How to set up Liftoff for the ultimate freestyle FPV experience
So You have both Boxer and Pocket. Im currently using Pocket. Bought it as a starting point for sim thinking I'm going to give up it when I learn how to fly. Unfortunately, I liked it and am starting to think about my first drone. Of course, I am faced with the dilemma of selling the Pocket and buying a Boxer. I made some modifications, a spacer for the gimbal and longer stick ends for longer throw. Will I feel a difference in flying when switching to the Boxer? Honestly, mini gimbals and compact controllers like tango 2 or Zorro appeal to me more. However, both Zorro and tango have drawbacks in the way they are powered (fixed battery and nonsensical design choice (?) of powering Zorro via 18350 batteries). I cant just try other controles without buying them first... But Ive read stories when ppl swap full size gimbals for mini or nano pocket and they are happy about it.
Having both the boxer and pocket, (and also a tx16s, I find the pocket fine for small trips, but if I’m planning to bring more stuff and space/weight isn’t a concern I would bring the boxer. I personally like the larger gimbals, which gives med more resolution. I know people who prefer the small gimbals over large ones and vise versa. Ultimately, each radio feels different and there isn’t one radio fits all. As you stated you are not in a place where you can try other radios before you buy them, which I get as it’s the same for me, but if you can find any pilots nearby who has it, I would highly recommend you doing so. I chose to pick up the pocket without trying it first, but it’s also a lot cheaper.
@ Thanks.
I had the pocket for about a week have about 200 hours in a sim and couldn’t be any happier just recently upgraded the gimbles and was such a game changer makes it that much better
Do you use the standard stickerends with the ag01 as well?
@ yea standard although in future I might look into upgrading those too I been loving the stock ones note I’m a pincher when flying
nice, as a hybrid pincher i feel my index finger slipping of the side. hence why i changed to the other ones!. gotta check out the ao01's for the pocket as well it seems :) thanks!
You've had the pocket for a week and 200 hours in a sim? I assume 200 hours in general? lol ...not being a jerk, just threw me off lol
@ your good lol I ment to say a few weeks I got around Christmas when rotor riot had those crazy deals
Love my Pockets, I haven't touch another TX since I got them.
It is pretty nice!
What other controlers do You used and why You stick with the Pocket? @FPVisnotacrime?
Or you can do what most do and use small compact dji remote. Love building but anything that makes it easier is easy choice for some. Flying is awesome specially with new tech!
thanks for your comment! I meet very few people who use the DJI remotes for FPV drones other than the Neo/Avata. And i personally very much prefer to have the radio signal separated from the video signal. But yes flying is very fun!
could be cool to lower the music when you talk and not using audio ducker, like when you talk lower the volume, and when you show things put it up again, idk if you understand the difference
it makes sense :) i did use ducking, but i might not have used enough. thanks for the feedback, ill try it next time.
@@RaukFPV just my point of view, could ad more delay on the release maybe
It’s nice to get some feedback! Appreciate it, will try adding some more delay next time!
Physics settibgs pls
with the newest update they changed some things and i am working on some new settings. ill keep you updated
do you think the pocket is worth it as a first radio? thinking of getting one for simulators and maybe for FPVs later on.
Absolutely! As a first radio it’s perfect, is it’s very affordable, just make sure you get the ELRS version. And further down the line you don’t have to upgrade, if you don’t want
@@RaukFPV I was aware of the ELRS-thing! thanks for the recommendation, ordering one soon! might go for one of the Pocket Crushes, liking the colors more than the "boring" black :D
If they made an orange one I could be tempted, 😅 the crushes does look nice!
What do you think about another option like TBS Tango 2 with the rear module for ELRS?
one of my first radios was the tango2, and it was very nice, but I mostly prefer the internal modules. the tango2 is not a bad choice if you don't mind the external module
Nice lol dammit show my website next time I thought we were friends lol.... I'd go flying with you! One day! Keep up the good work buddy!
thanks!. I just opened the first page I found about the boxer. I might have a project I could use your help with :D ill let you know more over discord :) and if you're ever in Demark, let me know :D
@RaukFPV sounds good buddy, I'm just joking no problem
PS5 version needed! 🕹️
That could be nice! Does the fpv controllers work on ps5?
@ I found that it works with radiomaster zorro on youtube
how to connect the controller to my phone?
