DIY Microlocs Installation Process | Two-strand twists | Freestyled part sizes
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I'll be showing you how I installed my DIY micro locs using two-strand twists. I did not use any measuring tools to make my loc sizes even, I just freestyled with the sizes. This entire process took me three days (could have taken less time honestly) and turned out great. Let me know if you have any questions below, thanks for watching! I’m glad you asked questions!! You are paying for a service! Maintain your locks girl!!
Such a great video! I am currently doing my DIY Locs and I am nervous for the journey but much more prepared. Thank you for posting 🙏🏾
No need to be nervous, you're gonna do great!
Nah, she is already looking at your scslp and hair when she reties off she cares about her clients she would tell you.
You’ve lived my exact journey. I have Microlocs, I installed them myself. I don’t know what the heck I’m doing but at the same time, I’ve had issues with the loctician. Sigh……. Now I’ve just decided to keep doing them on my own, no matter how they look.
I know how you feel. I'm sure you're doing amazing!
I’ve felt the sameee way about my new Microlocs. This video has been super comforting and helpful. Still not sure what I am doing but I feel hopeful now!😊
If it makes you feel better, I'm also not sure what I'm doing and it's been a year. We're all really just winging it 😂
I just got my second perfect derma peel today, first was 4 weeks ago. So far I’ve had great results, I would say about a 70% improvement in my hyperpigmentation
That's amazing! My skin was smooth and appeared brighter but it's been months now so it doesn't quite look the same.
I had locs with extensions for a year now and just by watching this video i feel like im doing everything wrong 😭
I'm sure you're fine lol I don't know how much different it is maintaining regular vs extensions
GREAT VLOG (: THANKS
Your locs look good. I fortunately found a good loctician. She has combined at 10 of my locs, which is frustrating, but I don’t want to do my own reties. I had stopped braiding and banding at 7-8 months, but now I’m back to braiding and banding due to slippage.
Wait, she combined without your permission? 👀 Please say she didn't because I'm about to be upset on your behalf.
Recorded this in February and here I am posting it 5 months later lmao. Anyway, enjoy!
u got a cute dimple
Lol thank you!
I had locs and was lazy but also experiencing depression so I wasn’t consistent with my retwists a couple months and it showed. Cut them and now 6 months later I’m looking at micro locs. That you for your honesty it really is helpful. Also, I was today years old when I found out the dry cleaner doesn’t automatically clean. And my big mid 30s age maybe should’ve known too. lol at least now we do!
Thanks for watching! I hope you're doing much better now 🫶🏾 I think we all just learned this but they actually clean, just not with water 😂
7/10/24 Braidloc❤
So helpful. My installation is Tuesday
I hope you love your install 🙌🏾
@@astoldbymeso I chickened out for Tuesday lol. But got my life together and ended up having them installed the following Saturday. I love them. I cannot believe I did it but I did and now I’m so happy
👏🏾 So proud of you! I hope you continue to love them at every phase! ❤️
Thank you for sharing, love! I watched your video when you shared you are restarting your micrlocs. They look good! I've had a few not so positive experiences with locticians at the start of my journey so I retied my hair myself for maybe 8 months. By the grace of god, a friend introduced me to my current loctician who I now see regularly for my reties.
Omg!!! I watched you when you first installed yours! I can't seem to catch a break with locticians and I'm learning that the self-retie life is just not for me but we'll see what happens. Thank you for watching! ❤️
I don’t know who your dealing with but if who does your loc retie should say something thing to you and should assess your hair because that is just good customer service and will ensure your patronage. When they give you the ex sample like u got run because it’s just a matter of time before something happens and makes u feel comfortable.
Nahhh that locticion sounds bogus. I would not be going there anymore
Guess what? I ran to another one, and another one after that...all disappointing 😭
@@astoldbymesooh no I’m so sorry 😭
I'm 5 days into my loc journey, and I have no intention of seeing a loctician. Humans have been locking their hair for thousands of years, and I doubt that the ancient people of India had locticians. But getting back to the 21st Century, I can use TH-cam University and learn how to maintain my hair myself.
I get it. I think the biggest issue rn is people just don't have the time anymore and depending on how small your locs are, it can be very labor intensive.
How do you reloc, do you use the interlock method?
Yes! I interlock!
Thank you for sharing! Recently DIY my microlocs and just want to get them to that matured stage with the least amount of complications. 🤦🏾♀️
I get it! Good luck! 🤞🏾
I think if you call yourself a "loctician" you should be able to do with or without a grid. C'mon, you wanna get paid like one, do the work like one.🤷🏾♀️ Period!
