The only thing heavy deserves is a -33% damage penalty on his miniguns and reducing his health to 250 because he's blatantly op. He's just like pyro, but you actually have to aim.
as a heavy main this is a valid buff i love the shotgun but it lacks the sustain of the sandwich i love the idea
Choosing between the sandwich and shotgun feels like having to choose which of your kidneys to keep
No wonder people don't find playing heavy fun. You need the shotgun in order to move around without it being a pain in the ass (aka having to constantly jump rev near every corner to be sure you won't get caught while unreved). And you need the Sandvich or banana to be able to literally play the game (otherwise it's standing near a dispenser or health pack simulator). And you can't take both. It's not fun to need a pocket medic on you 24/7, because you probably won't get one. I totally agree that having both a shotgun and a lunchbox item should have been the default design, and would have made the class actually fun to play, without being overpowered in my opinion.

alright, you give heavy a lunchbox slot. Now how do you actually balance that out? It taking away the shotgun is kind of the main weakness of the thing. You have no easy damage to whip out if you get jumped by someone and are forced to rev up your minigun, giving the enemy more time to kill you. You are literally asking for the sandvich and other lunchbox items (with the exception of the steak) to have zero downsides.

The Sandvich also literally got its own meet the team, so it feels weird that it’s treated just the same as other unlocks when valve clearly at some point went “yeah, this thing should be stock and it should be heavies signature secondary.”

I think that if this was implemented into the game, I feel like Pyro deserves a 4th slot aswell. He either loses out on close range burst and consistency, long range afterburn, or extreme mobility. (So make a 4th slot for the flare gun. [put the jetpack and gas leak into the flare gun spot.])

Honestly Crossbow should've been the Medics stock primary, it still discourages you from fighting because it has reverse damage fall off and only 1 bullet in a clip so it's still not that good of a combat weapon, encouraging you to heal more, while also letting you contribute via occasional dmg with one syringe or even to heal from safe distance. TL;DR Stock Syringe guns were a mistake, if TF3 ever got made or TF2 got huge overhaul update, Crossbow should become stock, and syringe guns should be replaced by different unlocks(except stock syringe gun, this would be gone and nobody would care) Blutsauger and Overdose could become their own crossbow like unlocks and mostly retain their identity and be good.

@@danielsurvivor1372 Funnily enough, I actually go over exactly that in the commentary video! That bein' said, I'm a firm believer that folks who buy things in a living game are taking a risk more often than they realize, and I don't mind that. I think we should shake things up more often.

Yeah sure I get it and I think it is a good option, but. The heavy mains are sweaty enough without a 4th slot
6:04 maybe that could he good for an overdose rework or a new syringe gun for medicbht it would heal painfully low just 1 or 2 health faster firing speed less accuracy the heal doesnt affect uber reload when not active no overheal stuff like that
I dont know how but the stock syringe gun saved me multiple times from death by scouts and spys i didnt even heal anybody i just shot them its was suprisingly easy beacuse nobody expects it

IN DEFENSE OF STOCK MEDIC Before I start my "controversial" arguments, I wanted to talk about the true objective of a tf2 doctor, it's not to cure his patients, it's not to build Uber and especially not to hit that crossbow shot from the other side of the map. The real goal is to STAY ALIVE! Most of the doctor's unlockable weapons make you go from a more defensive position to an offensive one, this in itself is a big nerf, but I'll explain this later. The doctor's primary equipment is the best to keep you alive, he has a syringe weapon that deals pure damage with no disadvantage other than it being a projectile, but if you learn to use it correctly it causes a lot of damage and the best part, you are not obligated to use it if you have a good positioning, which is good to always be building uber, and the main mistake I see from people using this weapon is using it proactively. Which is trying to help your team with damage and disconnecting the medical weapon, syringe weapons have the slowest travel speed in the game, which makes them terrible on the offensive. HOWEVER, if you use it reactivates and when someone is heading towards you, this weakness of this weapon makes its strength as it becomes easier to hit the syringes, and the damage of this weapon is very high, and a total of 480 If you get them all right, but it's not necessary to get everything right, since most classes have 200 health and below. "But there's the blutsauger and the overdose which is better" firstly, the blutsauger forces you to be aggressive at all times to keep your life healthy, making you put yourself at unnecessary risks and consequently no bulding uber all the time. Of course there will be people talking about that time she saved you from that scout or that soldier, but her greatest strengths are in 1 vs 1 situations, but if you are in that situation you deserve to die, doctors always have to be with someone, and if someone separates you from your patient, that guy played well and deserves to be rewarded, And if you're not a very aggressive medic and you're playing as a decent medic, you'll only have a weapon that reduces your base regeneration, which is something a lot of people ignore, but it's a very important tool for the medic. Of course, minus 2 base regeneration may be little, but I saw this video that makes a comparison between the stock syringe gun and the blutsauger in regeneration, and of course it's an impossible scenario since the game has a lot of life sources, but It's cool to see the comparison: th-cam.com/video/nmy05igjKGI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=v4XQtFwjGeppInb1 And now the overdose,I consider this the best syringe gun for the doctor, but to use its maximum potential, you are forced to use other mediguns other than the stock one since it has the slowest uber, and don't even say "just use the ubersaw" and put yourself at even more risk? What's the point of earning 25% on Uber and being dead? and the same case of blutsauger which makes you be much more aggressive as a doctor, something you should avoid. And still talking about the overdose that 15% damage penalty may be quite ignoreable, but I did the math and overall you lose 80 total damage per clip, which makes it an exclusive tool for escaping and nothing more,which makes it much less flexible compared to the stock syringe gun. However, even though most people don't care about damage, and use it for its speed and say that it is a stock upgrade, know that medical weapons have an ability that imitates the user's speed, so if you want speed, just heal one scout. Of course it's not a consistent strategy, but at least you have this in your arsenal. And here comes the bonesaw which may even be the "worst" melee weapon since it has no effect, but it has the highest attack speed which is very good for finishing off opponents who underestimate you and of course it is the best weapon for self defense as well as the standard syringe gun, you see a pattern, don't you? And since you don't gain anything by hitting someone, you don't force yourself to try to put yourself at risk, which the ubersaw makes you tempted to do. And the medigun is the medigun...and that's it. Of course the crossbow and ubersaw exist, but they are only good if your team is good at protecting you, otherwise you will be more vulnerable than you already are. And another thing, I just hate people who just play a style of play without any variety just because it's the "meta", but this will make you very predictable for the opposing team which will cause a loss. Alternative: Make the crusader bolt the default alternative fire for all of med's syringe guns. Then edit the existing crossbow in some way to give it an alternative identity.

Found your video by seeing your reply to a comment saying about Heavy needs a 4th slot. Pretty great video,I never think Heavy needs both the sandvich with the shotgun and think the situations where both of the items would be bad at are just drawbacks of them. However,after watching this,I realize Heavy will be more fun of a class to play if he has a 4th slot.Really hope Valve will think of this

He literally has fewer weapons than any other class. Suppose the scout lost his bat. He would be forced to fight with his fists like the Heavy already does. This is more than fair.
The Teu-Tonic has something potential as a side grade. While not as effect at pushing like the other mediguns (side from the Quick-Fix), this design enables the medic to survive long by removing the need to be at a certain distance over a long period of time to heal. Instead, you can jump in, fire a few healing bubbles, and duck out, reducing the time in the frontlines and risk of and enemy flank catch you off guard.
Give the Heavy the Sandvich as a fourth slot feels analogous to when the Medic was updates to have passive health regen.