If you have an android phone you can use a direct cable. You might need a usb a to usb c adapter. If you have a iPhone and elrs you might be able to connect via WiFi joystick, though I haven’t tried that yet.
@@RaukFPV my controller is wireless and runs on batteries
Elrs have a wireless joystick mode which should be able to work with iPhones. You cannot as far as I know use a receiver directly in your iPhone,
you need to delete this video the info is unusable and outdated
Updated the title and description
Hi, may ask..dji fpv controller 3 can be used with this simulator? Tq : )
I’m not sure, sorry :/
what do you say about liftoff? over these sims
i have around 220 hours in liftoff, but since the last updates to Tryp and now Uncrashed, i dont start up liftoff anymore. i used to be my go-to simulator, but aside from the physics which are pretty decent in liftoff as well, i think the map editor in uncrashed is far superior, and the drone customizations are a lot better/advanced in tryp and better/easier in uncrashed. though i have to admit that i haven't used it very much lately, and since the last few updates, it might have gotten better than i remember.
The gfx look terrible. Does it play better than it looks?
i think the physics feel pretty realistic, and the map/track editor works smoothly. the graphics look good for an FPV simulator. obviously not on the level of AAA ray-tracing, but achieving that would require very powerful PCs. By the way, is there another FPV simulator you’re comparing this one to?
@RaukFPV not really. I own most just not this and it's on sale. None of them are great gfx wise but this looks like something from 20 years ago and choppy. Not so much the scenery but the obstacles
I noticed the obstacles use normal maps with relatively few polygons, which can make them appear somewhat flat. The lighting in this map also isn’t the strongest; lighting does vary between maps, and some areas look much better depending on the overall scene lighting. Because the simulator doesn’t rely heavily on ray tracing, the normal maps aren’t always highlighted as effectively as they could be. Regarding the choppiness, that may be due to my recording setup. I edited the footage at 25fps (since I’m in Europe and my camera supports 25/50/100 fps), but the recording itself is 30fps, so that discrepancy could cause a few dropped frames. On my PCs, the simulator usually runs at over 120fps, and this recent update has really improved the physics. Out of curiosity, is there a particular reason you’re looking for a different simulator?
@@RaukFPV I just like trying out different ones. I always seem to default to liftoff which has a good mix of physics and graphics. But none of them have it all. A lot of people recommended uncrashed since the new update as being a favourite
@@RaukFPV Ive just come across fpv logic, have you tried that one?
Nice to know thanks!
You’re welcome :) also if you are still up for the podcast, you can message me on either discord raukael, or via mail raukrae@gmail.com And thanks for watching :)
With the weather here being so bad I've been cycling through all my sims again. Was using fpv logic for the maps. But now this update been great!
Very much!
FPV Logic has been the only one that feels anything like real life to me physics wise, even velocidrone didnt do it for me. How would you say these physics compare?
@@itsjase92 they both feel pretty good. Both have spent a lot of time on physics and trying to closer to reality. I switch between them and fpvLogic for the variety. Buy them all one a month it's cheap 😅
gotta check out FPV Logic, at some point, its a little more expensive that the other options, but if the features and physics are as good or better than the others it might be fine.

@@RaukFPV thanks
They look the same, maybe nonstab is sharper so better
Thanks for sharing, I’m still debating whether the tiny loss in sharpness is worth the little extra smoothness.
In a quad like this with no vibrations is better the nonstab, it feels more real, the stab is needed where the flight is not smooth and shaky
That is very true!
been doing all the simulations I still don't get how to fly I don't understand how to go forward omg this is so overwhelming but not giving up!
In my newest video i have a small segment where I go over over how to fly for beginners. And as long as you don’t give up you can do it! THE FASTEST Way to Get Started with FPV Drones th-cam.com/video/Zei4KqLSObo/w-d-xo.html
Have you played the online drone simulator FPVSIM? I found it pretty realistic and easy to get started!
Hey, sorry for the late response. i am looking at FPVSIM, and going to make a video at some point. right now i want to use it for some time before i make a review.
Can you make tutorial settings for Tryp?
Will put it on the list, and thanks for the suggestion :)
Excellent video thanks a ton !

yep, 😒 just calculated it, and it comes our to 94 usd here where i live.
been flying TYRP for my avata 2...but keen to know your modded drone PID config too if dont mind sharing
sure, i would not expect it to fly at all like a avata 2, just keep that in mind. i have two, one for my 5" and one for my 2.5" drone, they fly very different. do you want both, or just one of them?
