Iv been riding for 40 years and your crazy if think it dont matter experience is everything .
Is the ninja 650 really a slouch it’s acceleration times look good I was thinking of buying it. do you have any other suggestions for around the same price?
@@BenAshet from someone that had one you are better off with a 500 if you want a true sport bike. The 650 leans more into the sport touring category. It has handle bars as well making more of a naked bike with fairings…. Question is are you looking for something under or over that 600 CC mark?
@ it doesn’t really matter the cc I was wanting something around as fast as the ninja 650 so I was looking at the Yamaha r7 also since that is around the same price. I picked the ninja 650 because it was more comfortable but thats also fast but I don’t want a bike that’s going to be a slouch like you said.
@ between those two I would no hesitation choose the R7 - I would look at 4xr, R7, Rs660 and gxs 8r.
@ appreciate that thank you
My understanding is that you go to the market and buy the heaviest and most powerful bike, drop it, then get scared and never ride again 😂
@@adr2567 specifically a hayabusa, that’s why they all have rebuilt titles lol
@@isaiahdcherry Yup, though it's a pty they can't buy them turbocharged straight from the showroom 🤣
You can wreck yourself on any cc bike. What even is a beginner bike? You are buying a bike and are 100% expecting to grow out of it? If thats the case, just get a litre bike now and keep it, when youve grown into it. For Everybody else, who doesnt care about identifying themselves with whatever demographic: Get a bike that fits your body size, regardless of experience. Edit for toxicity: Is this your first bike and are you now claiming to be an expert giving advice to youngones? Are you currently riding your beginner bike?
@@mind_games_eng I’m pretty sure this is along the lines of what I said - Get a bike that works for you .. use riding courses to gain experience. In terms of my experience , in the few months that I’ve been riding I’ve put down over 5,000 miles, and I take my bike everywhere. I try to get on the bike everyday, not just a weekend warrior. That being said I no where claim to be an expert. Only provide experience from the journey.
@@isaiahdcherry haha i wrote that, hadnt even reached half of it, u good
@@mind_games_eng all good! I appreciate you for watching 🫡
why do you ride the bike in track mode when individual is also adjustable?
@@1ns0MNla I changed the rearsets which causes you to unplug a module for the rear brake. It throws a code and says brake is stuck. I’ve been too lazy to buy the part I need to fix it so I just ride in race mode.
@@isaiahdcherry interesting. I've seen other videos of people riding their 660's in track mode on the streets, which caused me some confusion as to why that would be necessary
@ honestly the difference in the two isn’t much. Time attack gives you full options as well. The woodcraft rear set which I have needs a brake switch- I had to look it up to remember 😂😂
Having a liter bike for the majority of your first few months of riding and claiming success just because you're still here and haven't crashed is not a good metric of success. Sure you can go to work and back and ride around town, but you should learn and become very proficient with emergency braking, counter steering, braking mid corner, trail braking, and throttle control. Learning those on a liter bike is way harder and you're just going to fall behind on skill level by getting a liter bike early on. All bikes can perform well on the street and track, a beginner does not have nearly enough skill to outride any motorcycle. Buy a used motorcycle about 50hp or less and not too heavy. The only difference is top speed and acceleration, most bikes have very similar mid corner speed, depends on the riders skill level. Pro riders pass liter bikes on ninja 400s in the corners. Get a small, light, affordable bike and work on the fundamentals. Way safer and more fun that way
@@OmGiTsMeTaStY agreed I wouldn’t suggest a litre bike for everyone but they are also all different. My main point is to get something you are comfortable with. If you have something you can’t grow into I think you will lift have a new bike in a month. Using different courses as well to help develop additional skills.
@isaiahdcherry grow into is largely a myth. When people have grown out of a bike they are just saying they are used to the power and no longer surprised by it. 99% of the time they still can't do slow speed maneuvers, can't brake properly, can't corner well, and just lack overall riding skill. Just because you're bored of twisting the throttle does not mean you have out grown the bike. Its just the start. And so what if you don't like your bike after a few months? It's easy enough to post it up and sell it. Bikes are easy to buy and sell so no need to rush it
@ I don’t disagree with that either, everyone had a different learning curve. Some practice , some don’t. To me at the end of the day it depends on the rider. Another thing is a lot of these new bikes have so much technology padded into them that it can change the experience. There are a ton of variables. People just have to find what works for them. At the end of the video I also describe some bikes that can fill those roles and I truly think you can keep even passed the beginner stage.
Great video! What you said about judge a bike only looking a few videos is wrong, that's totally true. I have exactly RS660 as you, but limited to 47cv(European new drivers restriction) with 4.000 km and any complain about it. If it was by following videos or memes nobody should buy an Italian motorbike haha
Thanks man!
Man, the stories with the GoPro! I’ve got hours of bad footage that I can’t upload to TH-cam! Love my RS660! Great video!
Thank you! Definitely sad 😂- I felt like I did decently well for the first time.
I got a new 2022 model last fall. 13,000 km and 10 track days later, I have had no issues. Anyone complaining about the brakes just has a problem on their bike (probably just need to bleed the lines), because in general they are good. I've had no brake fade during 30 min sessions on track where my tires are literally melting and I do a lot of passing by out-braking other riders. The bike handles extremely well and is a complete riot on the road or track.
As a dyna bro buy a Simpson helmet to look cool and lose your hearing at the same time 😂😂
I’m an old school kind of guy. Where I push the throttle and it goes I was super interested in this bike and the R7 till this bike had all this tech stuff but that’s just me 😂😂 fucking sexy bike
@@Jacobowitness yeah I’m not a crazy person for the tech so I just ride in race mode which disables everything lol.
@ in the words of the us Harley bros “hell yeah brotherrrrrr” 😂

