    Dude. HVAC is such a Gimmick. You have a furnace from the early 2000s and they are a bad design. Why? Did people not understand how air filters and basic HVAC worked? No. They just wanted you to have to always upgrade. It is late stage capitalism and super expensive for the common man. We live in a manufactured home. Not a mansion. Thanks for the video. I have a garage furnace that was (I assume) installed when the house was finished in 1990. The furnace is a propane-powered Coleman 70 but there are no filters in it. In trying to find a filter for the thing, I'm measuring 16 inches in the width of the filter housing but I'm not sure of the length because I don't know how far the filter goes down (how far it reaches). Have you any suggestions on getting the proper size filter? Maybe cut to fit?

    Question: I had a 1995 1:07 Coleman AirPro 70kbtu gas unit replaced in 2021 with a Goodman 96% eff unit. The Goodman is using 4X more gas than my old Coleman in the winter (no leaks etc). I have done all research and questioning.. I believe these new units are not what they say they are. Can you tell me why my newer, supposedly better efficiency unit is using more gas? Btw avg. temperature is the same in the last 2 years and temperature settings.

    Do the extra sensors cause the AC to run more frequently?

  • @stevenkopca7130
    @stevenkopca7130 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a weird question I guess.. My Coleman Evcon electric furnace has cold air coming from the closet room that the furnace is in when my AC is on in the summertime. Right now I put a hanging temp reader in this closet and its reading 54 degrees while my house is at 72-74 degrees. The room is a little bigger than the furnace itself. Is that normal? the trailer is a 1999 model.

    • @jmairnheat
      @jmairnheat ปีที่แล้ว

      there is likely a cooling coil attached to the electric furnace, on some you can see it easily, it looks like the letter A on top of the furnace. You might have leakage or air bypassing the furnace somehow and recirculating in the closet. Not normal, but also probably not a huge problem. It really depends on the circumstances. I recommend you have a service done, do some maintenance on you system and have the guy check it out while he is there.

    I was wondering about the handle gap on the old furnace, which is what I have, and I thought the filter was supposed to cover it. Mine does have a wire frame-like device to hold the filters in. I guess the owners of the furnace you removed never had it or lost it. Hope one day to upgrade as well, great video, love the electricity savings. So you can set it to auto, and say 70 to 72, for example, then the heat will turn on if it falls below 70, and the air will turn on if it gets above 72. But I feel like overall, I'd rather just have an old school thermostat.

      You cannot have the heat and cool set for the same temperature. You have to have a separation of at least 2 degrees, 5 or 6 degrees is better. This is to prevent rapid back and forth heating and cooling on the same system, which is not good for the equipment.

    I have the newer model gas furnace in my home. It's 23 years old and I've only had to replace the control board once, and a door clip of course. I like the unit overall. It is sized right to keep the house snug in the winter and cool in the summer. The only thing is that it is SO LOUD. The furnace is off the laundry room and we have to raise our voices to converse in the living room. Would reducting to a larger trunk line reduce the back pressure on the fan cabinet and quiet the unit?

    These Coleman mobile home furnaces are trash. I have the exact model of the newer one. Horribly loud. Mine is 2 years old and I've had 4 repairmen out to look at it, replaced the board, adjusted gas, replaced sensors, etc, and it still overheats and shuts off. Motor has been tested and seems good. I see the filter on the door (it's the cut to size rather than a standard), but there is also a filter shoved in next to the blower motor on the right side. Is that supposed to be there? Also, I've seen photos of having to replace the black material on the sides of the blower motor. Is that something I need to do? My furnace in my old home was standard, so the filter slipped into a slot near the floor (simple). This is all new to me and I can't seem to find ANY information online (or in the manuals) about the filters, how many there are, where they should be, and replacing them. Any advice would be appreciated as your video has the most info I've seen so far. Thank you

    • @jmairnheat

      You just need the filters in the door. They should not be loose fitting. If you need a larger size than what is there that is fine. The goal is just to have a filter that fits and doesn't come loose.
