Auburn University Raptor Center
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 ต.ค. 2019
The Auburn University Raptor Center is a regional rehabilitation and education facility which provides educational programming for those interested in learning about raptors and care to birds of prey in need.
Our education team travels and conducts educational programs throughout the Southeast in order to promote an awareness and appreciation for birds of prey. In addition, clients can schedule a private tour of the SRC or schedule a presentation at the on-site outdoor amphitheater. Each year, the center conducts around 300 public and private educational events to teach the public about raptor conservation, habitats, and ecology. Through these programs, approximately 25,000 people are educated by the center each year.

Auburn Raptor Center 50th anniversary
2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Auburn University’s Raptor Center and there is much to celebrate.
With a bold vision for the future focused on research collaborations, expanded outreach opportunities and plans to build a new home for its resident raptors, the center is poised to boost tourism and further elevate the Auburn brand, while bolstering its mission committed to raptor rehabilitation, education and conservation.
Five decades of steady growth, the rehabilitation and release of thousands of injured raptors, and a vibrant educational program promoting raptors to countless participants have made Auburn’s raptor center one of the most visible areas of both campus and its home unit, the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Beyond the critical work performed within the center’s walls, pregame stadium flights of the center’s resident eagles have raised awareness for raptors while building one of the most recognizable traditions in all of college sports.
And all of this is made possible through the efforts of a dedicated team, coupled with the support of generous donors.
As we embark on the journey that is our next 50 years, we will continue to grow our reputation as a national leader in raptor medicine and research, and as a One Health collaborator. We are poised to make the center one of the preeminent academic raptor centers in the nation and plans are underway to house it in an expanded world-class facility. This will allow us to better achieve our goals, increase our capacity and improve our standard of care, while offering visitors an outstanding experience that is uniquely Auburn.

Much of this cost is provided by the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. We have begun to offer fans the un...

Beat Week Day 3
มุมมอง 514 ปีที่แล้ว
Today, War Eagle VIII visited the College of Veterinary Medicine. This year the we are on track to admit over 300 raptors into our rehabilitation section. These raptors get the highest quality medical care possible at the College of Veterinary Medicine, but that comes with a price. Over $30,000 is spent annually caring for injured raptors. This year, because of that excellent medical care, we h...

Very cute owls 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉
I never knew that vultures had such adorable personalities 😊
60 years ago I had one for a pet. He was a wonderful pet. He eventually reverted to the wild.
It would help if you could play a recording of what they sound like.
Gorgeous 🐦
In Houston, one of those Screech Owls flew close to my head as I was going to my car to drive back home. When one of them perched on a tree, I though it was a baby owl, but turns out those owls are very small in adult size.
Have a pair of these in my neighborhood in Georgia. Super cool birds
I call it a great treat to hear one outside my bedroom window in the very early a.m. when I do.
😍 They are beautiful!
What a beautiful owl great info on this bird
this owl stole my cow i swear !
Great video. I'm glad I stumbled on yall.
Black vultures are so awesome. I have been taking care of two that were babies and the are grown now and live in the wild. They still come back to my home when there is no carion to get some chicken drumsticks which they love❤️❤️❤️. Very smart birds. Love them❤️❤️❤️
Today was my second day working with black vultures and I am just blown away by their personality and intelligence. Definitely some of my favorite birds to work with
I like to show people the back of their heads to see the fake face to deter predators. I volunteer with Eyes in the Sky in Santa Barbara. We had a pair of kestrels to show visitors to the museum of natural history. We have new kestrels -two-and a new Peregrine too.
I love vultures. That's so cool that they like to problem solve more compared to other raptors.
Black vulture or buzzard 0:56
IF YOU ARE THE SCARIEST THING IN THE ROOM WHAT ARE YOU YELLING?!!!
Beautiful birds! Thanks for what all of you do! ❤
So beautiful 😮
We have a nest of these hawks in our yard in Wichita, KS
I absolutely love their "screeches"! I used to love hearing them on nights especially after a thunderstorm rolled through when living in Michigan as a young man.
I love this owl, she just keeps going. It's such a comforting sound to hear and to watch them make it.
super informative man- you covered every topic we wanted to know about! we live in Hillsborough, NC in a development called "Falcon Ridge" on a street called "Talon Lane". It's a small development, out in the country, that at one time was the back-half bottomland of a still functioning family farm. We have a creek that runs thru to a old swampy pond that overflows into tha woods when we getta ol gullie washer. It's fulla cattails and about 2 zillion tree frogs and we got plenty a brushpiles too fulla mice and lizards...I say all that to say this- there aint a day goes by that we don't hear that famous Red-Shouldered call, or see them gliding, maneuvering so deftly thru the entangled branches just above the creekbed; or sitting patiently on a fence post overlooking acres of hay just waiting for the chance to strike. Beautiful, fascinating creations, indeed. But, I have always wondered to myself, "Who staked out this land our neighborhood sits upon? And did so long enough and well enough to know, that the only names suitable for the tract, were those making reference to its ancient and original inhabitants?". One day, I hope to be able to answer this family query. Until then, thank you for answering those questions that can be answered :)
they're all eyes O_O it's so adorable
I remember shining a spotlight in my Grandma’s barn ’ big old barn ‘ and seeing one of these looking back at me perched way up in the peak, very large one, I was probably 8 or 9 as a kid exploring and I remember it scared the heck out of me, those eyes glowing, I’ll never forget that, oh, owls are beautiful, magical creatures, great video ❤️
What is junipers story???
I really want to kiss the top of their heads...so precious...😍🥰🦉
Анг.мова ФУ ..пишіть на людській Українській мові ❤❤❤
You said their name comes from a loud noise they make. Yet, another video from a different owl expert I watched said this was a misnomer and they don't make this noise.
Thou shall not steal!
AWESOME!!! So glad I sighted her before hearing her call so I know it wasn’t a blue jay or mockingbird. 😅
THOSE ARE GARGOYLES!
What does daily care look like for Juniper / Stump?
I live in the Country and love to hear the call of the Screech Owls...it's a Haunting kind of call.
Nonsense. Word meaning is culturally determined. In the south vultures are buzzards.
Fantastic owls
Adorable owl
Cute owl
Beautiful Barn owl
From time to time I will hear Horned Owls in the woods around my house. I always feel like I've gotten a special gift when I hear them.
our black vulture loves puzzles!
Very informative, but it would have been nice to see her wings spread. More identification tips.
@5:47, what is that chirping sound she's making? A few summers ago, I ran into a Great Horned owl a lot, and it would make a more aggressive version of that sound if I passed under a streetlight it was perched on. (It would also violently kick off the top of it, and the whole thing would shake as it flew off) This one, btw- th-cam.com/video/7DUSXZP376A/w-d-xo.html
Stump looks like a stump ❤🎉😂
Juniper looks good
Several folks in the comments talking about rescuing dazed little screech owls, and how calm and sweet they were on the way to the Dr. We rescued a very angry little fellow that snapped at us, and dug his talons in my husband’s belly roll! Thought we’d never get him loose!! Oh but what a little precious guy - the rehabber told us after a few days he was released 💕🤩
I just love owls - everything about them ❤
Holy ravioli so cute 🥰
She is precious.❤
