This flashcard set comes with videos on each consonant and vowel. Example words were chosen to cover the concepts spoken about in every consonant-vowel combination. This is a tool to use in training students to think the true meaning of Anishinaabemowin instead of thinking in feeble English translation/definitions. Use this with The Sound Based Method of Understanding Anishinaabemowin. Availabl...

One Tin Soldier is the tune. The English "describes" what is sung in Anishinaabemowin. Let me know if this is a better idea than "translating". TLC = translates like crap, remember... Notice that the word order is different from English. In Anishinaabemowin this is proper grammar. Do not translate word for word from English sentences, think about what the most important information is. The lang...

Nixon Turns Loose
มุมมอง 32710 ปีที่แล้ว
I thought I had lost this recording Nixon and I did in 2010. I think the Rabbit Island Boyz are playing, but I am not sure. I did the electric guitar and sing the background vocals and Nixon played the guitar, the bass and sang, of course. I do not own the rights to this song, this is just for fun and in memory of a brother who loved to sing this song and many others.

Miigwech for being a virtual auntie for immersion students to listen to and learn from. Aaniin, Michigan indoonjiba.
I love it ! I understand well but it's too fast for me to try and sing ! LOL
I always thought it sounded a little bit like Japanese lol
Miigwiich ❤
This dialogue is invaluable for language revitalization. The original inhabitants of my area before colonization were Bodewadmi, whose language shares many features with Nishnaabemwin. From what I understand, the two share many loan words and the vowel syncope is extremely similar. Thank you for this upload.
thank you for the video. The way they speak, the intonations and sound combinations resemble the way our Tatar elders speak! But that is thousands of miles away on another continent
11 years ago?! I've watched this video half a dozen times as an exercise in learning Ojibwemowin and have barely understood it, except for a few words. Part of that is due to your non-Minnesota and non-Wisconsin dialect. I'm not being critical at all. But I recently learned how to slow down the audio-video speed and now I'm understanding more. Mii-gwetch.
Miigwech!
Aanii Helen! i thought you were talking about me for a sec! haha. miss you! i'll be in touch soon!!
Such a great song to be the 31st/last video. I notice most of these are from a decade back. Are you still around? Manitoulin? I've been to all 50 states and only flew over Canada. Maybe this Aki Wenzi should road trip up thataway. I'm 70 now and have been studying the language for 4 years now and really need to be around some speakers. Thanks so much for this site. For now this thanks is the only Asemaa I can offer.
This music, these songs...are absolutely beautiful!
Wow for those backup vocals.
Muy muy muy bien! Very helpful. I hope you are still around and make more videos.
Shaaganashi endau. I watch your videos to help me learn ojibwemowin. However, I liked the collage of your family photos along with the music. Darn, I see Kan zee commented...I'm subscribed to him, too. Chi miigwech to both of you and yours from Panama Central America.
You rock Helen!
Things like this are so important for us trying to reconnect and weren’t raised with the language. It’s comforting, but also very educational. I understand some because of reading, but actually hearing some of it pronounced and the nuances with grammar help so much in understanding vs learning.
Migwetch.....allo' from KY..., y'all
Gchi-Miigwech for this video.....Anishinaabemowin Ekinoomaagozid ndaaw - I am a student of anishinaabemowin and this video is so helpful because it allows me to hear conversation in the language.
Miigwech! I was wondering if there is a video for the Love song? I bought the CD and the learning book and I find the video soooo helpful! Gchi Miigwech for all you and Helen are doing to teach anishinaabemowin!

Went to the museum with my children from my class for I am a teacher as we enter the museum I knew just where to go with my kids and it took me to this round birch bark basket my mother made long ago which I donated to our museum on our reservation I seen the round little basket it bring tears to my I eyes but, could not show my feelings because my children was amazed at the detail and work that was done to make such beautiful work, my point is I had no idea where they display her work and for some reason I just found it. Miss her everyday . No one to talk to you know that mother's love and security . she's not with us but I know she's with me everyday. Miigwech Nimaamaa.
