      30K oil changes on a CVT transmission are actually crucial if you want to keep the CVT band/belt free from any potential metal debris/shavings that may find their way into the transmission oil over time. Many Jatco CVT transmissions from Nissan failed in the past do to owners neglecting CVT oil and filter changes .

      Most of my clients do a fluid change. It doesn’t get all the oil out but refreshes the system if that makes sense. For a flush at home you’ll drain the the fluid. Once it’s drained you disconnect the return lines and put the line in a bucket or something that’ll caught the fluid. You turn the car on and let drain out. Once it’s done draining reconnect the lines then fill the transmission shifted no the gears every so often to get the fluid through the system. Me personally I’ve just done fluid changes every 60k miles on my vehicles

    I have a 2020 Nissan Sentra with 59,500 miles. Does the dealer do it any differently then say a automotive shop? For example the shop I got to says they us the machine method to suck all the fluid out and fill until the fluid is the normal color. Then once it is then fill it and do the post checkouts accordingly. It doesn't sound like they do a drain from your video example. They do not do a drain and fill with pan dropped and screen and magnets cleaned whic is what I have been also told is the 100% way to do this right. I mean if the dealer is charging $320-$400 for this service and the shop I go to is $189 I am option for the shop vs the dealer. But I want this done right and not risk the CVT in the future. What are your thoughts and recommedations?

    • @Ghost_Automotive_DIY
      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that’s the common method is to use the machine to suck it all out. I’ve never liked the way the dealerships over charges the customers that have already are spending their hard earned money. It sounds like as like that shop is being honest about their pricing. Mainly they suck it out because you can damage the pan since it aluminum if you over tighten. To avoid that they suck it out. Now the method I showed doesn’t completely drain all the fluid since the torque converter holds a lot of fluid too. The machine way actually sucks all of it out. I’ve never had an issue with any of the cars I’ve done this way come back with transmission issues and I’ve been doing it this way for years. But in the end it’s up to you and how comfortable you are with either process.

      in Sentra 2024, you can drain out 7 quarts by removing the drain plug. The total volume should be 7.4 quarts. Probably the new transmission design makes it more efficient to drain out 95% of fluid. The drain plug and fluid pan in Sentra 2024 is also different.

    Im lost here. Can you please correct me if I’m wrong? : The Nissan Sentra requires an oil change and a CVT transmission fluid change. 2 different things. Is the above statement correct ? And how often are both required? In a comment, I also read about an entire flush, and other stuff to change out on the CVT Can you please clarify? I hope to hear from you

    • @Ghost_Automotive_DIY
      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Let any vehicle oil changes should be frequent. Depending on the oil type each car needs it should be done from 3k to 5k miles. For the transmission it should be done every 60k mile. It also has a strainer and filter. The dealership states they don’t change either one of those unless they’re rebuilding the transmission. I personally change those out every other service to insure there’s no clogging of ether one. Now doing it the way I show in this video and another I’ve made doesn’t get all the fluid out. The torque converter hold the rest of the transmission fluid. After draining the fluid you disconnect the return line from the transmission and drain the rest that way. Then you fill it with the proper amount of fluid

      No, the motor sounded sounded the same as it did the day I got her.

      You might need to change your timing belt if it is rhythm with your rpm but not the same amount of rpm (makes 1 tick noise for every 4 revolutions example)

    Did you have any trouble re-installing the four bolts on the transmission cooler filter housing? My stepdaughter has a 2018 Nissan Murano and one of the bolts is a bit difficult to access and replace..

    • @Ghost_Automotive_DIY
      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really but I know the one on top closest to the transmission was a little difficult to get the socket on but still was not as bad as I thought it would be. Hand tighten the bolt first then got the socket on it

    Does it matter what brand cvt transmission you get? I read in the manual that Nissan is the best brand. Because other brands can potentially damage the transmission

      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No as long as it’s the right type that’s all that matters. That info I got from a Nissan tech. The car in the video I’ve been doing the trans change and flush since the owner got it a few years ago

    You will be doing this again...by being lazy and not replacing the seal.

    • @Ghost_Automotive_DIY
      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The seals were good and flexible. There was no need to change. I’ve changed several axles over the years and not one has been leaking that I haven’t replaced the seal. It has nothing to do with laziness it’s experience.

      I did the same job as you for my camry 2011 le 4drs AT. Why is there a gap between the seal and flange? Mine left no space. Did it come originally? Did any fluid come out when you took cv out? I got about 2 quarts atf dropped out when cv out. I saw your transmission seems to be very clean. Thanks.

    • @Ghost_Automotive_DIY
      @Ghost_Automotive_DIY 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-jg2sq1ht7f I’m sorry but I’m not sure what gap you’re referring to. After I was done with the job, it was all tight and in the same position as the original axle. The driver side didn’t leak but the passenger side did some. I don’t remember how much came out but I did replace what came out.
