Roscoe! But the difference is not really noticeable on my year bikes, im sure the newer ones have a whole different feel tho

Hey man I’m curious as to was the process for the 27.5 conversion was, can you just get the wheels from the smaller marlin 5 and swap over the gear set for the rear? Also do you happen to know the widest tire the stock 29 can run?
Yea man, I actually run a plus size tire and rim! I bought them off market place and had the hubs swapped over to fit my buke. I believe 2.8 would be the biggest u could get on there!!

I have a rockshox judy on it with 120mm of travel! I believe 110 would be perfect for it tho
And i would go with atleast a rockshox recon tho thats what i have on my roscoe! way better than a judy

I've just got a trek marlin 5, and im wondering if i should switch out the 29" wheels with 27.5" wheels, should i? And also, what upgrades did you do and do you think i should do some of them?
Definitely swap the wheels to 27.5 with 2.8 tires if you are wanting to go with more agressive trails! best upgrade you could do then dropper post and fork! It really just depends on the riding you want todo and how the bike fits you! So get comfortable then go for some performance
@tyronemfjenkinz So, I am 5,6" I am probably gonna upgrade the wheels, what fork do you recommend though, and did you take it to a shop to get it done, or did you do it yourself?
@@LukasGaz.444 fork i took to a shop because i had a different headset installed, a recon is what i have on my Roscoe and I’ve sent it plenty of times! And good choice i would just but a used set of 27.5 with 2.8 tires and have the best of both worlds!

I just got one I upgraded from a Huffy from Acadamy and I love mine I can really tell the quality difference.
Shoudlve just bought a higher end bike for the same components plus better geometry for the same price 💀 waste of money in my opinion

i own every Trek marlin 3 4 5 6 7 models. i own three 5 models, i had one out on trails just like these yesterday, i took it well, but i feel my derailleur slapping, and i don't feel confident as i do on my santa cruz bronson c, but no other complaints.
I thought the entry level Trek Marlin was the Marlin 4
up until the Marlin 8 they are all entry level, but great entry level bikes@@beaviccoon470

i own this and a trek session 8.8, it does not hold a candle to the session on the downhill, but a great little bike for $600

Hello. Can you help me? I have Trek Marlin 5. What will be better if I upgrade Marlin. I will install on it a Rockshox Recon 130 mm, 11 speed Deore, 35 mm stem. Or is it better to sell it and buy Roscoe? If I do upgrade, how much different will it feel to riding the Roscoe? It may be much more comfortable there due to the geometry of the frame.
Upgrade. I can get a full sus with my upgrades but my marlin 5 holds a special place in my heart hahah

Yea ive seen better welds on my roscoe but luckily they have lifetime warranty on frames so makes me feel better plus ive been beating mine pretty hard past few year so I believe you should be good i just check it out every now and again to make sure nothing crazy is happening

I hear some people say that the Marlin 5 cant handle jumps. I honestly believe this is said because Trek wants you to spend more money on a higher dollar bike so they say dont jump on this one. I believe with a little upgrading this bike is perfectly capable. Even higher dollar frames break sometimes. Thoughts??
100% i have a roscoe and a fuse sitting in my front room and the marlin can hang with em all day! Enjoy what you have because there is always something better, no matter what you get!
I have seen brands that are not popular with zoom forks and it still was able to tolerate dirt jumps. SO yeah the Marlin can def handle it as long as you aint heavy
Does the front cassette from the specialized fit the trek or did you have to change the drive shaft?
I used the cassette and crank arms from specialized and keep the original bottom bracket
