Escape the Hassle: DIY Micro Sprinkler Set-Up for Containers Saves Time
Ordered a TON of citrus trees. Kinda went crazy lol. They mainly arrived in an airy peat moss, some were kinda root bound in a tall (12" x 5" V container) Put all in 511 with compost as binder (Fall going into winter nutrients) All OK so far, south facing window, water 2x per week. Cara Cara getting yellow leaves tho. First time citrus addict 😂 Any advice would be appreciated
Keep evenly moist, up the light! One question, did you make sure to add the lime. For some reason it is the number one missed thing
@growingcitrusincontainers I didn't add the lime. I found your video afterward. Working on the light and will add the lime. You're awesome! Thank you
Checking in! We're now at 5 weeks since we started the clock. How are the cuttings doing? Have any of them rooted?
I’ll check tomorrow! Thank you for the reminder!!
I enjoyed your video, but might I make a suggestion of my own from my experience growing 15 citrus trees over the last forty years. I think your kumquat tree is a Meiwa rather than a Nagami. Meiwa has round fruit with a delicious sweet rind and the juice inside is slightly sweet as well. Nagami’s fruit is more pear shaped with a sweet rind as well but the inside juice is sour. Meiwa was one of the first citrus trees I planted and I can’t recommend it enough. My Owari Satsuma took around ten years to go into full production but it too is a great tree.
It’s a v cent kumquat
I love citrus I have 10 citrus. Are all your citrus in pot?
Every last one
My Satsuma mandarin has a more drapey growth habit. Almost lost it to a boring insect but thanks to IV Organics 3in1 it survived and has put on lots of new growth. Meyer lemons are widely grown in Hawai'i I love the fruit, but needed a Eureka for zest and because my daughter prefers the taste. Calamondin are called Calamansi here and it is used in Filipino cooking. Thank you for your video.
Most welcome!!! Use code GCNC10 to save 10% on any purchase on IVOrganics
Are your trees grafted or self rooted (from cuttings) ? Do you have any grafted to the dwarfing stock that has 3 leaves ?
Mostly grafted and some are rooted. And no not yet on dwarf, semi dwarf yes
Love your fruits. Want to start growing some citrus in containers too. Can you help me with the soil mix to use?

Hello, the U-shaped leaves of some citrus fruits show that the sun has been very strong and that they have been hot, to avoid this you can use white clay (kaolin) in spray, in addition to protecting against sunburn it also helps to limit parasites.
@@baskagrume I normally use IVOrganics but thank you
Wouldn't the 5 in 1 fruit not stay true because of cross pollination?
Just increased fruit set
Great recommendations. I've found lemons do very well in containers. I have both Eureka and Meyer lemon trees. My satsuma and clementine trees are also pretty easy to look after.
Thank you for the validation too.
Indiana here 🙏 grow lots of tropical fruit in containers! Everyone thinks I'm nuts 😂😂
@@natebedwell0681 well I would be considered nuts too!
@@growingcitrusincontainers it's addictive 😂😂 just moved everything inside for the winter, ready for spring already
@@natebedwell0681 keep us updated on how it goes!?!?! Feel feee to let me know if there are any video ideas you would like
Would a satsuma do well growing mainly indoors? Really wanting a mandarin over a kumquat. My meyer lemons are doing well indoors.
@@bradvb23 it should!
Love your channel. My first year with citrus and have 17 already. Can't wait for my mandarin to start bearing fruit. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the words. Let me know what videos will help in the future
Hi, If your kumquat has fruit on it, would you still leave it out in the low 30s. Also, I asked in the fb group so I'll ask you too. Are you using feel like temperature or actual temperature. I'm a beginner and I'm not sure if it matters. Thank you for this information in this video.
I won’t let the fruit freeze. Actual temp
@@growingcitrusincontainers ok. Thanks
My hubby likes tart while I like sweet. All on one tree would be great. Lol
Me too!! He would like kumquats. Sweet rind and a puckering inside. You eat the whole thing!
Where did you get your 5 in 1 tree?
Grafted it.
Good starter citrus recommendations 👌
Thanks G, for sure the 3 easiest for newbies
Gotta get a variegated calamondin!
They are pretty cool trees
And they say Meyer lemon is "easy" lol Never bought one as they are expensive for something I generally don't eat
Very good video thanks you like 👍🤩
Most welcome! Thank you for watching
Very helpful! Thankyou for sharing!
Of course!!!!
trees are looking good!
Thank you!
Hello, how do variegated kumquat fruit taste like? Are they more sweet or sour?
Just like a nagami. Sour! But with a sweet peel
Much enjoyed
Thank you so much
Gorgeous calamondin!
Thank you so much. Truly can be a center piece
Awesome citrus collection 😎
Thank you so much! 1/2 of what I used to have
Mine are my Variegated Pink lemon tree and my Key Lime tree.
😊👏🏾
What product did you mean u use once a week?
Sorry I wasn’t more clear. I use the Ultra once a week, the granular every 2-3 months and the nute sprays once a month. I’ll edit the description to include my schedule. Thank you for asking!
Happy trees for sure with this feeding regimen
Thank you sir! Hope you and the fam are well!
First I've heard of Growscripts. Don't see them on Amazon unfortunately. I'm using Miracle Grow Citrus Mango Avocado Shake n Feed as a slow release, Urban Farm Apples & Oranges Fruits and Citrus liquid fertilizer, and Southern Ag chelated citrus nutritional spray -- a similar regiment. The mix of slow/fast fertilizers seems to work well for you too.
I order straight from the company. Good prices and shipping.
Is this water soluble the one from your fertilizing vid? Looking to put in an order with them and want to make sure I get all the good stuff! Thanks so much for these videos!
Yes it is. I love it. Lot of hard work went into it. Make sure you use the code GCNC10 to save 10%. Plus I use there granular instead of osmocote plus. It’s basically the same thing but way cheaper
@@AngelaWolverton new video coming out!
Its amazing that from trial and error over the years I use a very similar basic mix, but never added osmocote, just tossed on top as needed. This is a great video, thanks👍🏻🏆
I’m glad you liked it!
Good way to repurpose the cup
🤩
Looks like a great product 👌
Thanks my friend❤

Hi, this is off subject but what size containers are your pomegranates in? Thanks for the information on lemons. I follow!
Currently 5 gallons
@growingcitrusincontainers thanks. I didn't know they would fruit in shallow containers. I'm using a 5 gallon bucket that is deeper than yours. I'm switching to the barrel type you have. A video on the pomegranates would be great if you get time. Heading over to facebook.
Not citrus, but at so one point I can fo a funday Sunday vid
Do it pls!
Thanks
Thanks man!

Oh! Fold the edges over and roll flat with a rolling pin to eliminate the sharp edges.
Can also use aluminium pie plates. Gives you a great excuse to eat more pie!
Love the way you explain things. Great video!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Great video with clear instructions. Thanks!!
