"MO MONEY, MO PROBLEMS"??? SOMETIMES!!!
Sometimes as skaters, we get blinded by high prices, exhaustive (and misleading) technical jargon, and last but not least, price...
Sometimes these things, as well as market scarcity make us think "the grass is always greener".
This video serves as a testament to all the times those ideas didn't go the way we planned.

In the world of #rollerskating there's always the burning question: "Can I use this for "xxxxxx?" some plates are geared toward one or 2 things exceedingly well, and mediocre at best, at others, which usually results in a compromise. This compromise usually entails that when and if a skater decides to take up another discipline of #skating they will have to switch to another plate. In turn, thi...

if i'm normally a size 7.5 in women's for regular shoes, should i go with the men's size 6 option for these? or even smaller?
@@syiona there should be a size chart on the website for the conversion
🔥Wednesday’s Adult SK8 was fire when I dropped in from OKC! 🔥This rink was AWESOME
@@2DLAKE2 thanks!!!!!
Thank you for your video: I want to buy these plates - upgrade from Avante aluminum 6) I wear a 9.5 US mens boot. Riedell 220s.) I skate mostly indoors on quads, dance, rhythm not so much speed but someitmes. To give you an example: I run rockered always on my inline skates (Seba High Lights) 4x80 the front and rear wheels are 2mm off the ground full time..) I like love this setup and won't ever go back to flat. I like the quickness and fast reaction of rocker. Will the Avenger's give me the same feeling - or close to what I like with inline rocker? Thank you in advance!
@@chaindriven61 it'll turn like a rockered setup definitely
So if they sell so well, why doesn't he keep making them? I just had my yellow wicked lips resurfaced and regrooved ( they were new old stock, just got hard from time sitting on a shelf ), so why won't he make more?
@ppipowerclass i can't answer on Scott's behalf, but I know it's a bit less labor intensive to make a 2 piece wheel, and he's been very busy at home, maybe one day he'll decide to make them again hopefully
@@rollerskateuniverse6763 I got an answer straight from him. They Royal Assassins are lightyears ahead of these. Ligher, more stable, and just better all the way around ( and currently still available! )
@@rollerskateuniverse6763 Here is a quote straight from him answering my question " Discontinued years ago. Royal Assassins lead the way. Lighter and same size. Much better for speed or general skating." The Bont Royal Assassin's are made by him, and are superior in every way.
@@ppipowerclass makes total sense
I know you are a jam skater and mostly review jam wheels, but.. I am very interested in the radar varsity plus, sure grip royal, and roll line devil (and magnum, any roll line artistic "d" durometer wheels)....you are the only guy in the universe who ca help us learn about these wheels
@@bradleysnyder8158 of course id love to help!
Thanks for your info
is it better to mount this plate standard ( more towards the rear of the boot putting the axle before the center of heel or forward of center, enjoy this summary
@cdrsales8870 this plate actually has the rear axle almost even with the end of the plate; which requires the plate itself to be mounted pushed forward considerably in order to have a comparable axle placement to any other plate
Are spacers necessary? I noticed moxi skates don't come with them but sure grips do.
@@___jadeeee bearing spacers? not at all!
@rollerskateuniverse6763 tysm! I'm learning a lot from all your videos and appreciate your content so much!!!
@___jadeeee any time, happy to bring people up to speed
holy crap it's the rollercade! i love that rink
I'm fairly new to the skating world and I thought I was going crazy over navigating weights. I feel like it is so weird that these manufacturers don't share the exact weights since I can easily get the exact dimensions/weight for a whole HOST of tools, sporting goods, and furniture out there in the world, even for products where it might not matter so much. It stands to reason that something so important for performance should be a known quantity before buying! Thank you for making these videos!
@@ArynatHome a lot of the stuff varies by model, but i agree there should be something to go off of
What's your opinion of sure grip boardwalk stock cushions?
@___jadeeee they're fine for a wide variety of skaters and skating, but if you're 100 pounds or under they're going to be more difficult to control
@rollerskateuniverse6763 thank you!!
I have always skated on a Proline. I skated on a Power Trac a couple of times many years ago. It's curious that the Proline is still so much more expensive than this.
Do those skates fit true to size ?
@@d3arb0rns they do, they're in men's sizing, however
Dude...we cant see the skate....please show the physical skate more in the videos. You wave them quickly into frame every now and then
@@bradleysnyder8158 will do!
Best purchase i made. Went from a plastic plate to this, and i can do everything due to them being versatile. Middle work, JB and anything else can be done on this plate. Not to mention, you can tighten them to make it feel more traditional to a 10 degree plate.
I really appreciate the video. I just got back into skating after about 10 years I weigh 280lbs. The cushions on my skates are 85A and even with cranking them way down there was too much flex I got the red 93A cushions and it made a world of difference enough flex I can maneuver and enough stiffness it doesn’t feel like I’m going to lose control.
@@thedarksidehaunt360 happy to help!
Bro i don't have a pencil 💀
Thanks for informative vid! I have Douglass-Snyder super deluxe, mounted on Ridell Royal shoes. I was living in Bulgaria in 1980, an American guy came and left them for me because he had a better pair. I skated on them for a decade: first till ‘85 then army, then skated on them till 1990 when I moved to Canada. Now I live in France and last month I made my mother send me these skates, I started to skate on them again 😝😂. The wheels are Kryptos. So they are still so fast. I only have to tighten two of the trucks, there is a play seen on the pivot cups area. I just can’t understand if the pivot cups are rubber or permanent steel….
@RosssRoyce of course! Pivot cups on all they snyders were and are typically made of steel, so it's always best to make sure there's a littler grease blinded there because of the metal to metal contact
@ I encountered another problem: the small hexagonal key needed to adjust the cousions doesn’t fit my standard European keys: 5mm is too small and the next 5,5mm is too big. Do you know by chance the right size for this key on these Douglass-Snyder super deluxe? Thanks so much for replies!
@RosssRoyce i believe it's 3/16" They're american plates, all fasteners are in American "standard"
Trying to find these wheels anywhere is impossible lol

