If you came here for advice as a beginner you can 100% get into the hobby for 10$ you can play and win a lot of games with the pre built decks if you are trying to play with friends and stuff it’s only when you play competitively that this video is valid

I love that rage and cut down aren't legal in alchemy anymore (cut rotated, rage banned). Makes format healthier

It’s probably been hated the most it’s ever been too. Not by percentage, but certainly by quantity. I could only hope the game dies before more universes beyond nonsense gets pushed out like a constipated ape. Desperately chucking whatever it can manage into our faces.

Were gonna have a dozen standard legal sets next year, they really need to go back to old rotation for standard.

i had a fog on a combo player playing creatures to draw cards and gain mana. i sat out the entire combo even thou he kept asking do you want to scoop, i said no keep going because his leathal was damage and once its passed back to me boardwipe and swing. his turn was so bloody long the other two people took the scoop and went to grab food and i ended up having to mill the few cards left in his deck because all the life he gained. chulane vs arcades.

One guy at my last job rez'd my gravespawn soverign with the expectation it would be forced to fight on my turn, and wound up giving me basically infinite counterspells. another guy in the same group played a card that gave you extra cards if you have the smallest hand, tokens if you have the fewest creatures and I think health if you have the least health. We went through one by one and he realized he had the most creatures, largest hand and most health. we were laughing so hard we could hardly talk and he was just. "pass my turn" good times

My friend created 100 zombies before trying to BM by using Rakdos Charm to ping each player for 1 damage per creature they control, he thought it read target player.

wasn’t from me but i was playing a mostly precon game with my friends. i was playing desert bloom and had about a thousand scute swarms out(precon btw). my buddy makes the smoothest brain play and plays aetherize before i even went to combat😂 he then proceeded to take 900 damage

I’ve been playing hare apparent in standard ranked Bo1. It’s been ridiculous. Scrap hop to it and replace the banners with banner of kinship. It’s shockingly effective.

Although i no longer play magic, i still keep track of the new sets coming out and look for the cool art

Just so you know elvish archdruid taps to add green for each elf you control including itself so many of the times you thought you didnt have mana to cast stuff you actually could have dumped your whole hand out. As others have said you will want to be running 4 dwynen's elite over some number of 3 drops - turn 1 llanowar > turn 2 archdruid > turn 3 dwynens elite leaves you with at least 6 additional mana to use on turn 3 even after playing out the elite (assuming you made land drops all 3 turns) and if you can play a tyvar out with that it can get even sillier

cool deck! i would cut a 3 drop in favor of dwynen's elite but other than that this looks solid

I wouldn’t play nissa without fabled passage and I think you have too many 3 drops personally, your relying too heavily on lanowar eleves sticking around t1 in a cut down format. Good start though.

Dwynens elite will likely have a spot and vagavoths onslaught will really shine cuz of all the creatures making room for a lot of great instant speed interaction

I have played elves a lot. Favorite tribe. Played it in standard in New phyrexia with metal craft elves..fun…I think my most competitive elf deck in standard was one that ramped into big scary things like walkers or maybe that big 7 drop Dino. Him and Nissa seem like great targets. Or even Nissa and the 6 drop lily cuz she will synergies with you having creatures that will die

You beat midrange hell as a creature deck by playing midrange hell. Maximize card advantage even if it’s less aggressive. There are enough card draw engines to make 8 removal spells plenty.

Domain control with the overlords, atraxa just gives too much value to withstand and you have board control with sunfall.

I played this for the last 2 weeks. It stuggles against the avatar deck with a good pilot. I got bored with the mill and replaced the blue with some white and am having a lot of fun

While this deck is very oppressive in midrange vs midrange match ups, it has two poor match ups: any go-wide aggro deck or proper draw-go control deck. Selesnya tokens and boros convoke can often go under this deck's gameplan and win on turn 4-5, even through single target removal. With Path of Peril out of standard, the only sweepers in black are 5 cmc (iirc). This means losing nearly all games on the draw and losing somewhere around half on the play vs these decks. Counterspells, and specifically Tishana's Tidebinder, also really hurt this deck's gameplan. Control decks will reserve counterspells for Jace, Doomsday Excruciator, and card engines like Annex. Spot removal answers Archfiend, Mastermind, and creature lands. Then, as extra sideboard tech in the matchup, Tidebinder shuts down Mastermind, Excruciator, and Jace when the control player is shields-down on counters. Hope this explains how this deck isn't unbeatable.

Selesnya rabbits has done well against the best of one version since the deck isn't vulnerable to single point interaction. That said, in best of three you're cooked

So a unironic tech vs that phyrexian with counters could be that one black card that removes three counters from a permanent. Also run more enchantment removal is a good one as well but i know that "dies to removal" isnt what you really want to hear lol

This deck -like many- seems soft to Sheoldred.

I have been waiting for new angels but then they made a new one and just slapped on platinum angels effect on it. I’m very disappointed. 😞😭

Ygra can have so much going on depending on what you use it with, in a red deck? Use vandalblast as an artifact and creature board wipe only for your opponents, Blue? Do artifact tribal as your creatures are now artifacts

Ygra is an awesome commander. Buy the squirrel precon and some extra food support and you’ve got a pretty good deck going. The only problem is that it infinite combos easy, so some people won’t like playing against it, and is basically kill on sight when it lands on the board.

It’s nice if you just wanna buy singles

I wouldn't recommend playing blue/white for rooms. Would rather suggest blue and either red, green or both. Better removal, better ramp or both with the same blue core for counterspelling and drawing

I've been trying to build the same win con but I've never won with it I made a all color deck and ive gotten so close I need to make it to my up keep and I would have won
