My mom wasn't Italian but she said the same things....in fact a week before she passed away she said damn it loree you think your shit don't stink...my mom never cursed towards the end of her life but then out of the blue she was mad at me when I was trying to get her into the house from the car.......she didn't like that at all......she had fractured her hip and was in a wheelchair until I got her into the house abd then she could hold something to.get to her room

In all honesty, I had to lose the accent once I entered white collar America. I went to school in Westchester, and also entered the work force there. IBM is where I transitioned. If I speak very quickly, the accent resurfaces ... so guess what, it ain't totally gone. I _proudly_ can still speak perfect Bronx.