So would you recommend the 172 over the godfathers just curious? I have the godfathers and was wondering I didn’t really research the Godfathers like that
@@Keepthefaith116 i like the godfathers because it's a comparable fit and durability for half the price. Those get my vote

@@bobayekadabogeyman9819 Marshall Mort on FACEBOOK
During this test, did you loosen your trucks?
@ClutchupJB nope all 4 trucks were tightened until I couldn't spin the cushions anymore and left there. This was repeated on all 4 sets of cushions
vnla-luna-avanti-indoor-rollers-skates after just six months the boot starts to separate from the sole
@olegpi4140 ive heard of it happening but only 3x. They've sold thousands and there weren't failures on those, maybe you got a dud
This helps a lot to show a comparison of all the hardnesses. Thanks!
I have a pair of Chicago Professional plates that look very similar to the Snyder Super Deluxe, pivots, rubber cushions, offset toe stop, polished finish etc. They are mounted on Riedell boots that I purchased in 1985. Love this set up.
@idaho2ndgens240 those and the chicago GM2's were great plates
@@rollerskateuniverse6763 I wonder how Chicago got around Snyder's patent? They look almost identical except for maybe the mounting flange on the truck is shaped slightly different. I will have to check out the GM2's. You have a great and informative channel.
@idaho2ndgens240 thank you so much!!!!
So a already expensive plate has to have loads of money thrown at it to fix all of it's problems, i think I'll stick to roll-line
Do you know if 48 mm radar crush wheels would be compatible with this plate?
@peapodluv not off the top of my head, but very few plates if any work with those wheels safely. Arius and the sure grip lo-ride are guaranteed safe
That is so awesome!
Yo good shit man you said some real shit 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾😎🙌🏾
I subscribe to you u saved me from buying different plates did not know this at all on pivot and I rolled on them for 20+years wow thank u
Snyder never gave me that wrench and I bought my skates from Skate nation back in the day or the note so they need to include your video in there papers when they people buy plates
You know, I commented on your other video saying that I did this actually I didn’t so you I apologize I’m going to see if this helps me from snapping king pens because I go through them like crazy
THANK TOU!! I had mine stuck on for so long ! It still took a bit of effort but my board is super old !
Thanks for doing these reviews. Im in the marketbfor new boots and am overwelmed. I was leaning towards the 220s. Which do you prefer between wifis, 336 and 220s? Or differently put, what would you say would be the significant decider if you were choosing between the 3.
What kind of wheels and bearings are you using on those bad boys?
@joem2228 those were von merlin kats and vanilla reaction bearings
now what happens if you cannot remove the wheel from the bearings?
How do you feel about the Sure Grip Snyder Royal Lite plates? I artistic freestyle skate so I would like to know the ride height, weight, and adjustability on a Riedell 4200 boot.
I’m in SA, does the Rollercade sell these?
Very helpful explanation on sizing considerations.
Are u giving away any of those vanathane rentals
@@idribbleforfun4039 I don't have any of those anymore
Are u giving away any of those wheels
Hi i hope you see this seeing this is an old video but I have some sure grip fame wheels 95a they are perfect indoors but once I get outside I lose my ability to be as smooth as I am indoors like everything takes so much more effort so I’m wondering since they are grippy as u can get for indoor wheels are they just too grippy for outdoor since obviously using them outdoor on unpolished concrete will be more grippy than using them inside so should I just get a harder wheel to combat the grip because I’ve tried skating in soft wheels to see if it’s the fsct the small rocks are slowing me down because it’s one of those concretes that are just made up of lots of small rocks but I hated skating in them so maybe I should get harder wheels
@Devon1_ absolutely get another set in a different hardness to adjust for different surfaces
How do I get a set. I am so frustrated that I can not get a set. My skates are blue and i am limited to Bont FFX. is there any hope of getting a set of these wheel or maybe the next run? BTW any potential of a 7mm bearing? which will be even faster :-)
@@valuetermite these wheels take both 7 and 8 mm bearings just as all wheels do. The only hope of finding either of these colorways is unfortunately left to the used market. The next drop should be in a few months, so stay tuned!
Im sorry man but why did you put a horizontal video, in vertical, with these blurs on the top/bottom. Instead of just making a normal youtube horizontal video. We're on youtube not tiktok. The actual video is taking 10% of the screen size, and your video is _already_ filmed horizontally. So why don't just put it like normal
@AdowTatep I appreciate it, learning the stuff about making videos isn't exactly my forte versus knowing the equipment... Fortunately, I have learned how to film the stuff correctly as of late, thanks for watching!
I got these a month ago and they are so light and low, but the click-adjustment washer (with the "X" cutout) eats into the threads on the kingpin, they should use plastic/teflon for this part in my opinion. The kingpin could also use a general redesign because i hear other commenters are breaking their kingpins!
🌟🌟🌟I believe a slater’s “weight,” is a direct correlation to the cushion-nothing to do with height.🌟😊🌟 Thank you, for doing a physical test.👌
