" charges for example. However there are also many other states that have their own set of laws and fines specifically for the harm of a service animal because of it being a living animal that can be traumatized and take years of retraining or cost thousands to get a new service animal. Where with a device the person who damages it, is required to pay for a new device and it's done. A service animal could have years of charges to the person who injured said service animal. Like I said we in the community know why we compare them to medical equipment. But those on the outside see a living being and view as disrespectful to the dog. Who is a living creature not a robot/device. I hope this doesn't come off rude it's just an observation that I made.
I’m training my new baby and I’m sooooo scared someone’s random dog is going to end up getting her washed 😢
How do you get your tube to stay in place without an extension or grip-lock?
What are the reasons for feeding tubes? Can someone explain please?
Usually affects humans at birth and is called (obstructed birth) obstructed childbirth is the narrowing of the vagina in a woman and the impact of the fetal brain with the female pelvis at birth and must immediately turn the natural birth to a caesarean section after a maximum of two hours in order not to occur bleeding in the fetus and this leads to bleeding in the brain of the fetus and thus lack of oxygen in the child and cerebral palsy accompanies the child throughout his life and becomes unable to eat through the mouth
How do you find the button for venting the stomach? I've only had peg js previously but I now need the ability to vent as well as feed into j and would prefer a button as its less bulky. Does it vent easily ? I always had issues with my peg x
Oh my goodness girl. I have eds. If i used that much tape i wouldnt have stomach skin left by morning time. I did wrar mine like that for a year or so. It literally took me thar long to realize it was my condition that caused problems. So after a billion different tapes i realized it wasnt the tape. It was my skin. Your so young hun. I cant imagine if my disease took me out sooner. Keep going. You got this. "Remember whatever your going through remember this to shall pass"-burnedbeauty

Hi 👋 you have a great spirit ❤, do still have the tube, it’s been more than 2 years I have my feeding tube , everything goes by the tube , feed , water and all my medication
@@chandraneepurhooa5418thank you! Yes, I still have my GJ feedube tube and rely on it for 95+% of my nutrition, water, and some meds
I have a disability requiring me to have a service dog. So im training one myself as best i can for my problem. I dont agree with buying a vest to scam people into thinking that the dog IS service when they're clearly not.. but my vest i do have for her says service dog in training, which isn't a lie. Vests are optional wear for the dog, but it doesn't hurt to have them.
11:20 I completely have no word for this. ((T_T))
I'm confused
This is not sanitary for others, though. Is there any possible way you could shop without a dog with you? Dogs carry and spread a lot of pathogens which are not safe for humans.
No, I need Ollie. Ollie isn't there just because I felt like it. He is a (multipurpose, but mainly a) medical and cardiac alert Service Dog that cannot be replaced by any medical equipment. There currently isn't any medical equipment that comes close to what Ollie does. Under the ADA, Service Dogs are considered “medical equipment”. So, just as I have the right to bring a wheelchair, feeding tube, oxygen tank, etc., I have the right to have Ollie with me. That's why it's really important for him to be groomed often (2x a month), always wiping his paws down to keep them clean if he's not wearing his booties, get frequent checkups with his vet, and that he's up to date on all his vaccinations. You are far more likely to sick from another human than a Service Dog that meets all the requirements. He doesn't come in contact with any food so there's nothing to worry about there. I agree that not every Service Dig handler follows the requirements, but they are the exception, not the rule. They should not affect my rights as a disabled Service Dog handler. Please look up ADA.GOV if you want more information. I'll comment the link that focuses on Service Dogs. I hope that answered your question.
The general ADA link with common questions about Service Dogs www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/ And Q. 10 is actually the law about open salad bars, since that may answer your question the closest. Q. 32 talks about restaurants and how they are allowed to be accompanied by their handler but how they are not allowed to sit on the chairs for concerns just like yours. This is all under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and there's what it says on that same link “The Americans with Disabilities Act authorizes the Department of Justice (the Department) to provide technical assistance to individuals and entities that have rights or responsibilities under the Act.” I hope this all answers your questions and/or concerns.
Not true on disability being canceled if you get married! I've been on SSDI and married since 1995!
