Off-Grid clothes washer
Washing clothes and personal hygiene is an important thing to plan for whether you're intentionally living off the grid, or you're planning for a scenario where the grid is not functioning as it should. In either case, washing clothes with a simple system that utilizes 5 gallon buckets and a plunger is a good option. It costs little, takes virtually no time to set up, and is efficient with the water and time that it uses. www.selfreliancepublishing.com

How to fix a hole in clothing
มุมมอง 1115 ปีที่แล้ว
In today's throwaway society, many people don't give fixing clothes a second thought. They just throw them out and buy a replacement. As a prepper though, you should have the tools and skills needed to fix things that break. Basic sewing skills are an example of that. www.selfreliancepublishing.com
How to make reverse wrap cordage
มุมมอง 325 ปีที่แล้ว
The ability to make primitive cordage is an important skill for bushcrafting and wilderness survival. In this video I show the basics of how to make cordage using the reverse wrap method. The technique itself is relatively easy to master. The part that is more difficult to grasp is which material to use and how to process it. So it's important to learn which resources are available in your area...

How to make survival cordage: Quick and dirty
มุมมอง 565 ปีที่แล้ว
Cordage is useful for many things in a survival situation. It's important to conserve resources though, and many situations may not call for a high quality reverse wrap cordage. If all you need is a short length for lashing something together, you may get buy with just using long strands of natural fiber without twisting them into real cordage. www.selfreliancepublishing.com
Controlling aphids in a sustainable manner
มุมมอง 175 ปีที่แล้ว
Aphids can become major pests that effect the yield of your garden. If you have a plan in place though, you can limit their impact on your garden. You do this by discouraging their presence by influencing the environment, and responding appropriately when they do show up. Both of those things can be done in a sustainable and organic manner. www.selfreliancepublishing.com

You have made a very valid point! I appreciate that you took time to mention you own a few other weapons of different calibers, however, the ammunition you have to actually accumulate and store is one caliber. I also appreciate that you took some time to actually research and present the historical evidence to back your argument/case. Thank You. For a well researched, thought out post on this topic. May you and your Family have a Blessed Day.

If a situational problem presents itself I have a .45/.45 Thompson combo. I also have AR and handgun combos in 9mm. Reason I have so many various combos - I can hand off some to family members to enhance our survivability.

The never find yourself in a scenario that needs more then 3 shots is a myth self deffense shootings end in an average of 3 shots not a majority of 3 shots most self deffense scenarios end in no shots and you rarely end up in one to begin with but that dosent mean you can't or won't end up in one that requires more if you end up In a shooting self deffense scenario where the bad guy dosent run away the probality of you using more then 3 shots is fairly high the reload statement is true as gun fights don't last long and you don't have time to reload under fire so what you have in capacity is what you have drawing a back up is actually more common then reloading so that's worth mentioning I don't hate revolvers I love revolvers especially for self deffense but all guns have limitations advantages and disadvantages the revolvers is capacity and its advantages are reliability and not being able to induce a jam if someone grabs it

One of the things that Dave Canterbury talks about is a reloading kit for the 12 gauge, and in his reloading kit, he has Pyrodex RS for the powder. Since the fellow making this video has made reference to Mr. Canterbury in the context of the single-shot 12 gauge, he may very well be using a similar setup for his field reloading kit.

An often overlooked advantage of revolvers and lever guns is that ammo quality is less important than with semi-autos, so you can load anything that fits and won't have problems with the action as it is all manual. It's why I like bolt action hunting rifles and break/pump shotguns over self loaders. The people going on about magazine capacity clearly don't hunt - if your first shot doesn't hit, most animals won't hang around for your 20th!

      @deltafour1212 3 ปีที่แล้ว

To be fair, my split pouch sling isn't a single string but a 4 strand round braid on the down and release string and the pouch being flat braided like yours is in the video. It had cleaner release, consistent accuracy, awesome velocity and you could throw a rock a country mile. With the single string leather pouch, it was just the opposite. I noticed with a single string you feel the leather pouch and string stretch as you slung heavier ammo reducing the velocity of the throw. With the 4 strand round braid it gave stiffness, less flex and a whole lot of oomph when slinging it.

Yep. That's what I've been telling them down at the office. These guys with 20 different guns/calibers...too much. If you got friends you coop prep with, consider standardizing your choice of a caliber so you can share. If I had to choose only one firearm and no sidearm? 20 gauge with a 20-22 inch barrel and a wide variety of ammo: Birdshot, BB, Buck, and Slugs. 12 gauge tears up small game too much but a 20 gauge will kill anything in North America with the right load and shot placement. It's like the "intermediate round" philosophy: Reasonably powerful and better weight/firepower ratio for carrying lots of ammo.
