Futurama - Godfellas
A summary of the sections with "God" from Futurama season 4 episode 8 "Godfellas"
"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

Surreal how a science fiction comedy did such a great portrayal of the idea of a god as well as faith as a whole I love this show so much
I’ve lived by this mantra since the day I saw this episode as a kid. And it’s the 100% truth.
"That seems probable." 😂
now i kind of want a crossover between all depictions of good, all sitting in one room, from transformer's primus and unicron, to family guy and futurama! That'd be the greatest crossover ever!
Fry just wanted his brother back.
As you watch rezero, you realize how accurate this is towards subaru, he struggled to make things right, yet no one is aware of how detrimental his presence was on all their lives, if he didn't struggle as much as he did everyone he loved would've been dead and the future would've been a lot more grim. When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
Like, spinning a focusing lense just so that it happens to reveal god.... hehehehe no one would realize it indeed
Love this God it’s like Morgan Freeman as god. His quote of Sounds like an Opportunity
You can see the shocked look on the both of them that they question why Benders acting this way. They're probably thinking "D-Did he actually meet god?"
My favourite episode!
I'm wondering if the god here is actually god, or just pretending to be to teach Bender something. I mean how does god not know English until that moment he spoke to Bender? Or where Earth is, but knows when people are praying to them? If all prayers were reaching them, surely this god would already know these things. This god didn't even know it was god when Bender asked, they just said it was possible. I might be wrong, but it seems like this god just wanted to help Bender. And thought posing as god was the best way to do so, to teach him not to be so dependent on a god. And not to let people get so dependent on you. Just a theory though, idk if it'll hold up under scrutiny
This is prolly the best concept of God in any movie or TV show.
God said to Bender exactly what was needed for Bender to take action and save those Monks. "When you do things right..." that live gives me shivers and hope.
Wtf does borat have a ring on his right hand.?
i don't believe in god...but fry's "i wish i had bender back", and how he "pinged" god hit home. i had this cat, and he started getting this stuff in his eyes. so many cats i had died that way...so i looked him in the face, closed my eyes, and prayed for real for the first time in my life. all i said was "please don't die...". craziest thing? he didn't die. even through more craziness.
Sigh
He did do something. He taught someone to care and to do what is right. And he backs it up to make sure it goes well. He never makes mistakes.
The monks are searching for god. God sends the most irreverent entity in history to confirm gods existence. Magnificent
"This is, by a wide margin, the least-likely thing that has ever happened" is a top 10 line of the entire show
Season 3 was weird
this episode needs to be talked about more.
@3:42 those words accurately describe what happened when Futurama was revived in 2023!
3:06-3:11. Funny how God lies to Bender and that is considered the "wrong" thing to do. But, he ends up sending Bender back to Earth in the end. It truly shows that "right and wrong" really are just words. What truly matters is what you do.
Eh, I wouldn't call it 'lying' so much as 'selective disinformation.'
Coll😊
When you do things right , people won't be sure you've done anything at all. 😂👍
When you do things right people won't be sure if you have done anything at all
Looks like a album cover
I feel so sorry for Fry and Bender. They both go through depression after being separated.
Bender crying at the beginning is me and my depression. I feel sorry for him.
Literally Spore galaxy
"When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all" That always stuck to me.. somehow
Taoism
Floating in space seeing nebulas, stars, and galaxies is one of my dreams of dying slowy losing your breath and seeing those things is one f*ckin beautiful way to die.
Me too brother
This episode ended really effecting my religious beliefs and I doubt that was the intent of the writers
Bro, this God Galaxy might be the most powerful creature in all of fiction
Lol what. He isn’t omnipotent or omniscient. He’s not that powerful compared to gods of other universes or fictions.
@@dylanf3108he's probably not omnipotent but i'm pretty sure he's omniscient. He said he knows what bender will do before he does it and you could argue he didn't send bender immediately back to earth because it wasn't the right time to do so yet
@@dylanf3108 It's up to interpretation if he is or isn't, that's the entire premise, "When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all".
This is Futurama at its absolute peak.
2:10 The Greatest Line In Futurama History
I honestly believe that if there is a God it would be a lot like this
I wouldn't mind a god like this either.
That is how God is. 1 Timothy 4:10 - The New International Version (NIV) 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
Free will baby, the number one respected law in the universe
like how god explains things to Bender in a way he can understand. "You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker, or a pickpocket."
He does that quite a lot
It actually makes sense. A light touch, not doing too much or too little like with what I put into my art.
@@carolinebergin4633 balance
God converted bender and got him to proclaim his message in action and doing.
Futurama got cancelled because we the people of the world didn’t deserve this esoteric and prophetic show. The creators and writers know the truth
"Compassion for All Living Things," - Yeah, that's clearly not God...Not the Abrahamic one at least.
How so?
@@traevon.m.The Abrahamic God destroys people's bodies and sends them to burn eternally
Bender: “did you say something ?” quote un-quote_God: “ uh…no no” That’s a hint people: “ a drop of water is not able to know what an ocean is” I. Krishnamurti
Oh cruel fate, to be thustly boned ask not for who the bone bones, it bones for thee....*destroys piano in poetic rage*
Anyone else in the back of your minds think of this when the subject of or you talk/pray to God? Cause i feel i do sometimes. Then again kinda think of the Simpsons good too.
Imagine if they got this right about how God thinks
They did. 1 Timothy 4:10 - The New International Version (NIV) 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
They did kind of get it right. It's like that joke about the devout worshiper who drowned. People keep arriving to help him and he rejects their help saying "No, I will wait for God to save me". Eventually he drowns and when he gets to heaven he furiously asks God "Why didn't you save me!", and God replies "I tried, I sent 3 people to get you". Even the devout man did not see God was acting through them. The Holy Spirit is alive and acts through us all. It is said that even the Devil is used by God for his works, showing God's absolute authority and his subtlety.
@@MrSirFluffyI wouldn't say 'being used' so much as 'being played'. There's a reason why the phrase 'being given enough rope to hang yourself' exists.
Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money …yes if you make it look like an electrical thing
He went down and spoke to Bender in a way he could understand.
Great episode
Ah good old 42, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
A great way of saying of how our predecessor s could have played a part and just be gone because of time
