Don't camp there! If you don’t know why, go home!
Never been on top of Whittleton, that campsite looks amazing with creek next to it. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video! Is there any way I can contact you? I have a location question.
Your videos are great! Is there anyway I can contact you? I have a hiking question about one of your videos.
Thanx. I could call you.
This hiking and backpacking is a paradise! 🌲⛰ The scenic views and the thrill of the hike make it an absolute must-watch. Thanks friend for taking us along on this beautiful journey through nature's wonders! We join your channel🏞🥾
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of my fav places in the Gorge. Amazing pics and video!
Thanx. It's an amazing place.
I wonder how much longer Jailhouse Rock will stay attached to the cliff. When you see it from a distance, you can see that it is seriously undercut. Great trail for those seeking solitude, especially during the Fall crush. Thanks for the beautiful shots, Old Man.
I'm just glad it didn't collapse while I was camping on it! Actually, a couple of people showed up about 10 PM in the rain and shined a light on my tent, but otherwise I didn't see anyone. Thanx for watching.
_What an amazing hiking adventure video, the beauty and exciting of marvelous Jailhouse Rock neighborhood scenery are clearly and distinctly explored. Thank you for sharing your insight and expertise with the world._
Thank you very much!
Is that Ravin rock?
Nope. It's Tarr Ridge West.
Nice hike! Love the Gorge but haven’t made my way to Tarr Ridge yet. New subscriber here! Another Kentucky hiker!
Awesome! Thank you!
awesome!
Thanks!
Hi Ken
Eerily similar to Tarr Ridge East. 😅
Great as always. Lovin the 90's sitcom music too!
Tarr Ridge West isn't the most adventure packed trail in the Gorge, but it's a really nice peaceful walk and that great view at the end makes it worthwhile. Love the drone footage.
That climb up to the last overlook used to be somewhat easier with a tall "cat ladder" made from a pine log. It was a bit scary, but probably not as strenuous as the rope climb. On the other side of that ridge top is an arch: Flying Arch.
I'd like to see that. Rango Arch is somewhere around there too.
Sick. Glad you made it up that scramble to the last overlook!
Getting my pack up was the hard part. I think it was worth it.
Starting @5:00, what an intense part of the trail. What was your gear weight including camera equipment? Awesome videography especially ideally the drone footage. @8:50 Wow, those clouds look amazing compared to the massive rock formation and the trees!❤
Thanx for watching. It wasn't as intense as it looks. I'm just old. My pack was probably 15-18 pounds - mostly water. My drone weighs less than 9 oz. I got lucky with the clouds.
Your videos are outstanding. I'm blown away by those drone videos. As usual, you have knocked another one out of the ball park.
Thanx. I've broken the drone twice and repaired it twice. You might want to visit in person one of these years!
Love the scenery! I hope your drone is still in one piece 🙂
Actually, I busted an arm off of it again (same one as before). I was able to repair it like before with a part I got from Amazon in two days!
Great video. I love these arches and I love the Red!!!!
Thanks for taking me along on your journey! Where did you set up camp? Any campsites near Red Byrd Arch?
Actually, we just did a day hike. (Stayed at my cabin). You can camp anywhere. The route is not especially scenic.
@@theoldmountainman3899 Thanks for the tips! I'm debating between a trip to Red Byrd or Hopewell Arch this winter???
Hey Old Mountain Man. I met you on top of the rocks at Red River Gorge a few weeks ago. I was friends with Phil Henry back in HS. I was wondering what kind of drone you had. You said you really liked it and I am contemplating buying one. I figured you have had multiple and could have some good insight.
Howdy. I have a DJI Mini 3. It's widely considered the best drone currently out there for the money and size - 249 grams. It does more stuff than some of the larger drones. DJI is the top drone manufacturer. The bad news: the drone, screen controller, and one battery will set you back $909. If you get the controller that works with your phone, it's a little less. Of course, you can't do much flying with one battery and no charger, so you'll want to get the "Fly More" kit for just $189. Comes with two batteries, a nifty three battery charger, propellers, and case. If you don't have experience flying a drone, I'd suggest practicing with a cheap one first!
This video is amazing. You consistently hit it out of the park.
Great area I just backpacked there a few weeks ago with 26 other You Content Creators one of which was 81 years old beautiful and very accessable
Very impressive!!!
Thank you!
nice video!!! one of these days I'll learn my way around my drone!!!
👍
Hey my names Gary I was there with my friend Abram in this video when you were showing us your drone enjoyed meeting you and watching your vids
Thanx for watching.
Hey mountain man thanks for showing us your drone we really enjoyed talking to you
Any time!
Dang I was at Hanson's point the day before you. Would've loved to run into one of my favorite gorge youtubers out there on the trails. Maybe next time... Thanks for the content!
Looking great! Great job capturing everything on camera. It’s like you’re on the show Alone.
I AM on the show alone! Just me and my Mini 3.
Thank you Randy. You make some awsome videos.
You are very welcome
Wow, what kinda drone do you have and how do you get it follow you and point at you so well? Interesting decision to go with the drone noise, kinda eerie. Thanks 👍
DJI Mini 3. Active Trac Mode.
@@theoldmountainman3899 thanks. Love the videos
Dude, so good. Don't blame you for not taking the leap!
Cool drone footage around camp. Nice campsite too. I always love those creek areas
Thanks 👍
Epic.
Headed out there on thursday, can't wait. Thanks for the video! Too bad about the weather...
Oh and holy crap you met a friend at Friendship arch! That's awesome
Snow arch might be my favorite arch in the gorge. The way the light comes through it is amazing. I'm a little biased toward it bc it was my first ever "secret arch/trail" after stargap which I dont consider secret. Took my wife up there after which she no longer goes on secret trails with me... Took my daughter to Cherokee and she no longer goes on secret trails with me either haha. Thanks for the content!
Those probably aren't the best arches for women and children! Kinda surprised they made it! MM
What about seniors ;) Jk, I love the channel btw!
Thanks for the video! I hope you have better weather next time... ;)
Great spot for lunch!
Also, a great spot for "launch".
Hell yeah! Good job Randy!👍
Rock on!
cool vid!
Thanx for watching!
Awesome video! Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
Hell yeah, I’ll smoke a cigar when I get up there too
Awesome pictures ,great video.Really enjoyed it
Thanks for the tour!
Skyview Arch has some of the best crossbedding I've seen in Red River Gorge (so far).
Monotropa uniflora sometimes is called indian pipe.
