Giant Stair Jumping Challenge!
Who will in this challenge of power v.s. endurance??
Powerlifting and wrestler Amer represents power.
And I'm representing endurance with my focus on running and Hyrox.

This is a VO2 Max speed session. With Hyrox athletes!
มุมมอง 1.4Kวันที่ผ่านมา
This was my VO2 Max workout this week. We went for 10x500m with 90 sec rest. Aiming to push hard to very hard on each rep! Working to improve my fitness and get below 17-minutes for the 5km. My friend Dom who is a very good Hyrox athlete led the session!

First 5km Parkrun of 2025!

This year I'm aiming to break 17-minutes at a Parkrun. Today was my first Parkrun of the year. Let's see how it went.
Can I run a sub 5-minute mile?

Attempting a Sub 18min 5km!

Attempting a sub-18 minute 5km, with the Kings Cross Track 5km in Sydney, Australia.
Fast pace
dog man is cheating the dog was pulling him along lol
Is that bloke an 81 minute pacer??? 😂😂😂
2:04 - I know nothing about this sort of stuff but I feel like the run up that Amer has gives him more power, while you have a shorter run up so you're starting with very low momentum That's just my observation though haha
Think you're on to something! I didn't even notice that run up. I also take a little hop on each stair. But that's mainly because I don't think I have the explosively to do it continuously like Amer. Such a different stimulus than pure running!
Awesome! But where is the KXTC representation on the scorecard? ;)
Looks like a great battle! So many people pushing on for first place 😂 well done
It was a really fun one! So much going on!
Guy with the dog was getting a tow. His time should be * Dog Assisted!
I may need to find a dog to help me with my 17 min 5km 🤔
@ 😀 - that was a rough route with a lot of grass, so you’ve already got a good few seconds in the bank. Find a faster course when you are really looking to set a time. 👍
Really enjoyed this video. As a Parkun youtuber in the Uk it is so nice to watch venues from the other side of the world! Keep up the training and im sure your 17 min goal will come soon!
Thanks a lot! So glad you enjoyed it!
Dogs have no problem running 18 minute 5ks. I tried to tire out my friend's dog once. No chance! Excellent run, well done!
I loved this video and I love this type of content. May I suggest trying to win a parkrun with the cheapest pair of trainers you can buy? That would be a great challenge
That was great. Nice idea and nice narration. Will have to give this a try one day....one day
Great effort. Strange running by blue shirts, i wonder if they missed the start or something?
That dog would win without a leash! 💨 I’m too scared to do this parkrun as I’m sure I’d roll an ankle 😂 Nice work mate
The dog was super quick indeed! There was a definitely a moment where I awkwardly stumbled over a branch! It's a high risk one for sure!
Great run and great video! Nicely done
Thank you, appreciate it!
Dog would have definitely have ran away if he was not on the leash 😅 Great run!!
Bondi to Manly shirt 🔥
Good workout nonetheless, and it's nice to see your videos from such familiar training grounds!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, was still productive for sure! First priority is still just consistent weekly mileage!
Curious to see an extended version of this video where you talk about what other workouts you're doing in the week / what your weekly structure is like
Good idea Sota!! :)
Fantastic effort mate. Maybe you could start with open😅just for a little bit of practice
Good idea! I’m actually doing Open as my next one in 6-weeks. I’m really trying to work on running and building an aerobic base! Hoping Open will be better practice for that!
@johngetstrong please let us know how it went and hope you enjoy it!
Props for believing in miracles and giving another go
No shame in trying! Really wanted to show the coaching dynamic on this too. Good coach let's you find these limits.
Nice work!!🎉
Awesome lets go! Subbed
I don't know who you are but it's a v respectable time. Esp for a first one, and at pro. 4 min runs is solid
Thank you, appreciate it :)
Love it!
big fan of the recent content!
Thank you Sota! You've obviously been a huge inspiration for the channel! :)
Thanks for sharing the insights. I have found that the burpees have been much more efficient if you do less of a push-up, and more of a roll-up when you are getting up from them. It looks almost as if you do a knee-supported pushup. That is the body quite a bit... ;-) I curve my back as much as possible.
Great video, what camera do you use to film this?
Insta 360 go3 mounted to my cap!
Did it this morning but it took me alot longer. Great parkrun
What a way to start the year! This is an impressive time👏
I just visited Sydney and I found it to be like a big playground for runners. The bridges, steps, hills, amazing views and great public transport make it ideal surrounding to get fit. Your video proves how fast Sydney runners are ( I am a regular at Main Beach Parkrun GC).
Glad you had a good time down here! Yes, there’s so much to explore down here. No wonder there’s so many run clubs!!
Wow, beautiful park! Where is this at?
This is Sydney, Australia! It’s called Centennial Park.
Jeez people go out quick at parkrun 👀
They certainly do! I'm tempted to try and stay with lead as long as I can some time!
@@johngetstrong I think you should haha would be good to see how it goes to be honest but no collapsing
@@johngetstrong I think you should haha
@ I'm usually such a coward in these runs. Can't remember the last time I didn't negative split. But I'll give it a go! Maybe next video. 👀
@@johngetstrong fair enough haha well I respect you for doing the park runs and if you can keep up with the ones in lead even for 5 mins that's good :)
Great video. I’m doing my first one next month. Doing the pro as well. Your time was good John. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking.
Wow, that's great! Congratulations!! 🙌🏻
Nice work! I felt that your form looked pretty good throughout. There was a guy ahead of you in the Burpees (same lane) he was blatantly cheating. He was gaining 1 to 2 feet on every one. He even had a good look around to check no judges were watching 😂. I'm looking to do my first in 2025. I think 1 hour 30mins for me in the open class is my target; that is as long as my dodgy knees hold.
It's a great event. Hope you have a great time at the race. Think it's a really good way to build general fitness too.
Ran an 18:33 last week. Nowhere to go but up, so I guess I'll aim for that sub-18 too! Congrats John💪🔥
Ian!!
hey man, what camera/equipment do you use to capture your pace/heart rate in real time?
Reached even higher than your MHR, @187 8:23
New MHR!
Why does my 3/km not feel like this? It feels like I'm doing sprints already. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is about the metric/ measurement I'm using?
Could be pacing. I run pretty conservatively. I start fairly easy and build into the run. I don't think that's optimal for getting the fastest result. Fastest times tend to be even splits, or slightly faster to begin with.
@ Thank you brother. Nice run by the way, keep them going 💪
👋👋👋
Good work love that final sprint
Amazing , but if you are doing a 2:50km / min km you surely could have gone faster time with even splits
I think it’s possible. Hoping to break 17 at some point!
Congrats. The first of many.
total distance that you ran is probaly longer than a mile since you're going around people?
Yes, think so too. Probably an extra 10m or so.
Amazing!! Love seeing what a 5min mile looks like while running.... Fast 🔥
Lesssssgoooo Big J!
Thank you! Thank you!
Hi TH-cam 👋 great effort John!
You legend!
Great video!
Thank you 😃
Never run this pace..so, this is the POV.
That’s right!
