This used to be my main channel, but now I use it to upload random stuff that I don't want to put on my new main channel (below). My main channel has gaming, computer, and gadget vids.
Decatur, AL - Old River Drawbridge - January 21, 1990
Here's a quick drive over the old draw-bridge that used to be in Decatur, AL. It took west-bound traffic into the city of Decatur. Video continues on but I had to stop recording because the radio was switched on which will cause copyright issues on TH-cam.

Sunday, January 21, 1990.
See, I was born Friday, September 10, 1993. This was recorded on Sunday, February 11, 1990.
I worked at that Walmart from 1990-1992, then they moved across the highway to where Publix is now. I used to walk all the way to the mall with a friend or my brother way back in the 1980's.
I miss these days. I was a teenager when this video was made. I'm now 49 and sometimes think about these years. I still live here in Decatur right across from Sonic on 6th Ave.
i had no idea there was a walmart there, that’s awesome
Decatur is just southwest from Huntsville, where an F4 tornado hit on November 15th 1989, just 3 months before this video was filmed.
seeing this video makes me think about at this very time I was living in Decatur al as a kid and my grand parents where still alive and my child hood was the best it ever was. now in my 40's I miss my childhood.
Other than some of the buildings having different business occupants.....6th Avenue hasn't changed much lol
I went across that bridge at least a million times.
This was taken on my 18th birthday. I’m from Trinity and I very well remember when Decatur looked like this. I don’t live there anymore but I do pass through occasionally to visit family. Wow does it look different now!
I just turned 18 at that time

Love this!
Just for laughs the Shell Station at 2:55 for years the S light in the Shell sign was ALWAYS burned out so in high school we called it the Hell Station
Why does it seem like there was more variety for gaming in 99-03 era of gaming? more emphasis on original design too for this era
So many memories.
Silent
I don't miss crossing it I just miss seeing it
Caught a glimpse of Old La Casa!
February 11 is my birthday🙂
Mine too! I turned 18 the day this was taken.
Wow no words! I was borin in 1999 and moved to Alabama in late 02 early 03 one of my early memories from there was going to florence, muscle shoals, hunsville, and Decatur on the weekends and I remember always seeing the Kmart on south Decatur surrounded by a bunch of new stores and a children’s park I didn’t know that Kmart had existed since the early 90’s and I recognized that sign that said Tuscumbia I use to bust there too by muscle shoals. I moved from Alabama to California in 2010 I haven’t visited since
Won’t play
Feb 11,1990.....I was in ninth grade when this was filmed.....good lord. Man the Beltline has changed so much. Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant that was next to the Taco Bell? I think it was some type of Chinese place?
Correct. It was called Formosa. I remember it well as I used to go there with family as a kid. It was not the typical Chinese restaurant you find in Decatur today.
@@corey4690 Thank you! I remember the two dragon statues or something they had at the stairs.
I remember it as Formosa Garden. Could have been just Formosa though. It’s only been 32 years! I’ve slept since then.
It looked so different.
Wilson morgan 😂

Brings back memories
Wow, Decatur has changed a lot now living in 2019, but the roads and some of the businesses are still around, good to see what Decatur looked like back then.

This game was my life at one point. Splitscreen too.
I was 8. I remember a lot of this. And had forgotten some of it

If you were a kid and you heard that.. oh man.
I just got my Dreamcast working again today! I might pick this game up someday soon.
2018, Kmart gone, Davenport Motors gone, or at least moved towards Hartselle on 31, Milk plant gone, ALL of that around the water has changed, tons of new things built around it along with a walking track. Honda Motorcycles is gone, along with a bunch more places along the Beltline....
Yeah also in this vid the Morgan Lake was empty
Your video won't play
Wow, not much has changed in the main part of Decatur. All that darn road construction though. lol
There at about the end of the video you passed by a place that was called Decatur Bait & Tackle. Do you happen to have anymore footage from or around that area?
Love watching old "drive around" footage like this. Gives you an idea how every day life was back then.
