    7’9 heavy/mod fast with a 300 size Diawa could grind those fish straight in but I guess the fighting of the fish allowing it to run around the yak adds suspense to the video but I don’t know one big baiter that allows any fish to turn its head if they can help it. 😏

      @@davewesternky Thanks for commenting again! Fishing from a kayak in a river with current adds a lot of complexity, so if I tried to yeet them in I could actually risk losing them or damaging my gear. These smallies are also a lot stronger than you might expect if you haven’t experienced them yourself. You might notice in some of my videos that I’m always trying to get them to stay down, because of course I don’t want them to turn their head, but that just goes to show how different MN river smallies are compared to other regions, especially ones of this size. They’re super fun to catch, and I always want to capture an authentic fishing experience for viewers to enjoy. Thanks for watching!

    • @sotayakfishing
      @sotayakfishing 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dalafgaming7238 finding the fish is the biggest battle. Once you locate fish, then the rest is a lot easier. When choosing lures, I often consider 1) Water temperature (hot or cold? are the fish aggressive or lethargic?) If fish have the energy to chase, then maybe choose a moving bait. If the fish are moving slow, then maybe choose a slower presentation. 2) Water clarity (stained, muddy, clear etc.). If the fish can’t see very well, then I’d pick something like a chatterbait or plopper which makes a lot of noise. If it’s ultra clear then maybe choose something more subtle like a plastic. 3) Light conditions (sun rise/set, cloudy, sunny) Will the fish be able to see a bait on topwater? Is the sun penetrating the bottom enough to light up a lure that sinks? 5) Color of lure (I’m not a big color guy though) I typically stick with black or white…something to offset the water and light conditions. 6) Lastly I think about size. Bass and pike will hit all types of lure sizes. I don’t think small baits limit you to small fish, but I do think big baits eliminate small fish. I know this is a long answer because it’s a good hard question, but for me that’s what makes fishing so much fun. I hope this helps and good luck - catch some bass and pike!!! 🤙

    How are the guides on that rod? Are they micro guides?

      @@seangalvin7394 Yes! I think the guides are good. They also have a Fuji Fazlite ring which seems to help provide long smooth casts as well.
