Bolt Cutter Restoration
Hello everybody! Today I want to show you my new restoration video project. I bought this bolt cutter on the scrap yard for 3$. At the beginning I cleaned up bolt cutters from rurst. They have been painted and sharpened. They also got new grips.

I have a pair like this with the same style steel spring. I was told by scout crafter they would bang on the threads of the bolt so the nut wouldn’t back off. I’m halfway through the restoration and can’t reassemble it because the square bolt doesn’t seem to wanna go back in its hole, let alone the nut screwing back onto the gauled threads. Any fix?

i just bought a 600mm bolt cutter for 9,80€. i don't think it's worth this restoration... i mean if i ask someone to restore it for me, it will cost more than the bolt cutter itself... well maybe if it's a branded one...

Any idea what brand those bolt cutters are cuz I have the exact same set and I can't find a name on them anywhere
I think mine is called HKP and it is almost exactly the same as the one in the video. The only different is that on the one side of the bolt cutters, where the blades are, there is a tiny flathead screw in the horizontal plate.
@@sapphire8916 HK Porter are some of the best Bolt Cutters out there, especially if they are the American made pair. Newer HKPs are made overseas and aren't as good. No name cutters are less expensive and are low quality that break easily. Hold onto the HKPs, they are worth restoring.

Where did you obtain a new "plunger" or whatever it's called, the part that compresses the air? I'm trying to get my ancient pump to push air, but that part is worn out.
Hi. It's easy to make a new leather plunger for it. You just neeed some leather, warm water and something to form it over.
