I don’t know what a pro charger is. I assume a super charger. I would be Leary of investing too much money in these engines. I’ve replaced 3 so far.
Id be interested in your thoughts on a Procharger 😮.
Hey William, they are stock size. I think 265 70 17
What size tires are you running in this video?
I've been looking into these as i've loved the styling, and interiors of the Ram 1500. Especially the ZF8. Problem is the hemi and ecodiesel are garbage and can suffer catastophic failure just from regular use. The pentastar is the only reliable option. And they made 10,000,000 over the years. So it's been perfected over time.
I have a 2015 with the v6 and I thought power was going to be and issue but I'm pleasantly surprised at how well this v6 steps up.
Oh and I have almost 190,000 miles on it....
Yes l2l. I am still impressed with the acceleration of my v6 rebel
not as good as the ford 3.7 duratec and gmc LS 4.3
Hey Kraig, can you do a walk around of your Ram? It’s a beautiful truck and would love to see more of it.
I have a 21 Laramie Hemi getting 17 city and a 20 Grand Cherokee Penstastar getting 19 city. Not much savings there, but the big difference is on the interstate going 70 to 75 mph, the Ram will get 20 at best but the Grand Cherokee will get 25. Love driving both for different occasions nonetheless.
210k on my 2014 3.6 so far no major issues.
Sorry for delay Harry. If you are talking about buying one with the 3.6 liter, I would pass. I have had three of these with the v6. None have made it past 190,000. Run Harry, Run! I wish they would hold up better but they don't.
My tire size is 275/70/18, Goodyear Duratrac
Is your Rebel a 4x4 and what size Goodyear tires you have there?
We need a new update on the rebel
Ive been considering picking one up with 171k (good deal on it). Going to look and listen to engine well. Any suggestions on things to look for? I know to check for leaks and or engine ticks. This is my second 2015 ram other was hemi with 8 speed.
I have a 14 with the 3.6 with a 3:55 rear, it does all i need it to, great truck.
@cjsteele9594 yeah one I looked at had engine tick so I passed on it.
Actually around town it’s torque that gets you going horsepower is for top end ( freeway driving) that’s why the say torque wins races ( 1/4 mile races) torque also is for pulling hills with heavy loads and that’s why all semi trucks run diesel’s this statement of his in the first 2 minutes of the video has me wondering what he really knows about trucks
I have a 2021 5th gen Ram, the ac works fabulous and heat is very good as well. The heated seats and heated steering wheel are a bonus, they heat it up fairly quick! You might have some issues with yours.
Thanks for comment Tiago. I love my heated steering wheel.
I had a ford f150 Coyote 5.0 and i miss it. Purchased a 4x4 pentastar bighorn, just did my first oil change which is cool takes less oil. So for so good but i do miss my coyote 😢
This is a Rear wheel drive Semi 4x4 ?
I have this motor in my dodge caravan. What a pile of crap motor. It's not gonna pull anything
My ram with the 3.6, with the 3:55 rear tows 600lbs no prblem. And the Pentastar has less than a 1% failure rate.
6000 Lbs
Yeah sure! I have a 2015 Charger awd with the 3.6L Same engine, I put a tow hitch on and have pulled 2 cars now over 200 miles each time, Pulled great, Can tell you are pulling something but still can easy go speed limit, Gas goes way down, But you liars about the engine Troll Ford/Toyota owners Can shove it. FYI Has over 200,000 miles and still going great.
Have you take that truck off road? If so how well does the v6 perform in that environment?
I am a forester and the truck is off road weekly. It does fine off-road but you will want to use the gear control and keep it in first gear on soft ground. Once it shifts to second, you don’t have the torque. Rpm’s are your friend in this case.
i have a pentastar with 4x4 and a 355 rear end. no problems on the highway, towing or using 4x4. mine weighs 5000 lbs.
Glad you have the 3:55 rear end. That helps
Yes, I have the 3:55 rear, its great.
V8 definitely does better towing. If I was running a business or pulling an RV I would definitely get the V8 Without question.
