Lynne reflects on her time as our Chair of Trustees.
4 months ago I was diagnosed with EPI exocrine pancreatic insufficiency the test for this is supposed to be over 200 for normal between 100-200 is moderate EPI and under 100 is extreme EPI mine was 2. So they gave me pancreatic enzyme capsules I take 2 with every meal to break my food down but I live in a small town and they don’t have the equipment to be able to do the test I need a EUS endoscopic ultrasound. The EPI is just a symptom to a problem which they have not figured out yet but for some reason my pancreas completely stopped releasing enzymes and they can’t figure out why but it’s really hard to get in to a place to have the correct test done. The closest place to me is 3 hours away but I can’t get an answer from them so I found another place that is 6 hours away and I’m waiting on them to call me to make an appointment. Does anybody have any information on pancreatic diseases? Or any testimony from things you have been through? I’m not exactly sure of the diseases that cause this to happen.
how effective is chemotherapy on stage 3 pancreatic cancer
Hi Poppy, thank you for your comment. The effectiveness of chemotherapy can vary from person to person and is influenced by factors such as an individual's overall health and fitness before starting treatment, as well as their response to the treatment. You can find out more about this here: bit.ly/3BRckOE. Or you can call our nurses for free on 0808 801 0707, email nurse@pancreaticcancer.org.uk or visit: bit.ly/3v4PFZk to find out more. Take care. 💜

I have pancreatic cancer. Tried Creon and currently on Nutryzim, but they are cousing terrible stomach and gut cramps for hours. What should I do?
I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer n I'm taking croon. It doesn't seem to be working. I'm a native American Indian and carrying a Whiteman disease. I was told this is very unusual for me to be carrying this disease
We are sorry to hear you have pancreatic cancer and that your Creon supply does not seem to be helping you. We recommend talking to your GP or getting in touch with our specialists nurses on our support line. They can answer your questions, offer emotional support and provide practical advice. I don’t have cancer , I never experienced cancer . Non of my family members have ever had cancer , but this was a very informative and good video, I better stop smoking . Smoking is the lead cause of pancreatic cancer, it’s not certain I will get pancreatic cancer from smoking but it increases the risk definitely, many people can smoke their entire life’s without having cancer , it’s all about what genes you inherited.
Thank you for your comment. Researchers think that smoking causes more than one in five pancreatic cancers (22%) in the UK. Your risk of pancreatic cancer increases the more you smoke, and the longer you have smoked. We are glad to hear you are aware of this risk and that you're taking steps to change this. You can learn more about risk factors here: bit.ly/48r8E1P. Take care 💜
I smoked most of my life and got pancreatic cancer 17 yrs ago! I had the Distal operation and I am doing fairly!
Causes? All that junk food out there!
Hi Anthony, we don’t fully understand exactly what causes pancreatic cancer, but we do know some risk factors. A risk factor is anything that increases your chances of getting a disease. You can read more about these here: bit.ly/48r8E1P. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Have a friend in North Carolina,USA. Was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4. Had pancreas removed. That was 18 years ago as of 2024. Does have to take the enzymes pills for digestion. True fact.
Hi Vicki, we're sorry your friend had pancreatic cancer but glad to hear they were eligible for surgery and are still with us 18 years on. Sending well wishes to you both 💜

Thanx for the info even though I'm terminally ill. I've just started taking Creon and its working well (low doses under close doctor's watch). If I'm not careful, I can have manic pain attacks after eating. I have advanced stage Pancreatic cancer (Liver MTS) .
Hello Steve, we're incredibly sorry to hear you have received a terminal diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. However, it is good to hear you have been able to access Creon and that it is working well for you. Have you been in touch with our specialist nurses on our support line? They can offer practical advice and support, to you and your loved ones if needed. Please get in touch for free on 0808 801 0707. Take care. 💜
@PancreaticCancerUK Thank you. I will do. I'm currently undergoing palliative care at a hospice in London, however, as my abdominal and back pain is nearing controllable (after one month), the doctors are hoping to refer me to either a care home or supported accommodation. I'm very mobile, still have a good appetite. I was emergency repatriated by the British Embassy/Home Office after I got trapped in rural Cambodia. I will contact you either by phone or website soon. Much Appreciated.
@@Steveinthailand It's good to hear you aren't having any mobility issues and that you've still got your appetite. Fingers crossed you can soon leave the hospice and move to more suitable accommodation back in the UK. We look forward to hearing from you. Take care, Steve. 💜

My mom had problems going camping complaining of stomach pain! Lost lots of weight! Dr told her drink more water take laxatives. The blood work was fine. Went on for a year and a half. We finally found out it was pancreatic cancer. She suffered too long died at 70.

