      Do it in 2 parts spray one end while resting it on othervend. Then swop when enough layers are on it

      The boss won't crush as the foam will bounce back and the latex should protect it.

    Good day dear Sir, In the future do you plan to make a Larp saber? The reason I ask is my future project is to make a Mongolian saber sword. I can’t use the rod you use because it is completely straight. I was planning to use a PVC pipe formed to the proper angle by using the hot sand technique. Then glue in PVC caps & do the rest l the way you do it . What do you really think of my idea? Should be safe .Sort of making a boffin but formed as a Mongolian sword.

      I don't think youl be allowed to use that as a core mate. I use curved core that are hand made for curved weapons.

    If you score the foam, then take a heat gun to it, It will open up and make your wood grain easy

      Normally yes but the foam from tygess don't open up that much. Not enough for my liking.

    With some flexiing ive found that the flexi paint comes away from the latex quite easily. How do you avoid this happening?

      I use thin coats and allow plenty of drying time. Sometimes might need to give latex and gentle rub down with some high grain sand paper just to score it.

      Excellent, thank you. I'll give that a try. I've always just used latex on all of the coats. After trying Flexi Paint, it's so much nicer to paint and highlight with. I didn't want to miss out on i . lol

      Yes carbon fibre and for pollards I tend to use 12.7mm

      It's 45g density closed cell foam I belive 8mm was used on this one. And the glue is alpha thixofix

    Great video as always. I have question though. Is a latex spray something that only comes in a bottle to be used in a spray gun or would a product like Plastidip or Hexflex provide the same sort of functionality?

      Plastidip and hexflex are not strong enough to protect the foam in larp situation and you can buy latex and brush it on. But the finish won't be as good.

    this one was really fun to watch come together. never ceases to amaze how one minute you can have a rough lump of foam and some glue covered strips, the next minute you've got a monster sized bagel lol

    Still having issues with the glue coat, im continuously getting globs of glue. What would be recommended amount of paint thinner and alphafix ?

      Might just be the thinner your using mate. Need a really good one I use lachler speedy thinner

      Yes latex adds a good deal of protection to the item. And adds a longer life span if regular silicone spray is added now and then.

      You can brush it on. But try using a foam brush as it leaves less brush strokes

    What is the wall thickness of the carbon fibre tube core you use?

      For this sword it was a 8mm carbon fibre core. Do not use tubes make sure its a solid rod.
