    Hi, Thanks so much! I have the spark 40, and also a Fender Mustang III solid state modeler amp 100 watts with a good 12-inch celestion speaker. So its very loud to gig well with a band. So I run the left side of the monoline out of the spark 40 to the FX loop Return in (only input on amp). I love the spark 40 for all the pedals built-in. However, I would love to be able to run an external WA WA pedal. So with this setup, I can put the WA WA pedal after the spark 40 0utput but inline and before the Mustang III FX loop Return in correct? If so, that will be perfect! Thank you and I subscribed!!! @@robertbroderick3896 there are lots of placement preferences for wah. If you think about it it's just a large filter knob and filter like wah is like a sharpened eq sweep. That kind of stuff typically goes near the beginning of your signal chain just like an eq pedal. So perhaps put it before the spark amp. But there are many people who have used them in many different ways and in different positions in the chain. Especially with heavy gain you may want to place it on other spots. But try both before and after your spark! It can't hurt. Thanks for the sub!

    • @YourGearSucks

      @@ConditionZero76 the purpose of outputting to mono is that it mimics the mic'ing up of a traditional amp and gives the sound guy the ability to "one channel one instrument" your guitar. The second thing is, the spark features stereo effects which if you just take one side of will sound odd if you send them to a amp source or PA. So you want both left and right to consolidate to one signal so you get everything in one channel.

      Yeah it's dangerous. But not as dangerous as modding one of the bigger amps like the Hot Rod deluxe where the high voltage caps recharge on their own unplugged. With the blues jr. Make sure you familiarize yourself with draining the high voltage caps (450v) and staying grounded. Multimeter is your friend. Look at how people have modded the amp with the billm or fromel mods. That will teach you how to make it safe. Then try doing the metro fx loop kit. Good luck.

    Question??? The Spark Control (Foot Switch) does not operate with the 40 unless you have a Network Connection Available, correct???? Which makes it useless in most LIVE environments.... I'm trying to figure out how I can use the features of the Spark as an AI onstage. Today I have to change the presets by manually pressing the settings on the Spark 40. Is UNDO available for your second overdub? Or can you only erase the entire loop and start over. Every time? Every other video review either completely avoids talking about this or waits until the video is over halfway over and doesn’t mention the GLARING PROBLEM WITH THIS LOOPER. I’ve watched 5 videos so far reviewers are not addressing the question. This guy gets way into the video and just says something about “reading the manual to learn about the details”. Sometimes of you guys say “waiting for an update” re the lack of basic looper functions expected with literally every looper on the market. Except for this one. This one doesn’t have it. It won’t undo dubs. But there might be an update. Every one of these reviews follows the same exact outline with in,y the most minor of differences. I think that they, the reviewers are being instructed in some way to just not mention missing UNDO function and/or to pretend it’s not deal breaking issue for many of us. It’s almost a complete failure as a functional looper. I’m saying it’s a total fail as a looper other than for the most casual musician who just doesn’t realize the incomprehensibility lack of UNDO of overdubs. I’m actually upset about this as a teacher and a repeat customer. Spark should be talking about this.

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidschnittman7954 the over dubbing functionality is indeed an issue. It has a latency that makes it almost unusable and also you have to clear everything to start over. No undo on the overdubs. It's a looper designed to be an fx send and return more than a looper as an aftermarket special product. So if you need basic loop functionality and be able to change presets and have your amp as a stage monitor while still sending an out to Pa this is the unit for you. If you want more than basic loop functions then maybe it's not. Or at least wait until firmware updates.

    • @davidschnittman7954
      @davidschnittman7954 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YourGearSucks you are precisely correct. They should be offering this as a line out device with out even mentioning the looper other than it has a one that is not properly functional but may eventually be ok if updated. The fact that every single review that I’ve seen follows the same script in terms of not “going there” about the dreadful looper function tells me that every reviewer is sponsored and they are being coached to LIE by OMISSION so that some of US will be suckered into buying this only to be disappointed by the crap looper. #positivegrid and #soarkamp ARE going to lose a lot of customer loyalty from people who are PAYING attention. Btw I own 2 spark amps and a spark foot switch and I angry about this because I’ve been itching for a looper solution for years. This is not it.

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidschnittman7954 I don't think they are being coached but I understand the annoyance and lack of clarity in a lot of videos. I think it's pretty awesome to have a looper that works specifically with the spark preset switching and can be powered with usb. Those were the selling points for me. Prior to that I used a ditto looper and a circle looper. In all the spark user groups there were lots of mods and DIY attempts at getting looping to work innately with the spark. So it's been a desire for a while among its user base. Given this is a pretty slick and affordable option I'd say it's a good purchase for most. It should also be said that the latency apparently isn't an issue with the Spark Live due to its advanced audio processor. So that's a plus worth considering.