Great videos. How is the ac? It seems like there are a lot complaints about ram ac. Thanks.
gtrance, the air works fine but its nothing compared to our ford edge in terms of velocity and coldness. Thanks for the reply
Hey Jaypatrus, I have changed the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles since I got the truck with 90,000 miles. The truck now has 260,000 miles but the engine was replaced at 195k and my son just got hit by someone and it totaled it. I have had 3 of these trucks and the transmission is by far the best component on the truck.
Did you ever change your transmission fluid ?
I did. Ram says lifetime fluid. BS, ZF who makes the tranny says fluid and filter every 60k. CHANGE IT.
I have changed mine twice in 200k miles, Should be doing it more really, Not all that hard just a bit of a pain with no dip stick.
Thanks for that. What kind of camper shell is that please?
Marcusa, I don't remember the brand. My son in Wyoming has it on his truck so I can''t check.
What did you find out about that low rpm hesitation?
Thanks for the complement Chast. Hope you get lots of good years out of it. I just rolled over 100,000 on my 19 Rebel
I bought a 3.6L V6 Ram 1500 2023 today, based in large part due to your review. thank you
No Hemi tick either.
It will if you don't change your oil, Just like the Hemi.
@@fraudsarentfriends4717my understanding is that the hemi has issues just by idling. Hard pass.
How’s your truck doing now in 2023? I’m Really thinking about getting a V6 Rebel. Thanks for your posts on this truck.
I have the 5.7 and would never consider this little sewing machine motor.
Sucks for you. Enjoy 14 mpg, Hemi tick, and more maintainance. Did you ever drive one? No,
Fast forward 3yrs... the 3.6 outsold the 5.7 last year in north america on Ram 1500s. I just bought a 23 Big Horn w/ the pentastar. Happy so far.
Thanks for the comment Douglas. It should serve you well. I’m averaging about 18 mpg with my rebel
Love my 14 ram with the 3.6, especially the fuel economy.
How does yours with the bigger cab weigh less than mine with the small cab? 2014 tradesman 3.6
Also better mpg
I also prefer a V6 over a V8. My car is a V6 and I've grown to really like a V6, it's a 2007 Cadillac CTS. and while a Sedan isn't on the same level as a truck, the difference between a V6 and a V8 still compare just on a bigger scale. A V6's got more than enough power for anything you'd need in your daily life, and it's way more efficient than a V8, specially now with gas prices so high
Yes Sir!
I have a 2018 Ram 1500 V6 4×4 FLEX FUEL. Runs great no problems. Great truck.
How’s the Pentastar Rebel treating you?
Hamms, not too good. Blew a head gasket at 79,000 miles. Elected to put a brand new engine in. So far so good.
@@foresterram869 Really? Wow. How many miles do you have now? Wonder what caused that. You had that issue on your last rig as well didn’t you?
Only have about 83,000 on it now. I have owned three pentastars and have replace all of the engines. Very disappointed. Will be my last.
No way really? All 3 had issues? Do you still have the rebel?
So all I'm hearing is Buy a V8. If you're going off-road and hauling a trailer
It will tow, just have to rev it a lot more.
What year is this truck?
This engine and Texas speed limits do not mix, your usually bullied all over the road with this engine setup.
BS. More than enough power.
I have a 2016 big horn with the v6, with tow/haul mode, that thing is pretty fast and fun to drive
Thanks Eduardo for the comment. It wasn’t that long ago that v-8s didn’t have this kind of power.
Love mine. Its only 1 second slower than the Hemi in the quarter mile.
Thanks for comment itisfinsihed4u. We still have the truck. Just turned 250,000 but had to replace the engine shortly after this video.
I had a 2019 with the 3.55 gears and it was great, should have kept it
Have the same 3:55 rear, i love it.
That's cute I have a 7.5l 😎
Good info. Thanks
In all honesty that’s what most V8s did from 2000-2010.
You are correct. Truck even feels quick from seat of the pants. Thanks for comment.
Accord 2.0t win
Wear gloves, hold the plug in while loosening it. allow the oil to flow while holding the plug barely in. This cuts the flow at the beginning so you don't have a mess. Then after a short time remove it and no mess.