@@michelewhite1900s This isn't my audio (as mentioned in the pinned comment and description). Unfortunately, just because you haven't experienced need it, doesn't mean others haven't. To share my own experience with SSI, even though I'm not married- I have SSI and it would be altered if I got married. As an example, I live at home with my parents and I couldn't afford to pay them rent like I wanted to (and I would if I got the money from SSI to help pay for my part of the bills). But because my “household income” is a certain amount, I get significantly less. I am unable to even pay for all of my medications, copays (even with absencindary insurance), feeding tube supplies, and other medical supplies, contributing toward household bills, let alone rent. I have to notify them immediately if I get married or my living situation changes. So, it is true that someone's “household” income could affect their SSI and some of it could be “taken away” if their marriage status changes. I know of multiple couples who continue life as if they are married but have chosen to get a divorce on paper so they can increase their SSI to be able to afford basic living and medical expenses. They have also always had separate bank accounts because if you have over $2,000 you will not get any income that month (which happened to me after my grandpa wrote me a check to pay for classes at my local JC and I had about $2,050 and I couldn't afford medications that month). The point is that the system is messed up and there is a lot of room for improvement. I recognize that I'm incredibly fortunate to have the support of my family. The majority of people in my situation are not as lucky. I'm very grateful for the support that I have. I don't know what to do without them. I am not super knowledgeable about how all the systems work, but this is my personal experience.
i am writing a letter to my state senator to propose a new law. im so done
I literally don’t go grocery shopping anymore because of the discrimination I get for using a wheelchair when I look healthy. The berating and rude people is just too much.

I have a service dog as well and is your dog a standard poodle? And mine is a standard poodle. That’s why I was wondering.
Actually, Ollie is a goldendoodle but he looks just like a SP. Most people asssue he is a SP, or at least until they see his tail. 🐕🦺
It’s also pretty easy to work around the whole “can’t fire somebody just for having a disability” thing. All they have to do is come up with another reason. I’ve had services offered to me to help me find a job, and I’ve had to be selective and picky about what I use, because I don’t want any employers to know about my autism until I know they won’t discriminate. :/
@@thatonepossum5766 this is very true. I’m so sorry that happened to you!
@@Chronically.sarahdayton luckily it hasn’t happened yet, it’s just something I’m aware of and cautious about.
About 15 years ago these vest were not for sale online or in stores, once that became available,it was only obvious that a surge of people and dog's would pervert working dogs. It's going to get much worse b4 it gets better. My advice, avoid and prepare. Make sure you and your dog are trained for an attack. Same with communication. Both of these things must be practiced, it is a must to be cool, calm and collected. Last thing you want is your service dog to bite,in your defense. Your going to loose that dog,and deal with similar issues as if you shot a 🔫
It’s nice to see how you organize the gear, most people skip over that part
@@stormyeffects4795 thank you 💚
*Good information! However, I worked at their warehouse distribution center and I was never paid "$.50/hr" as a person with disabilities. I have worked at the regular store and earned a regular wage too. I think it really depends on the area. Because I have heard of that happenening for people. That is really horrible. They deserve to earn a good wage instead of $.50/hr. Thats very sad.*
My service Dog training‘s name is 🐾 Oliver 🐩 . We’re almost done and our training service/company says that we really have to find leashes harnesses that call out to us to our dog. They’ve mentioned a few, but we didn’t like them. 🐾 Oliver 🐩 is a standard poodle that weighs about 50 pounds, do you have any real suggestions on harnesses or companies that you would use. Just a sidenote today I was at the mall with 🐾 Oliver 🐩 and someone said service dogs and training aren’t real. You buy them and they’re already ready to go. I just kept walking. Another woman said I look snobby and I didn’t need a dog to help me.luckily my husband was with me because I started to cry and felt sad. I’m a type on diabetic and have a resting heart rate.
@@michellecolegrove I'm sorry that someone made you feel so awful. I wish I could say it got better but it doesn't. I have learned how to respond to people, if I do at all. A lot of it is misinformation or ignorance. Regarding the harnesses, it really depends on they type of work they do. Because Ollie does mobility, he has to wear a harness that is safe. Unfortunately, The company that made Ollie’s everyday harness I use now is no longer in business. I am actually waiting on a new one from Misty’s Dog Gear (on IG). I bought an x back this time (his current one is a Y front). If you don't need mobility, you may not need a harness. You could just get straight front vests for labeling reasons. Ollie’s cape is custom and it's from PatienceAndLove143 on Etsy and I love it. I also use the One Tigris vest as a cape with patches and I like that as well for days I don't need mobility or extra bulk (like the airport). I also use it around holidays (like Christmas)!because I have specific patches that I love to theme out but you could do it that way and have a few sets of patches to swap out bc it's a lot of fun and it makes it special. I have used Bridgeport harness before during his training, and I liked that a lot but I prefer biothane over leather. Idk if this is helpful. It truly depends on what you need. I have a full gear tour on my channel. It's linked in the description and it's the most viewed video on my channel so it should be easy to find. I hope that helps. 💚
I was training an older bully for a bit to be a service animal and we went to Walmart as our first outing very proud of her when there was a little dog in a cart and she didn’t react at all when it barked. (She was indeed a washout however)

@@jessicalingo4346 I completely agree. A lot of people don’t see it that way and tend to misinterpret my view of it. I’m glad someone else designated with this. 💚
@@Chronically.sarahdayton I commented on the fact that service animals are considered medical equipment in some areas but not in others on another post and I was so excited I wasn't the first to say that. I do hope that changes in the future. Unfortunately I can see it being a money trap since insurance companies are a beast with common required medications. So in some ways I'm happy they're not because of that reason but I still very much think the things i mentioned should still be available. I could also see fake sa owners trying to take advantage of this.
