It’s great that Apple finally incorporated Reminders into Calendar app but still kept Reminders separate. Now they need to do the same thing for Notes app. For any contact, calendar or reminder that I have notes in the note field that note should also reside in the Notes app and whatever change is made to the Notes field it updates and sync with the note in the Notes app. This will remove the duplication of information because my contacts have a note and then when I create a reminder or event, I have to make a note also in those apps, and then the Notes app have a more detail note covering the same thing that the Calendar reminder and Contacts note fields may have. One note to rule them all. I’ll have to send this suggestion over to Apple as a feature request.

@@benscyberlife yes. I have tried that app and many others, they are not cutting cheese. Plus I love when I tap on a contact from the Siri search it shows almost EVERYTHING I have it have connected to that contact. Siri contact cards show birthdays, reminders, text communication, calendar events, emails, notes, pictures… I think it’s one of the BEST sleeper features that no one ever discusses. Siri contact cards info rocks.

Bear is an amazing and underrated notes app, I had the same experience than you, I don’t remember hoy much years I have been paying for Bear Notes app and it was my prime notes app until Notion and Craft began to be “trending” and I decided to jump to them just because FOMO and at the end, I felt enormous complexity for making everything that just made me feel I forgotten the simple task of notetaking. I even took all my notes out of bear to try fitting them into Notion and Craft, but at the end of the day, I had headache for all the unnecessary stuff they had for me. At the end, I came back to Bear after years and I’m really as happy as I used to be with my notes, kept Notion for my databases and stop paying for Craft (really overpriced)

Some tips/features for new Bear users: - Any heading and the content underneath it can be collapsed (and expanded) by pressing ⌘'. The cursor need not be positioned in the heading. It can be anywhere within that section. The expanded/collapsed state persists in other devices which shows the fantastic attention to detail by the Bear team. - Pasting a URL with some text selected in Bear will automatically link that text to that URL. - There are keyboard shortcuts for inserting date and time in different formats. - Possible to see backlinks - both manual and automatic and Table of Contents. - Notes can be tagged by dragging them into a tag in the sidebar. - Using the free Raycast and its free extension for Bear, we can search for notes using the launcher and open, create new notes, even do we web capture by pasting a URL. - OCR in images and PDFs. - Perhaps the most robust tagging implementation. Renaming tags is like magic. - Document scanner. - Has keyboard shortcuts for moving lines up and down beside the usual ones. - Apple Watch complication with voice-to-text transcription. - Notes can be searched using Spotlight. What I don't like about Bear: 1. No button to copy code blocks 2. No shareable web links for notes 3. No daily note with a calendar view

Other features worth mentioning are the ability to pin notes, the ability to add internal links to other notes (useful to create a dashboard), integration with Apple Shortcuts and Applescript. FYI, the View menu gives you the ability to hide the tags column and the Notes list with keyboard shortcuts. CTRL 1 shows only the Editor, CTRL 2 shows the Notes list and the Editor. CTRL 3 shows the Tags, Notes list and the Editor. I'm not connected in any way with Bear but I agree that it's a very nice note-taking app for all the reasons you gave plus the ones mentioned above. Microsoft has a reputation for abandoning products (so many windows mobiles or appliancations for instance). If they decided to discontinue OneNote you'll be having a nightmare migrating your notes. The annotation in OneNote is great however I wouldn't sacrifice MarkDown and Wiki link ability for that. Hope that halps Cheers!

In my opinion, the best feature Onenote has is its infinite canvas. If that's the main feature that made you consider Onenote, Affine is the best option I've seen out there. Google Docs has also added an infinite canvas feature that they call "pageless". Because of the Evernote quality dip and price hike, I've spent a lot of time researching my options and I've narrowed it down to the two that work the best for me (Affine and Anytype). I can make recommendations if I know exactly what features you're looking for.
