I'm a much bigger fan of aerial ace rn because that pacing comes up clutch for it, especially against drapion

I recently added acrobatics to mine, and I found myself not getting enough energy for my charge move. I think I’m going to be switching it back. It is nice when you go against another jumpluff though!

@@kenzienyc It’s worth a shot but diggersby and kwak will be noticeably harder to deal with as well as not as dominant of a matchup against gatr and drif. It does make the grasses a bit easier however

@@justinchoi5985 I think it might be a bit too squishy. Since the current meta is heavily based on bulk, some teams could be too much to handle based solely on that. If you’re going to pick an extra shadow other than drapion, I’d make it jumpluff since bibarel already hits hard so the extra bulk from it being non-shadow helps

+ i recommend using dunsprace as a lead then shadow pidgeot and wigglytuff

@@maxi_0311 Skarm is actually a lot easier to deal with than Corviknight as both shadow drapion and bibarel have positive matchups into the Skarm. Plus I wouldn’t expect to see Skarm around that much at all :)

@@Grydor34 Always play out the 1s straight rage fist against clodsire as that’s the shielding scenario you win. Shield their first move as they are most likely not to bait. Be quick on the counter swap of your wiggly into the gatr so you can reach a swift before they reach a second hydro

Great content as always!

Swap into drapion and bait with the aqua tail after building up to the crunch. The bait is just in case your opponent tries to make a catch of the move. If they don't go for the catch, then they'll almost always shield the bait since a crunch will basically one shot them. After the aqua tail bait, you'll shield their move and then go for a crunch.

@@lilyeeezyyyy Stay in with Annihilape and go straight rage fist. If they bait with an iron head, they’ll then reach a sky attack so you’ll have to play out the two shield scenario where you now have a ramped up Annihilape and the corviknight is now gone. If they full send the sky attack, it’ll be iv dependent as to whether or not they reach a second sky attack so make sure you’re counting. If it is sky attack, you’ll shield that and continue to counter down, if it’s only an iron head, you’ll let it go, and now win the 1 shield scenario.

@@safalligal3849 Swap into drapion and just keep farming until they throw first (which you no shield) or you basically reach 100 energy. You don’t want to throw first unless you’re loaded up so you can punish whatever they swap into as a lot of times if you throw right away, azu will tank that move, bank their energy, and then pivot where you now can’t do anything against their pivot.

@@peterrushworth4814 You need at least 124.34 attack to get the breakpoint against the rank 1 clod and 126.12 to get the breakpoint against the most bulk weighted clod possible (0/15/2). You also need around 104 def to get the bulk point against most toxapex

@@Randal-su1bi Annihilape can handle corviknight just fine and if you bait it out with the shadow drapion safe swap, you now win the zeros with a singular poison sting advantage

@@Maindemidas It can be worth the shot but I haven’t used shadow Annihilape before so I’m not sure how it affects the different lead matchups yet

I'd say it can definitely still work extremely well since it functions as an ABB team to it

I play out the zero shield scenario (as that's the only shielding scenario you win) and then pivot into cradily after you fire off the second x-scissor. From there, it definitely all depends on your opps team composition

Since you need your charja around to deal with the ferro but it also gets chipped a ton by the talon, all you can really do is pivot and just try to preserve that little hp that’s left on the charja after it throws the second discharge against the talon.

@@SzI18 For toxapex safe swap you bank a move on charja and then pivot to gastro. For Cradily lead, you play out the zeros with charja as that’s the only shielding scenario you win. If they give up a shield, you just let your charja go down and come in with your own cradily

@@victordaniel16 Stay in with charja and throw an X-scissor right away as this will now be on good timing due to the 1 turn it takes for your opponent to swap. If your opponent shield your move, stay in with the charja. If they let it go, you either stay in (if your back line handles their lead) or swap to your cradily (if you need the charja aligned to their lead).

@@megalomaniacv3706 The charjabug you have (1/12/14), should survive the octazooka and dragon breaths to reach a second x-scissor on 1hp against higher ranked shadow kingdra. With the default rank and more attack weighted variants it’ll come down to DRE as to whether or not you get off that second x-scissor. An even higher ranked charja won’t have to worry about DRE due to its slightly higher stat product causing the octazooka to almost always do 1 less hp worth of damage (meaning you’ll basically always survive on 1hp). In my opinion, it’s worth building so you don’t have to rely on dre for what could change a dominant match to now a disadvantageous one. But say you don’t have a better charja and you don’t get dre (you faint with the move), then come in with cradily and give up a shield so you can get rid of the shadow kingdra. You want to preserve the cradily just in case they have something like a jumpluff or decidueye behind it. I also unfortunately don’t share my own ivs for competitive reasons but am always happy to answer any questions regarding stats you want/need for matchup purposes :)

@@KPine You're right on the Shadow Kingdra IV call. Seems like I was just playing on low enough elo where atk weighted Shadow Kingdras were being used and throwing on bad timing, as I was able to live 1 Octazooka and 20 DBs on 2-4 HP during today's sets (all positive!). I would've still died if they had CMP'd me, however, so I'm still considering building the #12 Charjabug. Is DRE the same as New Mechanic? I'm unfamiliar with the term. I figured that if the opponent had a hard-counter to Gastrodon in the back of a Kingdra lead, it would be an unwinnable game, but I'll try preserving Cradily on more of those games where Charjabug has to go down, thanks for the advice! Regarding the IVs, it's unfortunate, but completely understandable. I'll happily settle for a per case basis if you're willing to go through the extra hassle, though. Only real uncertainty is with my 1/11/8 (#103) Gastrodon. Can't recall specific examples, but it feels like it barely misses out on KOs while also barely not living hits. I'm curious if this is just a me experience and I should build a bulkier or higher atk weighted Gastrodon or if it's a shared experience with you. Thanks for your reply!

@@megalomaniacv3706 DRE stand for damage registration error and is the same as “New Mechanic”. As for gastrodon, those 1hp survives and barely not living hits are probably more just unfortunate/unlucky than anything. You’ll also want to go for as high of a stat product as possible

@@AusJoel13 It could work but Cradily tends to be one of those mons that performs better as the non-shadow. So it may be worth a shot to try, but if you have the resources to spend, I’d build the non-shadow Cradily

What's the team surrounding the Ferrothorn? It should always get baited in by Cradily on the safe-swap as long as you're not forced to stay in on the lead with Charjabug, like against Kingdra or Talonflame.

@@JMO469 As megalomaniac said, most teams that have a ferro in the back are also strong to charja in the lead. So hopefully it gets baited out by your Cradily when you safe swap it
