Taking on UNDERTAKER and RUFF & TUFF in the Bronco 2 at Rocks & Valleys Off Road Park
Clearly you guys have been doing this a while. How long did it take you to get this confident and brave on the trail? I'm building up confidence, but I'm still a bit of a pansy on some stuff. 😂
We've only been rock crawling for about 3 years. Confidence definitely come with seat time. Every outing we goto i get more confident as I learn more about the boundaries of our rig. I still get gut feeling about putting tires on something jt just doesn't feel right and back dien even though spotters say I looked fine. I have full width axles for the next upgrade being wider will help stability. Also need lower the ride height but that means more cutting and modifications im not ready to do.
I think I’ve watched all of yours and Brian’s videos. Just an idea for a video you two could do,,,, and it would be very helpful for me at the point I’m at with my Bronco. I think the two of you have more vehicle building smarts than the combined internet community. Both of you have different suspension set ups. What are the pros and cons to both? Full width axles or cut to standard B2 width? You both take your builds to off road parks, how would you build different for overlanding?,,, 50/50 off road/ highway driving. Thanks!!
Both Brian and I are still currently running gen1 width hp d44. Our buddy John just transitioned to full width. Which is better, really depends on what it will be used for. Our builds are primarily for rock crawling. I have full width welded "C" that if all goes right will be getting put in not this winter but next winter also with 3 linking the front. Johns B2 already has the full width, will be doing 3 link be first. Our other buddy Dan was instrumental in getting my rig 4 linked with coilovers and when do thecfrony on mine. Basically very similar to his gen1 explorer 1 ton build. I also have a full width 9 in once the front is complete. I may have to consider full hydro when doing g my front as I want to move the axle forward at least 2-3 inches. I'm currently at 104 wb. I'll talk to the guys about maybe doing another q&a video related to suspension
Full width will offer greater side to side stability but tires will stick put further and could cause legal issues depending on your laws. Full width also will allow better y pipe clearence as I had to limit down travel on the drivers side as the yoke on the axle hit my ypipe. Full width will also low more clearence if you decide to go to a 4 speed auto like a 4r70w.
You definitely don't need to go to the extreme we did for overlanding. James Duff stage 3 5.5 inch lift is what we had prior to going straight axle and would be a great way to go and still be able do some rock crawling.
@@bradleygt302none7. Thanks for the great reply. I planned the James Duff and I have a d44 I believe it came from a 78 Bronco with cast wedges. I have a 8.8 in it along with almost everything else from a 2002 explorer. I’ve posted a few non edited videos on rumble on my progress. Again thank you 👍🏻
@@AmericanPrideHB message anyone of us anytime
is your bronco 302 swapped?
Yes sir. Stroked to 347 to be exact! Its a mild build but makes lots of torque. No dyno sheet but picked a low rom cam with moderate lift and alum heads. Explorer efi intake controlled by microsquirt.
I hate how it always looks like if we just gave it one more harder bump it would have went!
@@randumadventures I know right?! But it was the 1st day and we certainly didn't want to break something when there was so much more to do!
Next time, we definitely gonna hit that hard spot again.
@@BuildItWheelItExploreIt yes! Now that I've seen it on video we just need a more angled approach going in & then turn back straight to climb & that drivers rear tire should stay on the rock to make the climb!
Agreed!
Can't wait for parts 3 and 4
What’s specs on your lift man?
@@issacissac1327 hard to say. In that video we're on 37s. 1 inch body lift and suspension is on coilovers and probably had approx 6-7 inches of suspension lift.
Everything was custom made for the coilovers front hoops and rear towers. Rear was stretched 10 inches and 4 linked.
Good times!
Lol the spider situation 😂
@@BuildItWheelItExploreIt Hey if you can't laugh at yourself 🤣 besides they came at me from all angles!
Was an awesome weekend!
I think I could crawl that😂

Fuckin awesome
Thank you for capturing all of this!
@@randumadventures My pleasure!
Was perfect weather and a blast!
@@BuildItWheelItExploreIt You couldn't have asked for a better day!
Great show can't wait til the 2nd annual one.

Great video. shit music

It was such an awesome day!!! Ready for our trip to BadLands ORV Park in a few weeks!
We can't wait for the Badlands trip! Excited to wheel there for the 1st time and see what challenges they have to offer.
What an awesome day that was!
It was fun time for sure!
Nicely done.!
Pull the opinion gear out and see if it is shimmed and adjust accordingly
Everything was replaced. The Detroit locker was acting funny
I can only see by the video and it looks like opinion float and if its less than 8 thou its normal ware on a Detroit have you marker tested in forward and rev to see where it is should be in the center in forward and slightly off center in reverse motion but hold one wheel when you spin it
Well that's more than .007"
Lol just a little
You might stretch it .015" but it's way past that.
Thats a good idea to check out before buying 👍👍👍👍
yeah i always check the diff before buying a car from anywhere
Iv cut the crap off them gears
That's not normal? Mines more like 1/2in. Got a new rear end just haven't put it in yet. Too much life getting in the way.
No that's not normal. Basklash is typically like 0.008-0.012 of an inch
Definitely not normal
@ridingshotgunadventures thanks! That's good to know. Hopefully I'll be doing the swap in a few weeks. Going from a 3.55 to a 4.11 I know gas mileage will be worse but I only drive 3-5 miles daily. Going in a 2000 F150 with the 5.4L 2V
@@jimijamesnoob685 you'll be happier with the 4.10 gearing especially if you've already put larger then stock tires.
What kind of dana 44 did you use?
It's narrowed 78/79 full size bronco hp d44. If I were to do it again it get a non narrowed one. We have a full width version from a easier f series that has the welded wedges as there are thoughts of either 3 or 4 linking the Front some day.
Fresh snow sunny what more could we ask for
Added additional sealer, I'll retest this weekend
Wow that place looks different
It's definitely ever changing!
Was a fun day
That's Wynonna's big brown beaver. 😮
😮
Did a similar thing to a bottle of gear oil and it exploded all over me! I smelled legit for a week.
Be my luck I’d get to much water vapor in my Diff
I have a bad feeling, someday whoever's within ear shot are gonna hear..... BOOM! followed by SHIT!!! as smelly ass gear lube is propelled into parts of your garage that have never seen the light of day. Still not a horrible idea..... I would do it in a pinch.
20 psi was alittle much should have started at 15max but no mess and sure beats pumping it with a hand pump.
That's exactly what I said while filming him lol!
@@ridingshotgunadventures 😁
Start with a pesticide spray bottle.
It’s a damn beaver.
Yes he does indeed build dams
You’re kidding right?
About there being a legit beaver on the trail? Nope and he was not happy to see all of us there.