I think all their clients have sisterlocks and grids so they don't want to bother with me 🤷🏿♀️
Awesome tips! I'm looking forward to restarting my locs🥰
You got this!
Welp looka there...I just learned something new too! I had know idea they don't wash (unless requested) at the cleaners 😮😊
For tip 1, braid and band during wash day or outside of wash day too?
I only do it for wash day!
Update: I've gotten a lot of comments and now I know it's not normal for a loctician to not make sure the rest of your hair is good outside of reties! Y'all I've been bamboozled by these people and I want to fight 😭 since posting this video, I've experienced 2 more locticians and I'm ready to write a book called "Surviving loctician trauma" 😭
Good idea, write the book
Write the book😂
How did you comb your locs out? I want to comb mine out for that same reason
I just took a tiny rat tail comb, conditioner, water, and combed it out for weeks. I'm loc'd back up though! ☺️
If my dry clean doesn’t include wash 🧐 we might have a problem.
😂😂 technically it's washed, just not with water
I just got mine done today
How exciting! 🥺
Literally same with me, my Loctician was doing reties ONLY . I didn’t have a healthy set of sister locks & didn’t even know until I moved states & went to get a consult before my next retie ….. I didn’t have time to comb mine out so I literally cut my locs off 🥴
I'm so sorry this happened to you. Was the person an official sisterlock consultant?
I’ve got all of the above. Not the frizz but uneven, holes, there’s too small, thinning in certain spots. I just want to do a new set.
Do you think combining them might help the size and thinning? Go have a professional look at your hair first!
Being upset about questions is so weird! You dodged a red flag
Like, that was crazy to me. I guess they assume that if I ask a lot of questions, I might be problem client.
@@astoldbymesosounds like they anticipate causing problems then lol.
It seems most Loctician feel they are doing their client a favour
Which is craaazy, like I'm literally paying you!
Please do we have to braid and band before bed or just on wash days?
Personally, I only braid and band before washing
At what stage should it start to braid and band please, I just started mine now for 4 days ago
You should probably start when you first install your locs but don't stress if you didn't!
Thank you so much for this video... I intend to lock my hair before the end of this year. This was so informative. Thank you ❤
Thank you for watching! ❤️
You had a bad loction...how can she not tell you she can see your hair. That is bad practice smh. She did not have to start your locs to give you advice.
I listened to you because I enjoy your grammar and how you express yourself … ok bye bye loctician 1, 2 on to the 3rd. 😊 wishing you well P on my 6 month mark - sisterlocks.. learnt a lot
Thank you so much! I'm not moving on to another loctician because I'm scared 😮💨 Congrats on 6 months!
The dry cleaning story is just dumb. She's just trying to justify what she's doing and that's wrong.
Now I know it was just a tactic to get more money out of me. I finally walked away from her 😔
My hands were in my hair when you started with number 5. Its not easy yooh😂
Ngl my hands are still in my hair A LOT! When I'm not busy, I put on my bonnet to keep myself from playing with it.
I have 4c hair, and started my locs with braids but they still unraveled.
I think some people are luckier than others 😩 I've only experienced unraveling at my edges, no where else
Looove this video, soooo informative. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what was the difference between the two.
Thank you for this! I was doing it all wrong
Happy to help! There's no one way to do it, it's whatever work best for you
Thank you for your advice. I’m newly loc yeasterday . You should have seen how fast i got up to get my bonet and band my hair.
😂 the bonnet is essential!
Wise words❤
I started my journey on Aug 2nd ❤. I mostly do my own reties 🤗
That's amazing! Do you know how many you have?
Question: why didn’t you have a loctician start your locs?
Great question! Have you seen the cost of these things? I would have had to pay about $1500-1700 for my installation.
@@astoldbymeso woooowww I only paid $500 for mine. I get it now! 😂
Must be nice 😩
@@astoldbymeso $1700 is over twice my rent! And would they still make someone like me with a small frohawk pay that amount?
@sexyy4life it depends on how long your hair is and density. You might pay significantly less for a frohawk
I pray you're able to continue your lock journey healthy And aware you're locks beautiful
Thank you so much! I pray so too ♥️
Check out learning about knotted locks.
I looked into it a while ago but the videos I saw (from whoever started the technique(were very vague and heavily filtered
@@astoldbymeso the secrecy is truly baffling. If they want people to know, they should make the technique widely available for everyone, and not just for DIYers behind a $600 paywall.
@SkyeID right? I'm guessing they want to patent the technique (just like sisterlocks), probably why they're hiding it so no one steals their idea.
Your Locs look lovely! You’ve done a great job!
Thank you!