If you make it to 70 you’ve won the game, a lot of people don’t make it that far.

Hopefully Philippine medical institutions in our country got such informations too. Our doctor do not know how to treat it😢 My mom fought her pancreatic cancer, and eventually rested in peace last October 19, 2023.
My friend's mom (aged 57) is SERIOUSLY ILL, but the doctors are NOT telling us WTF it is, cuz they don't have enough 'conclusive evidence' to diagnose/prognose her. Basically just telling LIES, and NOT being honest about her illness. Well, she is put on MORPHINE now and I seriously doubt that could be a sign of anything good. She feels INTENSE PAIN in her spine, that spreads all the way to her hands/feet. When she sits down to eat, she has NO appetite and also feels pain in her throat and stomach. Her skin is all blackened from the side-effects of Morphine (multiple doses per day), and she needs help moving around cuz her legs are WEAK. It's been like 90+ degrees lately, and she is all bundled/covered up in heavy winter clothes and CAN'T leave the house. At this rate, I don't think she's gonna last very long. I've asked various people (pharmacists and herbalists), and most of them told me it could be some form of TERMINAL CANCER. What do YOU think it might be?
@@OtomoTenzi WOW! TELL THEM YOU WANT ALL INFORMATION OR THREATEN SECOND OPPENION OR LAWYER!
I know 7 people who have undergone cancer treatment. 5 of them were british two of them were tramps (one from Eire). Only two survived You can guess which ones (why is this)?
I thought that floating poo meant you were eating enough fiber, and that was a good sign?
Hi Marie, Thank you for your question. Pancreatic cancer can cause diarrhoea (runny poo) and constipation (when you find it harder to poo). If you have diarrhoea for more than 7 days and you don’t know why, contact your GP or call NHS 111. Your GP may do blood and poo tests. If you have lost weight and have diarrhoea or constipation, your GP should refer you for an urgent scan. Pancreatic cancer can also cause pale, oily poo. This is called steatorrhoea. Poo may be pale, oily, smell worse than normal, and be difficult to flush down the toilet. This is caused by fat in the poo. It happens if pancreatic cancer has affected your digestion, so that fat in your food isn’t digested properly. Hope this helps! - Ruth
My cousin's husband lost his battle this morning
I'm so sorry to hear this, Tom. Sending you all lots of love. 💜
How old?
Thank you for highlighting this area. There are few doctors that really understand the impact of EPI (or PEI). Dr. Freedman is another good one to check for those suffering. He has an in depth article on Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency written with Dr. Struyvenberg that anyone with EPI should read. Another really helpful resource was the book Primal Pancreas.
Infuse Vitamin C with the chemo.
RIP Miss Pepe, you raised the greatest chef of all time.
Doctors don't do the right test when people complain about things. I'm in the same boat. Had many symptoms, enzyme spike, weight loss, abdominal discomfort. GP just said pancreatitis no further test until 2 months later I complained about left side back pain. Kaiser. Grrrrrrrr
Did Vivienne find out why she had got the acid reflux? I have the same problem (never had it in the past) and my poop is also changed in color and density. But they have found nothing usual in the X-ray, ultrasound and CT scan.

Hi Michael, thank you for your comment. We know that access to PERT is incredibly important for people affected by pancreatic cancer, crucial to managing symptoms and maintaining a good quality of life. We also know that having trouble accessing PERT is incredibly stressful and worrying. We're working hard to ensure key stakeholders are treating PERT supply issues as a priority and taking urgent action to address the situation. We have met with the UK Government Department of Health and Social Care, as well as the main PERT supplier to discuss the supply issues and understand what plans are in place to address these. We will continue to raise this with whoever forms the next government. We are working with relevant stakeholders including specialist health professionals and other patient charities to develop guidance and information around PERT supply issues. We have information to support patients who are experiencing problems, on our website. You can also contact our specialist nurses on the Support Line for information and support if you are running low on PERT. We can help with managing symptoms linked to a lack of enzymes. Please be aware though that we can’t help you access PERT - we can only provide information. In the longer team, we are also starting to look at how research may help us to find alternative ways to make PERT. We hope this helps! If you need any support, you can reach our specialist nurses on freephone 0808 801 0707. 💜
