    I have a set of those experimental coils, but I will admit I never tried them on the Joule thief circuit but there is no reason they wont work. For the joule thief circuit just about any coil can work to be honest. You can even use the small inductors that almost look like resistors. You can also buy any common mode current choke and use them. The core adjusts both the inductance and transfer of energy between the coils and in this circuit it also effects the frequency. You get more power with the core normally but you also get more power closer to resonance of the coils. So when you put the core in you are balancing between inductance, energy transfer and frequency. Common mode chokes will only have one set frequency, but they are super cheap and work well. You could always adjust the frequency by adding a capacitor to the circuit. Keep up the experiments!

    I've seen similar - lower amp draw with load. The resistor, in my experience, plays a key factor. The transistor's oscillation at the right voltage is agitating the electrostatic environment, and the load places greater stress on the resistor to behave as an entry point for ambient charge. It's very counter-intuitive, because in a sense, the resistor behaves more like a diode with respect to (bringing in charge from) the electrostatic environment. Thanks for sharing this.

    • @hydniq3327
      @hydniq3327 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@hydniq3327 Glad to be part of this important conversation. As I said, it's counter-intuitive, but once you grasp what's going on, it opens up one's understanding of what constitutes an "open system." Our electrical/electronic world view, so-to-speak, is built on closed system electrodynamics. Classical closed system thinking would suggest the 5W resistor is excessively high for this setup (- a line of thinking valid perhaps, within its own paradigm). However, I prefer to think of it (the resistor) as a mediator thru which the dielectric or electrostatic medium is stressed, and in a moment of temporary imbalance, pushes charge back into the circuit via the resistor's interaction between circuit and ambient charge. Bearden, Stiffler, Don Smith and others all seem to refer to this dynamic in their own words and/or demonstrations.

    I would have one coil on one pipe and the other coil on another pipe separated by a wooden dowel. This is static which drains through everything so you need to stop thinking conventional electronics. You need to think rubbing a balloon on your dog builds a static charge in the balloon, but the balloon is rubber. So rubber and tape are not a good insulator for static charge, but glass is. I would take 2 beer bottles make some card board tubes for the necks and wind the coils on the card board. Then I would take a bolt and put it into the necks of each bottle. I would then tape each bottle to a wood board so I could adjust the coil wire gap. Try that and see what you get.
