Placement Exercise for American English
มุมมอง 4.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We will examine the relaxed Short U and do tongue circles between Short O, Long E and ER, to become more reliant on the tongue and less reliant on other parts of the mouth, including the lips, palate, nasal cavity and jaw. Becoming less reliant on these parts will help shift your placement to the middle of the mouth for a truly American sound. For the full lesson on vowels see my courses on Ude...

This series is so helpful 😊, as a non native, I think the resonance for American English is at the back half of the mouth, 👄 . So all Americans to me sound to me so warm and rich vs non native voice when they speak English, their voice is so thin and weak. And I think resonance is the core part of the American accent But watching you saying things in other languages with a “bad” American accent really shows me how American English works.
Great video! ❤
Thank you
Why do you pronounce kin instead of pronouncing through schwa?
You can say either kin or kun. I personally prefer kin.
Do you drop the /t/ ed ending in tapped cause it is between two consansts (p and h) ? Or you just prononce it like an released T to link it smoothly to him or im just in case the h is dropped.
you can either say tappt him (or) tap dim, where the t becomes a fast d linking to the i in im- h dropped.
You super marvelous, luscious sensation ; observational goddess... So thorough.. This is gold.. Mmmwwwaaahhh!!..
At 3:39 of your video, you pronounced non-native": /nɒn ˈneɪtɪv/ as "none native": /nʌn ˈneɪtɪv/ , is it right ?
I haven't listened, and I may have been lazy, but it should be a full short O.
Very nice presentation 😊 excellent ❤ job !!! Except the word order on 🍯 Honey " and money 💰! But the rest is very good 💯!!!
haha! I agree! Thanks so much!
A strong hug for you from Santos-Sp Brasil. VIVA Los Gatos,CA.

I identify, Deee-licious, and Del-icately luscious, and razor-sharp Discerning ; making you, just incredible.. Mmmwwaahh!!.. Saying "Direct" and "Dyrect," kinda trips me up sometimes, by the way..
Great video!
Hi, thank you for the great video. I have a question here: if that is in the middle of the sentence, such as I think that it is good. Should I reduce that to schwa? thanks.
Yes, you can reduce "that" to "thut" in your example.
@@SmoothEnglish1 Thanks
