I love how real you guys are! Your videos are wonderful. Will be following the QLD outback portion of your trail next year. I appreciate that you take the time to do this. Safe travels!
Hi Phil. Thanks so much for the message - we really appreciate it. So exciting for you to be doing outback QLD next year, a great part of the country!! 🤩
Howdy. Im loving the Videos they arw absolutely beautiful. Great job n lots n lots of driving. Did you do the Eyre peninsular. Especially Port Lincoln, Whalers way, Coffins Bay. Tumby bay. ❤❤
Thanks Tricia!! Oh yes, we loved the Eyre Peninsula 😍 there’s a video or two on our account of that area. Hannah x
Thanks for sharing, we planning our trip for next year
Very exciting! Happy planning!! ☺️ Hannah and Chris
Might help to show where these places are on a map.
Very good point! Thanks Antony
Love your information - can I just ask - what ramp did you get and what muzzle?? there are just so many on amazon
Hi Petrina. We got the muzzle from smuzzleme.com and the ramp was from Amazon, but I think you can probably find better - it has a plastic surface which is a bit slippy, so I think either a rubber coated on or steps are better.
Great video. Who did you get to look after Archie while touring Albany if you remember?
Hi Kerry, I can’t remember the name of the person, but we used the Mad Paws app, and it was someone on there with good reviews. Hope that helps!
Beautiful video thank you !
Many thanks!
Don't bother going to kepel if you have mobility problems .. they dump you in the middle of no where and you have to walk a couple of klm to get to civilization, no good if your elderly or handi capped in any way .
Yes - very good point!!
Are you guys still on the road in 2024?
Sadly not - but we have some short VIC trips planned 👍🏻
Great review. I've wanted one of these for years now.
Thanks Fliping - hopefully you can get one soon then! 👍🏻
Great run through guys! Could you please further explain the king bed extension. How do you assemble, which way do you lay? Does one or both people lay across a crack?
Hey, very helpful video! Where about sis this campsite you are at? Looks like a great spot to take the kids
Yes it would be a perfect spot to take kids. It’s just outside Bendigo at a place called Maldon. We did do a separate travel video of this place with more details ☺️
Wow - a massive undertaking during which you showed courage and imagination.
Thanks 🤩
Great work - well done.
Thanks!! 🤩
You developed your skills week by week and soon became very professional. I'm sure you have provided enjoyment to many, many people ! I've certainly loved watching you.
So nice of you
All good things come to an end but it's all been fun, with lots of education thrown in. Well done on your achievement and thanks for showing us an insight over the turn of the year !
Yes it’s been a fantastic experience!!
Any issues getting water in the trailer when you have it closed or open? My only hesitation to get one are the videos of people complaint about water intrusion and to be honest that might be my only flaw because I don’t want to deal with tent mold smell and delamination.
Yes, I’ve seen those videos too. We haven’t had any water issues at all, either open or closed, so I’m wondering if they had older models and the issue has been fixed now? We are always careful in set up and put away and make sure that there are no obvious gaps in any of the seals. We have been out in the rain a few times now with no issues. We do park the Opus in the garage at home to minimise everyday wear and tear. Hope that helps! Hannah and Chris ☺️
Great video, thank you for sharing! I love that color green, where did you purchase it??? I live in the US and I have not seen that color available at any of our dealers
Hey there! We bought ours in Melbourne Australia as it’s a colour option here. Maybe ask Opus US if you can get it over there? I love the colour too - really appropriate colour for camping out in nature!!
me: Neds campground Exmouth, low cost, sea over that sand dune next to you. coral and fauna and flora. Imagine peering into the star lit night sky, while three camping slots down, someone with a didge and someone with a Spanish guitar are duelling. And you get to listen in...in a town, where emu walk down the street. and the snorkeling is awesome. El Questro is 2nd because its a cool little camping area well made and you've got three cool rock water things close by, to really do the hike outback tiny bit of gibb road thing, you can tick gibb off by going to El Q but you're gonna wanna come back and do it again. 3rd has to be Lake Argyle coz infinity pool and tours are great, great facililities. the esperance loop into the nat park would be my no power choice where you 4wd over the big costal rock to get into the park... so many cool little spots. WA has some great camping spots esp nat park, cheap, free park type spots. You adorable two being in a van, means, you cant always get into all areas, defines the type of trip you can have also.
That sounds like a fantastic list! We will definitely be doing WA at some point again - in something much smaller too most likely, so we can try out some new places that weren’t accessible to us last time. Thanks for this comment! Will be saving this one down!! Take care, Hannah and Chris 😊
Can the floor of the annex be zipped closed to keep critters out?
The floors can Velcro to the sides which helps to keep out critters! 👌
Great video. New to the channel and as an adventure channel ourselves, it’s nice to see the Australian perspective. Best of luck to your channel and take a look at ours if US places interest you. Take care!
