Nice job on this. I made a Soul Train reference today, and a Gen Z'er had no idea what I was talking about. This was a great piece to explain not only how the show was go good (the music and dancing, obviously), but also why the show was important. There is an entire generation of people who haven't had Soul Train on Saturdays, and that is sad.

Actually Don stepped down in 1993 as host but he did introduce the guest host up until around 1996-97 before there was a regular host.

@jasmineblackwell1992: Thank you so much for your comment :) While the Syndicated version may have premiered in October of 1971, the original Chicago television show was aired on August 17th, 1970 on the television station WCIU-TV. There are some direct references in the video desctiption.
