The scariest thing that ever happened in ARK

Ethan Hiro and myself, total ARK noobs, were going down stream from our camp into dense dangerous dinosaur territory. Being very careful... but not careful enough!
Phil Donahue 1986 coming out as gay to heterosexual spouse and children
มุมมอง 237K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This was an episode of Phil Donahue in which my father was a panelist discussing his coming out as gay to his wife and child. This episode also features a woman who's husband came out as gay and another woman who came out as lesbian to her family. It's an interesting view into the attitudes from the now distant 1980's.

God Bless This Woman’s Heart
This type of life is not Gods plan. Everyone will stand face to face with God one day and will be in for a rude awakening!
Why get married when you are gay? It leaves the other person hurt.
My god, what these people had to go through. It breaks my heart to know that sooooo many of the very pioneers who championed the rights I have now not only had to suffer prejudice like this, but also many of them died of complications due to AIDS
Watching this in 2025 sad that it feels like the United States is slipping back to a time intolerance was the norm. 😞
The one old man in the audience shaking his head when the lady speaks about the horrific way that gay kids are treated. In other words, he either did not agree with it, or felf that it was ok to mistreat gay people.
Because of guys like this didn't help matters with the spread of AIDS
He set the tone for his show
I remember the day I found out Michelle Obama is a man n Barack was gay.
Phil Donahue helped me realize my parents are gay.
Phil Donahue helped me realize my parents are gay.
Corn hole it baby
He invented virtue porn, promoted stereotypes, and tabloid television. No hero, sorry.
I in 10 ppl are not gay... they always pedal that untruth. I in 4 are gay ...
God doesn't judge
People are really stupid
Wrong is wrong and right is right End of
Who invented Gay? God didn't !! Give us all a break please.
It is not the homosexual who is sick but the society which condemns him
Thank you!
why is love so hard for humans to understand its so frustrating
That one lady needs to pray to Jesus for a style makeover!!!
Comes out of the closet to his wife, leaves wife, gets AIDS, dies. Isn't it obvious this is one of God's most reviled sins? When you've been around long enough you start to see there aren't many coincidences.
And, if God hates gay people, then it must be acceptable for his followers to do the same! Praise be! Amen! 🎉🎉🎉!
33:00 Nope, he's wrong, God *doesn't* want him to be gay, or God's bible wouldn't be warning the world against these unclean devils. The lady that told them to pray to Jesus, was telling them the truth. 🙏 She's trying to help them.
How unfortunate that she could not help the thousands of gay teens who have commited suicide, or been thrown in the streets, been beaten and murdered, the bright young minds that have been ruined for life due to religiously sanctioned and societaly condoned systematic dehumanization of homosexuality.
@@williambaker-d7h ...They wouldn't listen. They didn't even really listen to her there.
Very brave people in those times.❤️
Nothing in the history of humanity has done more harm or caused more misery, cruelty, death, destruction, or suffering, than 1. Christianity, and 2. Communism. With Christianity as the clear leader in that race. The woman @17:45 is a shining example of that.
All of these stories just drive home the decades upon decades of utter misery that gay people in this country had to endure. How many millions of people had their lives ruined, or had what could have been and would have been happy, authentic, and love-filled lives reduced to ones of loneliness and fear. It's so good to know we've overcome this, but boy I feel sad for all the generations who came before who didn't get the chance to live their lives in the open, with the people they loved.
That first woman broke my heart and yet also really gave me hope for humanity, because that was in 1986, and she was just a good person doing every morally right action back then, even when there was still so much hate towards gays and fear of AIDS. That is TRUE LOVE, and her and her husband's story is just so very sweet in its own way. A product of its time, certainly, and hopefully not to be produced again, now that we understand and accept all sexual orientations, but dear lord, what a good love story it made. 🥲
This woman is the best kind of person. I'm sorry that all 4 of them had to go through this kind of trauma. It was brave of her husband to come out to her, too. Quite frankly, this could just as well have ended with her husband coming suicide.
2:32 SHOCKING!
Thank you, Phil, for showing compassion and activist support for LGBT people in the 1980s and 1990s, when AIDS and homophobia were decimating our community. I remember watching your show in Australia. I am sure you saved lives.
There was no such thing as alphabet people in the 80's and 90's, they were gay or lesbian, TWO groups of people, and saying a certain person was gay, when they were OBVIOUSLY gay wasn't homophobe, it was the truth. Exactly like now, saying Elton John, Boy George, Freddie Mercury, is gay, is not a phobe when it's THE TRUTH. 2:33 Perfect example. Lesbian. But somehow I'm a homophobe for saying that.
whuuut !! not a homosexual experience ?!? btw. i love homosexual experiences !! I'm making making light of this because there was so much bullsit and hate to deal with. i was 20 yrs old at the time of this broadcast and living in Toronto. things were very far from perfect, however, i am still so grateful for being born and raised in Toronto during the 80s 🤙 for those of you that do, stop calling it 'gay sex'. it's just sex ! full stop.
My late parents were closeted racists. Only their foul language released what they really were. We knew a young male who worked for my father and company and suddenly announced he was gay. Which I had no idea what that was honestly. Only a few years later did my mother admit to me that both my parents intently made sure he and I worked or spent time together. She said "we want to make sure he wouldnt do anything to my brother and I. His name was Robbie, and age 6-8 taught me to tie my shoes. Ive tried contacting him via social media. But I think Im paying for the sins of my parents.
Homosexuality is an abomination
I'm the eyes of who? God? Baloney.
its so true in the Bible how it says: "there is nothing new under the sun." the issues that we face today have been the same issues that generations before already faced and dealt with.
What a dumb man to tell a 4 year old anything about him loving a man. These people are dangerous.
Just people ruining other peoples lives..
interesting that the women in the audience have an issue.....intolerence to the ummmph degree
today is 10/5/2024, look how far we've come !!
Very moving ❤🩷🩵🤍💙💜💟💖💓
the Lord can deliver
I agree mostly with the audience on multiple fronts and I believe that society shaped their view in the same society has shaped the view today. Also Sandy comparing homosexuality to Sickle cell is so unintelligent.
Loved Phil Donahue ..and his show. The courage of these guests to present their experiences to the audience and to TV and for Phil to broadcast this important subject was so very brave. And helped paved the way for more acceptance and compassion.
RIP Phil
We have come a long way, though we still have a ways to go. Kids (teenagers and younger) today throw the word "gay" all over the place.
Looking at this from 2024 is appalling. I'm so thankful Western society has become more accepting. I feel for all these folks.
The ignorance is astounding......as for the Jesus woman....what a silly person.......
I think it must be easier for parents to accept a pregnancy over homosexuality because one brings forth life, the other death
Phil was an amazing host ❤. He will be missed.
People can be really horrible.
We need these type of talk-shows today, where nothing was off subject. Maybe we wouldn't be so divided today, maybe we wouldn't have fallen for all the bs that has been thrown at us since 2016. ❤
What is the cause of this "divide"? What group or segment of society (ie. most likely usa) is the one who reflects straying and is a factor of the "division". A word to the wise.