Thanks so much for watching!!! We’ll definitely take a look at your channel, we’ve actually done a lot of travelling around the US and loved it! I (Chris) actually have done a lap of the US, starting and ending in LA!! 👌
@@StaycationOz awesome. We live near LA
Well done but you need to avoid rainy day pack ups if you can
Absolutely! We haven’t been out in the rain yet, so cross fingers that will continue!
Wow. That looks so fiddly. I bet you miss the ease of a caravan! Imagine if it was raining, you’ve got to go through all that rigmarole to dry it out.
It is a very different experience and felt very fiddly at the start, but a bit like when we first started hitching the caravan, after a while it feels easier and you go on auto-pilot and can chat about other things while doing it. We have tried to avoid taking it out in the rain, purely because we don’t have a drive at home when we can open it up to dry it out - we would have to open it on the road in front of the house. I’m sure anyone transitioning from a tent of another camper trailer would find this a huge improvement, we were just spoilt at the start when we had the Crusader. We are loving how much closer we feel to our surroundings and nature in the Opus though and love the space it gives us inside. ☺️
Hey Chris & Hannah, that was a very informative video! We're not changing our Crusader any time soon, but for anyone with an Opus, it would be great. Enjoy the working week ahead and catch you in the next video. Take care, Lyn & Corrie ❤
Thanks Lyn and Corrie. Yes we love watching how other people do their camping routines on TH-cam and educate ourselves what works and doesn’t work too. Always good to be knowledgeable for any future decisions ☺️
That’s gold….someone filling your tank. I remember back when I was 20 ( yeah ages ago) when that was a “thing”. Now we have to get out the car🙄 Maldon looked a great place. I will put it on my list✔️
Hey Ladysusanjane! Yes definitely worth a visit ☺️
Fabulous camp spot
Yea it’s a great spot to chill out for a few days!! Thanks for watching 👌
Hey guys, another awesome episode. It's great to see you back out and about exploring. That campsite was beautiful. We're wondering if you can get a van in there? Maldon looked interesting, and thanks for showing us around - another one to add to our list of places to visit. Loved the cooking segment, Chris🍳 and the photography wizardry was great! Looking forward to your next trip. Enjoy the week ahead and stay safe. Lyn & Corrie ❤
Hi Lyn and Corrie! Yes, we’ve actually been there twice now, we liked it so much the first time (and not too far away from home just to go for two nights!) Yes you can absolutely get a van in there. You’d just need to take it steady in on the gravel track, and make sure you’ve got levelling ramps as it is a bit wonky. I highly recommend a visit to Maldon too - such a lovely little town with lots of cute shops, great eateries and loads of character! Happy travels, Hannah and Chris x
We'll be there for Christmas
Hi Matilda. What a perfect spot to spend Christmas!! 🎅 🎄 Well done on a great decision and have a fabulous time!! 🤩 Hannah and Chris xx
How long does it take to have the camper fully set up the way you are showing it from the time you arrive at your camping spot? How long does it take for you to packup ready to drive away? I camp with tents and a coleman event14 at the moment. Am looking for a easier solution, especially for bad weather as I mainly camp in the cooler months. Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Do you have to crank up and down this camper trailer? Can I find in Canada?
Nope not at all, it inflates itself at a touch of a button, see our EP64 which is how we setup, no crank at all!! I believe they are available in Canada… definitely available in the US!
Nice overview, glad you're enjoying the new rig. 🙂 I've got a couple of questions, 1. How long does setup with the annex take? And do you have to help it along? I think you had said it folds up inside the trailer, which was my other question, so thanks for clearing that up. 2. A patriot X1 is my other option, did you look at that one before you decided, and if so, what nudged you to this one?
Hey thanks for watching! The annex isn’t difficult to set up at all. It attaches to the main tent with a big zip and Velcro, so the first time you use it, you just zip it on and feed the air hose through a little hole and screw it on. As the air goes in, we just straighten it out a bit, but it would probably pop into shape without our help. Yes we did look at the Patriot campers and they looked great quality, super smart and very off road capable, but this suited our needs more, for a few reasons. Firstly we wanted something that would feel spacious inside, so we could comfortably spend time inside on a grey day, or cold evening. We also took Archie into consideration and we needed something that was accessible for him too. We just loved how much it opens up and feels like a really good space (plus the enjoyment every time we inflate it haha!) Price was also a factor, with the Opus significantly cheaper! Hope that helps, Hannah and Chris
Thanks! We've been doing crazy amounts of research on campers, so this is helpful to figuring out what we need for whqt we want to do.
Hi, and thank you! My wife and I looked at them a few days ago at the Melbourne showroom... but of course we always think of questions afterwards! Hoping you can help. As older aussies with dickie shoulders, how heavy is the spare wheel to get down and up and do you think a 4' long, rubber tipped "stick" (an arm extension :) ) would help with raising the roof rack/bedding areas? And the loo, is where it is storage only or can it be used in place do you think? I wonder why they don't use a low pressure air storage tank between the water tanks, that way it could be charged while driving and wouldn't take as much battery power to erect/pump up when arrived on site. Looking forward to your input.