    • @davidschnittman7954
      @davidschnittman7954 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YourGearSucks I can't disagree that for some this will be fine. But for those of us who have been on the edge of our seats dreaming about looping with our spark these reviews amount to deceptive advertising. I think it's a great idea that wasn't ready for market as a looper. I am thinking of all of the people who bought this clunker without even imagining that this HYPED UP new looper wouldn’t allow undo? Instead we get rave reviews! Is it really plausible that every single one didn’t think that lacking undo for overdub wasn’t really important enough to talk about it. And as I said before I've watched about every single review and they are all the same on this. I mean if you were reviewing this device would you have glossed over or avoided it entirely? I don't think so. Now, again that doesn't mean it's not worth it as-is for some people and for them I'm very happy. But for the poor suckers who just pulled the trigger after seeing these early reviews, they are likely very disappointed. In any case I appreciate you're talking to me about this and hopefully the update we're all hoping for will come.

      Go with the mini. The sound quality and power is much higher - you can easily Street jam with it. The go is really only good as a pocket solution when you need absolute maximal portability.

    Hey bro, Nice video for a Canadian Lol. Was wondering about the Spark cab. A flat responded power cab. I just ordered one. If i like it, I'll get another for some ping pong effects. Can you do I video about this? Hell, you might already have. I'll check. But if not, consider it. PEACE

      Hey I appreciate it! Proud canuck here. I don't have any cabs around (they take up too much room in the studio) but I do have combo amps with FX returns which kinda work the same way - you can watch the demo video here of how to set your spark for a combo amp with and without and fx send return - th-cam.com/video/ycxoyzAcTao/w-d-xo.html

    You've gave me more info than I've managed to find anywhere else, but could you let me know if I can use a 'Y splitter cable' from the 1/8 headphone jack on the Spark 40 into 2 x 1/4 jacks on my Scarlett 2i2 safely? I've been reading so many contradicting solutions. I just don't want to fuck up any of my equipment 😉

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Absolutely and in your 2i2 just make sure your channels are panned to left and right appropriately to recreate the stereo signal when you're recording otherwise they both come out centered. You can only fuck it up if you force the stereo signal into a single consolidated mono one without any resistors in the line to reduce the signal strength.

    Nicely made video! You have the cameras to demonstrate your various topics and you talk us through it. Soooo many guys with experience and savvy will make a demo/tutorial and make casual passing reference to some aspect of their topic that is a boring detail to them. Their hand, holding a male jack connector, will disappear behind an amp, which is full of inputs back there and they'll say "plug it in". For me, the guy who really needs the demo, the show is over!! Those videos are a waste of our time. My time anyway. But you SHOW me where/how the jacks connect. Details for dummies. Thank you.

    Just had mine arrive today, open box special through Best Buy Canada. My question has to do with the built in amp. This is my first acoustic/electric, and of course I didn't get any manual with the guitar - not even a truss rod wrench. I did get the 9 volt battery with it, and was able to verify tuning once i turned the panel on. What I'm wondering is do i turn this on just for tuning, or do i need it on to also play through my Vox amplifier?

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The amp is a preamp typical of acoustic guitars. If the tuner is on the preamp signal is typically off so you have to have the preamp on to play through an external amp.

    I love the sounds that I can get from my Spark 40 after I adjust the tones in my presets. I want to start doing more looping. What do you think of the idea of going into the looper and then into my PA? It solves the problem of the overly bassy sound of the Spark 40 cabinet and allows one switch patches going into the looper.

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Either or will work depending on your signal chain desires tho the output to a pa should be set to mono for your looper unless you have a stereo looper which some are.

    What about just a stand alone setup! , i do some open mic at places where you have to supply your own sound but the establishment does your vocal ! So does it hold up opposite an separate microphone?

    • @YourGearSucks
      @YourGearSucks 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's all based on the mixer and the sound person for the night. I'd recommend a Spark going in curbs the low end, enhances the high end and any vocals need compression and a 15% reverb tail. That kind of functionality is dependent on the mixer but as far a sparks go they can plug in and be good to go. Vocal tone shaping for live is so difficult and requires someone who knows what they're doing with equipment that can do it.

    I don’t understand why you would buy a cheap digital beginner to intermediate practice amp and then run it through a fender tube amp when the fender amp is a thousand dollar professional quality amp … so you’re skipping the preamp.. the thing that makes the amp sound good and running a cheap amp into the poweramp essentially creating a bigger crappy amp lol. Just use the fender on its own and get a couple pedals and your tone will be amazing! But this is not the way lol

That specific app is called MetaControl for Android. We also have the one from Apple which does a more professional job.
