Your #1 Channel for Scientific Writing and Academic Success!
Hi there, my name is Philip and I am the creator behind shribe! master your studies. In 2018, I started a PhD in Information Systems and also a TH-cam channel in German language, on which I shared all my learnings about scientific writing and academic success. The German channel now counts over 250 tutorials and 50.000 subscribers.
Fast forward to today, I have finished the PhD and work as a university lecturer in Australia. So I thought the next logical step would be to make the contents of shribe! also available to an English-speaking audience!
If you need help with your research papers, methods, or analyses, this channel is for you. Don't hesitate to comment under any video if you have questions. :)

You’re in the early stages of your thesis and have decided to conduct interviews to gather empirical data. But now comes the big question: How many interviews do you actually need? Five? Ten? Fifty?
This is one of the most common questions I get asked, and the answer is - it depends.
Don’t worry, though. In this video, I’ll walk you through how to determine the optimal number of interviews for your study.

You might have heard the phrase, “There are no fixed rules in qualitative research.” But what does that really mean? Unlike quantitative research, where sample size is often determined using statistical calculations, qualitative research is more flexible. Each qualitative study has different goals and uses different methods. This variability means there’s no universal number of interviews that’s always right-just guidelines and recommendations.
Luckily, Wutich and colleagues (2024) tackled this exact question in their paper. They developed a step-by-step flowchart to help you figure out the right number of interviews for your study.

Thank you for this! Simple & concise! Definitely helping me for my assignment. Looking forward to more research themed videos for beginners 🥹
Great to hear :) I’m working on more!
Finally could understand what is going on in SLR and PRISMA. Thanks dude!
Helpful content, thanks
How to remove duplicates in Prisma
You compare all titles from articles for each database search and if the same article appears multiple times you remove them from your sample so that each article only appears once in your sample.
Thank you.
Thanks for thus content. You've really simplified it for me to understand the concepts. I appreciate it.
It was so nice.i wish it could more detailed one ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful explanation 🎉🎉
This video came in handy. Thank you.
What editing software you have used for editing this video. Please 🥺🙏 tell me
Wat methods can be used in qualitative research if you develop existing theories
You mean extend existing theories? You can use the same methods but with a deductive or adductive logic/coding approach. This can be thematic analysis, content analysis or some grounded theory approaches like the one by Strauss and Corbin, in which you incorporate existing theories or concepts in your analysis. Best of luck!
@ so the Gioia method is also possible? And if so what would be the best approach in your eyes?
Sir, for the deductive thematic analysis, where can we found the framework for the step? May I know, because for like usual inductive we can follow Braun and Clark (2006) 6-step Guide to Good Thematic Analysis.
Once you used the Winston AI, all your ai generated content will detect this as ai because this is one of the most accurate ai detector that you will use
One of the best videos I have seen on this topic. I am reading Braun and Clarke and this video adds clarity. Thanks
Well articulated
Thank you. Put on some more about coding
Will do
Good evening, I'd like to thank you for your brief explanation of tematic analysis. However, I have a question, in fact I'm working on the excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages between university students. My research question is what is the knowledge of young people aged 18-24 regarding excessive alcohol consumption for current and future biopsychosocial health. My theoretical framework is Bronfenbrenner's bioecological theory of human development. My concern is that with this theory I should define the themes? Thank you very much for your reply.
This helped me a lot! Thank you. I already checked other videos and your all videos are very beneficial.
Can you plz elaborate how we can use B&C 6 Steps in media studies ... How i can generate themes from videos ....

philosophy is the people devouring the planet refusing to accept reality. the planet is primary. start there.
Now that I've got a good grasp on PRISMA and SLR, thanks to your video... it’d be great if you could do a follow-up video on how to conduct the SLR step by step. Plus, using AI would be a nice bonus!
Hey thanks for your comment. I’ve done a video on the whole SLR process here: th-cam.com/video/6_rK-c3WgEQ/w-d-xo.html Will think about a video on AI support for this! Best of luck! 🤞
@masteryourstudies oh I see... I'll check that out... Thanks

excellent thank you ! you should get more like
Thanks 🙏
Hi! Excellent job! Thank you so much!
Thanks 🙏
very informative. thanks
No worries! 😇
Can thematic analysis serve the same or a similar purpose in most cases? Do you think grounded theory is used incorrectly in the literature often? I also see papers that say they use "elements" of grounded theory and the process they use looks a lot like thematic analysis.
Great question! You are right, some studies claim to "borrow" GT techniques, for example to code qualitative data. In this case, one should not claim to have done a "GT study" but only borrowed the techniques (which ones?). This is fine, but yes, a thematic analysis could serve the same purpose. If you want to develop a model or a theory, for which you need to code relationships between variables, for example through theoretical coding, thematic analysis is not powerful enough. In this case, you have to go with GT. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for this vid! :))
You’re welcome 😊
Do not obfuscate 😊
There is false and true interpretation of a text. The guideline is psychoanalysis.
Either you understand it, or you don't. Biblical hermeneutics is idiotic garbage, because monotheism is deliberately created falsehood and stupidity. Let's divide the history of Western Civilization to pre Socratic meanderings and post Platonic drivel 😊
You make complex topics seem simple!
Such a valueable video, thanks a lot! Got great results via AI and yoru instruction in a business case analysis
I’m glad it worked for you! 👏

Yt recommended this video
Very instructive, thank you so much!
really helpful, thank you. I would appreciate further videos :)
Thanks for commenting! Sure, I have some more in the works on specific GT coding techniques, theoretical sampling... I'll try to prioritise those.
If we are going to analyz major themes of a novel under some theoretical framwork , coding will be necessary ? Or highlight ing and underlining will be enough?
I would always recommend supporting your coding with a software such as nvivo, taguette, whatever you prefer.
Sub themes are necessary sir?
no they are not necessary. You can have a strong thematic analysis with a few main themes. But... the question is not what is necessary, but what comes out of your coding ;-)
Hi this is very useful.
Thanks!
আমি কিছুই বুঝি নাই 😢😢😢😢
I can contact you for thematic analysis
is there a prompt "template" we can use for this?
I am wondering the same.

are you saying objectivism and constructivism are ontological stands?
No these are epistemologies. Possible ontologies would be realism or empiricism.