Hi Scott. Both the back wheel and top rack are on gas struts, so really not too heavy at all. I’m sure you would be fine. With regards to the portaloo, you can’t use it in the little cupboard as you need to pull the front knob out to open the hole to the tank. If you didn’t want an ensuite tent, and chose the annex with the trailer, another option would be to section off one end of the annex and use that as a loo?
You miss the hotsprings guys.
Thanks Wallaby2004 - I think it proves the sheer amount of things to do around Australia. It goes on the “next lap” list 😝
That is a serious bit of kit ! You are going to have some amazing adventures in it I am sure, its definitely a go anywhere vehicle. I can't believe your camping spot, truly off grid, and no one else in sight! And that weather! Very jealous! Loved Archie mooching about ❤
Yes, it really makes us look like experienced campers 😂 Archie has such a great time. He was hanging out with the farm dog and also watching the sheep!
Hey guys, thanks for sharing the setup - your camper looks great!. That was such an awesome spot that you camped. We can't imagine you getting the Crusader in there! You'll be able to take the Opus so many places that you couldn't take the caravan. Look forward to your next adventure. Stay safe. See you next time. Corrie & Lyn ❤
Thanks Corrie and Lyn. Yes definitely a very different experience- we feel very adventurous in the Opus haha 😂
Thank you great info we are in our 60s and I feel confident that this will work for us xx
So glad to hear this was useful for you! It’s a breeze to setup.. pack down can be a little tricky at first, but it gets easier!!
Thanks for sharing! Archie seemed to enjoy helping 😂 the camp site looked lovely and relaxing. Hope you enjoyed yr weekend!
Haha Archie was loving it… just wanted to get involved and in front of the camera hahaha! Hope you are well!!!
No thanks.
Thanks for watching anyway!
love it! that's a beast of an outside kitchen. I reckon archie just needs a run up for those steps!!
It has everything you need that kitchen!! Archie does struggle a bit up those stairs, so we are testing a few options to help him get in and out easier!
Can’t wait until you guys hit the road…..
At the moment we are doing lots of little trips with a few longer ones here and there… would love to get out permanently again!!
I’m thinking of trading my 32 foot trailer for the opus if I could talk my wife into it
😂 good luck!
I have Rv trailer I think to big honestly looks really cool I would worry about the change in temperature the
Dose it get cold or too hot
It is pretty good temperature wise. Obviously it is more impacted than a hard-sided camper, but isn’t too bad. We installed the diesel heater as it does get a bit chilly on a cold winter’s night, but you only need it on for an hour max and it’s fine. We didn’t go with the air con but just have a portable ceiling fan and a portable evaporative cooler to take the edge off.
Great review! We love our OP4. I'm the guy who 3D prints the pantry handle. I'm glad you like it!
Hi Shaun the pantry handle guy!! 😂 Yes - you’re doing a great job with the added extras. Was it you we got the sink drain adapter from too?
@@StaycationOz Yep the sink drain adapter was from me.
Love your work!!! 👌
Great set up. I think you have more space now than in your caravan.
I think so too!
Congratulations on your new camper! Just wonder if you fitted the diesel heater by your own or by OPUS? It looks neat and tidy, how much does it cost?
We added it on to the initial purchase from Opus. We liked the way the tank was attached on the front (and it was easier to get it fitted by Opus!) and also means the digital panel was neatly fitted near the entrance too
@@StaycationOzI like that very much too and planning to follow, how much was it charged for?
It was around $1000 for the heater and installation!! 👌
Hey guys, thanks for sharing the walkthrough of the Opus! Wow, what a fantastic camper with heaps of space and capabilities. Getting to those tight off road tracks/camps won’t be a problem. It's the perfect companion for those adventurous journeys, and I can't wait to see all the amazing places you'll explore with it. Is Cape York a maybe for next season? It’d be perfect for that terrain 🚙🏞️
Yes we can’t wait to test it on different terrains 👍🏻 Would love to do Cape York at some point, but need to save up a bit of annual leave first! We do have a road trip to Adelaide planned over New Year, plus some shorter trips in the meantime
Hey guys, thanks so much for showing us the new camper. It looks great, no wonder you're so happy with it 😊 Look forward to your next adventure! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
The space is massive! So has there been arguments over who has the king bed? 😂😂😂 Enjoy yr new toy 😊
Hahaha - I’ve let Chris have the King Bed as he has longer legs! Plus I’m nearer the door for any overnight trips to the loo!! 😂
Good to see you are getting the hang of setup and pack-down. The inside space is amazing. Enjoy your travels
Thanks Andrew. Yes, we’re really happy with it!