What?? They take away the disability income if you get married?? That's awful! What if the spouse is also disabled, or has a job that's not paying as well? Also that's so frikin RIDICULOUS that insurances won't cover the cost! They cover for other medical equipment, don't they? Is it just cuz it's a dog that it doesn't count as medical equipment in the insurances' eyes?? Uuugh! Honestly! I don't have a service dog, nor do I need one, but I will forever be an advocate for the disabled, and the amount of hoops you guys have to jump through is so unfair. I am really starting to hate America more and more. 😤🤬
People do this to my dog and sges not even a service dog !
Good boy ❤❤❤❤
Im disabled and broke. So i have an Amazon vest im saving for a cape tho :3
The vest doesn't make the dog, the training does. I used a cheap vest from Amazon during a lot of Ollie’s training. It's totally okay to use them! The problem is that people think that getting their pet dog (who doesn't have any training) a harness and “certificate” (they are fake and illegal) means their dog is a service dog and they think that they can take their pet everywhere. I hope that makes sense.
I hate when people fake a service dog a few months ago I went to a restaurant with my mom and There was a guy and he had a fake service dog. It was barking and pulling on the leash and just misbehaving.
Yeah, it's a huge problem, unfortunately. That behavior is unacceptable, even *if* it was a legitimate service dog (and if it was, that handler needed to leave and get their dog out of that environment and regain control. We all have our bad days and mistakes, but that was just not okay imo). People and their fake “service dogs” make the real Service Dog teams look bad and that's why we have such a bad rep (along with so many other huge issues like safety, access issues, Karens, etc.)
About to get a G tube…what is granulation tissue? Would tubie pads be helpful for leaking??? And do regular G tube buttons leak or just GJ
Hi! So, u have a full video about how I set up my feeds if you want to know more about that. Yes, G-J (gastro-jejunal) tubes leak the same as G (gastro) tubes. J tubes are just like g tubes but they have an extension into the small bowel (or jejunum). Granulation is kind of like scar tissue but it keeps getting irritated and the stomach acid leaking sends it in a vicious cycle. It’s super painful because it’s new tissue and it has a lot of nerve endings. When mine is bad, I clean my stoma like 6x a day (depending on how leaky my tube is). Tube pads can help, but when my tube is really leaky, I use gauze because it’s disposable. Plus some tube pads have stitching on the inside, and I got really bad granulation tissue from the friction. That’s why I will use gauze sometimes. I hope that helps!🤍
as some with POTS, MCAS, EDS, and many more, i’m so glad i came across this video. you are so right when you say their invisible, it’s almost like people don’t think they exist sometimes. i hope you are doing well 💕
I have all of that too! I also have dysautiomia, and a few other things, and I really appreciate everyone coming together to support one another!
@starlight_gaxcha7516 💚💚💚
A lot of service dog vids I’ve seen have some entitled Karen’s but I never generalize anything
Is it safe to drive with POTS? What if you have an episode while driving?
It depends on the person, their symptoms, what medications/treatments they are on to mitigate their symptoms, etc. Not everyone with POTS passes out. It's a choice they should make with their doctor’s recommendation. It's just like any other health issue. Personally, I do not drive, but that's for many reasons and POTS is only one of them. I'm grateful to have someone to help me and drive me where I need to go. But just because I don't drive doesn't mean everyone with POTS can't.
I am on my first one but I feel it coming
Lmao
This is totally the behavior of someone who “doesn't care” 💀
How did you train him to get to know that scent? Im training a service dog myself for my pots, everywhere i see says train them to recognise that scent but im not quite sure how to go about that
Hi! So, I used my sweat and swabs and froze them until I was ready to train. There are some great TH-cam videos that go into depth about it. I have also now trained him to alert hypoglycemia using my saliva. It sounds gross, but that’s the best way I’ve found, or at least that’s what works best for Ollie and I. Thankfully, Ollie naturally picks up a lot of it so scent training was a bit easier once he knew how to alert (using paw or nose, and occasionally “jump” while we’re at home and I’m not paying attention to his alerts). Sorry I can’t give a detailed answer, but there are many videos that can explain it far better than I can. I hope that’s somewhat helpful 💚
@Chronically.sarahdayton thank you so much i appreciate it!!
Where did you get that vest! Its lovely!!!
Thank you! I have a video on my channel of Ollie’s gear tour. That video has chapters and links in the description to everything to make it easier for y’all. That video is linked in the description of this video too. I’ll link it here, but TH-cam has taken the link function sometimes. I hope that helps!
