    Demon possession is still happening today. And it IS getting worse. The fact that there is no getting logical with some people these days, just a complete block that would not happen 20 years ago is proof to me. It's like something has just overcome a whole group of people.

    I have serious doubts that this sermon can truly be comprehended without living through what happens when church leaders are confronted with things in their church body such as a family beating their 3 year-old child, a married elder who gets drunk with other couples from the church and has an affairs with the wives, or pastors teaching what clearly is not Biblical. These are but a few of the things I felt that i had to speak up about over the years. (I'm 65 and accepted Jesus as a child) I was told that I was a trouble maker and that the Bible says "love covers a multitude of sin" and that I was unloving and being divisive to the body. This is a but small sample. I wasn't being a jerk, I didn't scream from the rooftops, I simply brought it to the attention of leadership. Similar things have happened at virtually every church that I became part of. This led me to believe that the body part that I am, is the A-hole. Sorry for the language but there was no other way to make my point. I promise you, nobody wants that body part around, so I stopped attending live and now attend online churches. I'm not here commenting to tell you that you are wrong about anything with one exception: my reason for not attending is not because I'm stupid.... you actually said that, go back and listen. All in all I love your teaching and will continue watching and listening from here where i am. So again, I'm not here to beat anyone up. I just offer another perspective based on my experiences. God bless you and keep up the good fight because we need people like you who are called to lead.

    • @timberhillministries7311
      @timberhillministries7311 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "The part of the body I am is the A-hole" lol. I seriously laughed out loud at that. We may have that in common. My point with the stupidity comment is not that those who do not attend church are stupid people. Rather, that much of the reasoning for why people don't attend is. And I do stand by that, our personal experiences do not alleviate us from biblical commands. By this reasoning, if someone were persecuted for evangelizing they would have good reason to stop. Or if going against evil has caused us or our families harm, then it would be ok to go along with evil to avoid suffering. Quite simply this argument makes our own feelings a greater authority than Scripture which is not a good argument. That said, I absolutely agree with you that there are many wolves in many churches. It is for that reason that we need more "A-holes" in the churches. I want more men like you in my church!

    • @timberhillministries7311
      @timberhillministries7311 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By the way, I do know what it's like to confront church leaders for behaving wickedly because I have done it. In fact, the whole reason we planted this church is because I was driven out of my last church for church leadership teaching that if you wore the mask and got the vaccine during Covid that meant you were "loving your neighbor." Perhaps predictably it did not go over well. But I don't regret it.

    This is a complicated subject and the battle with the flesh can be one of much struggle. I love Jesus I believe that he died in the cross for my sins and there is evidence of that in my life and I know this. Works are not a part of Christian salvation. I understand the message and I don’t disagree but consider the thief on the cross. Loving obedience is resisting temptation in response to the love and mercy and patience and goodness of our God Jesus Christ. I hate sin, I am a sinner. I beg God to give me strength and I do have victory but yet I still am a sinner I do not celebrate or excuse my sin. But I know I am saved and loved by the creator of all things.

    • @timberhillministries7311
      @timberhillministries7311 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, brother (literally and figuratively, lol)! This is a complicated issue indeed. It is a topic that the greatest theologians throughout church history have wrestled with extensively. Two extremes need to be avoided. On the one hand, Scripture is clear that we cannot earn salvation through merit (I.e. “works). On the other hand, Scripture is also clear that obedience is not optional in the Christian faith. Thus, the critical concern is in understanding how “works” fit into the process. “Works” are a part of salvation, but they should be in response to salvation, not as currency to earn salvation.

    • @timberhillministries7311
      @timberhillministries7311 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would also say from a pastoral perspective that it is common for people who really do love Jesus and who struggle with sin in some area (as we all do) to hear this discussion in the wrong light. Because they love Jesus they do not want to offend Him - and rightly so. And so any discussion of biblical obedience makes them feel bad since it reminds them they are not perfect. But biblical obedience is not moral perfection (Jesus accomplished that for us). So be at peace, trusting in the finished work of Christ as you strive to live out your faith in loyal, loving, obedience.

  • @Kelsisgodzilla
    @Kelsisgodzilla 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love it! I literally was just speaking on this in comments to someone who responded to my comment of 'Faith without works is dead. It means nothing.' They then asked me "What is the works of God?" So I explained that God said if you LOVED him, you would keep his commandments. And keeping his commandments will bear fruit. Then I listed the 10 commandments and Jesus's summary of them at the end.

    Great sermon pastor Cody. I think a lot of people believe if they say they believe in Jesus Christ they don't have to do the work. I believe in him and I try to live my life the way he wants me to...I still stumble and fail and get back up and try again. I don't know if I will be saved....but I'm not going to stop trying.

I wish you were closer...I would love to go Bible study...ok let's me honestly I have an attention span of a flea....I get distracted very easily. My wonders off. I hear a word or phrase and it gets me thinking on it and that leads to something else and that leads to something else...and soon I lost my original thread of thought

      I think most people feel that way about reading Scripture. Certainly, that still happens to me. Nevertheless, Scripture is the primary way that God has chosen to reveal Himself to us and so we must discipline ourselves to seek to understand it. I also wish you were closer as it is my heart's desire to help people who are looking discover God through His Word.