Thanks mate, won’t be buying this one
Looking for my first bike I’m 6’4 198 pounds looking for my first bike don’t really want 300-400cc since I’m taller would I fit good on the rs660 or touno 660 don’t know what to get I’m also looking at r7 and ninja 650 and gxsr8r
I’m about 6’0 and 220. Pretty comfortable on the bike. Stay away for the ninja 650! It is not worth it. Very underwhelming experience. R7 and GSX would be much better.
@ what do you think of the cbr650r
@ kind of a money grab bike
Better off with an older 600
@@isaiahdcherry ok which would be the number 1 bike you would say for me to start on
Good tip ! Do you also add throttle while the clutch is in the friction zone or was it just purely clutch ?

@@isaiahdcherry Again, really beautiful bike man. Hope you have tons of fun, be safe!
Does the seat cover come with those winglets on the bottom now too? I know the stock actual seat has them but anytime I’ve seen someone replace the back seat with the cover with the 2 vertical fins it loses the 2 lower ones. I like what you have on there now
I started having more oil consumption past 20,000kms. She's eating about 200-300ml/1000km now. Had to top up 500ml to get a midpoint reading on the dipstick after 2000kms since my last oil change (Made sure the bike was level and oil temp high). My mechanic seems to think the consumption is abnormal, but I got an email back from the local Aprilia dealer saying 200ml/1000kms is "in spec". I saw one forum where apparently Gabro said it's a common issue with 660 engines that weren't broken in hard enough, which adds up since I got this one secondhand with the first service done. I was lucky I got an early booking for my 30,000km service because I didn't think it was eating oil that fast. I initially thought I just couldn't get a good read on the dipstick, but turned out there was only 500ml of oil left in the bike when they emptied it during service. Now I'm checking the oil every 1000kms and topping up when the dipstick reads the low bar. The price of Italian machines 🤌
Easy i will learn this on a Busa
Got a 2023 RS660 and never had any issues… I even bought it knowing about earlier model issues but someone in the know told me that newer models had improved. 7000 miles in and it seems they were right.
@@kinetymou it’s an amazing bike, I’ll be dropping a video in the coming days with the additional modifications I’ve done
Just know if you're in the passing lane, you better be passing. Because people like me do cruise at 100+ and come up on you... then i gotta pass on the right... it's going to be spicy.

Definitely your target audience for this. Last lesson didn’t go well with the clutch control, next lesson‘s on Monday and I don’t remember the last time I was this nervous
@@ettiquartz first time on a bike?
@@isaiahdcherry Yep, it‘s my 5th (?) lesson. I don’t have any problems with high or low speeds, corners, turning, whole nine yards. My clutch control used to be good in the first few lessons but the last one was just… ugh. I understand that it‘s something that‘ll get better over time, but god damn it still gives me the jitters. Tried practicing the motion of clutch release on a bicycle because I don‘t know anyone with an actual bike around where I live, anything to practice ig 😂🤦♀️
@@ettiquartz yeah it’s tough at 1st.. the best drill is definitely the stop and go with your feet on the ground. Then practicing adding throttle. The way I was taught was learning how to control the bike only with clutch which helped a lot.
@@isaiahdcherry Ah, my teacher straight up went to clutch & throttle. Though no matter how nervous I am and get, the excitement for finally being able to sit on a bike beats everything. Gonna see how tomorrow goes, I‘ll learn it eventually. Thanks again for the video man, massive help

@@ClutchFirst first 1k miles for me have been great
This was a top contender for me, but not a lot of Aprilia dealerships around. This is definitely one of the best if not the best in the twin 650 class, while the ninja 650 sits at the bottom with its dated engine. I went with a 4RR which was $10k before tax otd and 18 less hp at ~72. Now I wonder what a torquey twin feels like... especially since I started wheelie training on a torqueless inline 4 lol
Yeah I think the 4RR is definitely a good choice as well..that’s the hard part about Aprilias you have to be in the right location. I’m about 15 minutes from a dealer which is perfect.