Thank you, definitely would like to know both since I have been checking 5inch drone too :) . Which drone do you fly more nowadays? :)
hey, havent forgotten about you, just trying to figure out how to send the custom drones in Tryp, as the pids them selves wont help much as they are made for the custom drones. do you have discord? i can send you the screenshots of the setup there. i mostly fly my cinewhoopos, as they are more used professionally. and when i do have some time i mostly just fly in my garden, and the 2.5" freestyle (quadmula djinn 25) is just better for that space.
Uncrashed - The devs of Velocidrone and Liftoff... are total 100 percent dlcks. Boy co tt them. I know, I've had negative interactions with both sets of them... when I tried to recommend a few minor simple 5 minute to implement in the code text color and button color style changes, that would drastically help visually impaired people. Basically, their reply was to the effect of... we made it perfect... just the way we like it... so F off little blind girl.... Literally, for example, in Liftoff, it would have taken them less than 5 minutes to do a search using the search box in their code editor, and change a button text color style from light grey text on white, to black text on white... maybe even bold it, while you are at it. I know, I'm a programmer.
That sounds super frustrating, I totally get why you'd feel that way. Accessibility tweaks like that can make a huge difference. Out of curiosity, what button was it? I'd love to take a look and see what you mean!
@@RaukFPV All the buttons in Liftoff have a thin font in light grey color, on top of a white background. For a visually impaired person, the white background blows out even black text... and makes it invisible. Much like if I took a sharpie and wrote word on a florescent bulb, turned the bulb on, and asked you to try and read the word on the bulb while it was blazing white light out. You would be like... wow... I can't read that at all... and it hurts to even try to. For a visually impaired person, at least for me, the world appeared much as it does to you looking out an iced over frosted car window on a winter day in the morning. You can see out, but you can't see. It's bright and it's blurry. If a person held a stop sign up to the window, you could read it, but as they back away down the street, they would disappear, the stop sign would become a red blur, then a grey blur, and then just blend and blur into everything else until it disappeared. And they wouldn't have to walk far for that to happen... half way to your mail box, for example. Still, I did my best flying while totally blind like this, to a big screen TV 2 feet away. You can watch some of my videos. Lots of guys copy my proximity aerobatic style now :-/ Of course, I explained all of this UI advice in a nice way, with easy ways to fix it... for example, swap the colors around on the buttons... to a black thick white text on a black or dark background... OR... if you want to go out... a tick box in settings somewhere to do just that... or even the whole nine yards... for a dark theme. Everything should have a dark theme, imho, for the visually impaired... it's way more helpful than all that Accessibilty features built into the OS which are practically useless. Dark theme everything (!) Uncrashed does the UI theme right... with a fast, easy to use, Dark Theme. It's also the best flying sim of them all out there, and I have them all and have flown them all. But they didn't have to go that far... just changing their light grey text color to black would have helped... changing it to white and the background to black would have helped even more. Probably just two Hex values in their code...
i get you, and just had a look, and i agree with you, the light thin grey font on the very bright/white background can be difficult to read, even for me normal-ish eyes. (they are not perfect, but close enough) and well, the font is in there, so if they wanted they could at least make a radio button, that sets a font variable to something different, in order to accommodate more people. Its not the first game to do this,. A lot of other games have settings for colorblind and and other impaired settings. as far as i can tell, liftoff is made in unity, and assuming they are using the textmeshpro, even my students can make this setting, in about 30 minuts tops. hope its something they will consider in the future.
@@RaukFPV I told them it's also impossible to read the menus and navigate them, when you use an HDMI to VGA adapter and plug your 480p analog goggles into your computer to "play the sim with the googles experience". At 480p, the thin lines of that thin font disappears. Either blind or at lower resolution, you're basically guessing from memory what buttons do from location... and what radio buttons and slider bars do in dialog boxes from location on screen. I know their interface looks pretty, gorgeous even... that was my thought when I first saw it... but after a while, you begin to realize how incredibly slow the game loads and how terrible the interface is, with so many tree structure levels you have to drill down. Uncrashed is wicked fast, loading and with the menus... it's dark themed, easy to read, and they did everything right. So I'm sure I said at some point look at how Uncrashed does it, they did it all right. Later on Uncrashed added a dialog box when chosing a map to also select from Daytime, Nighttime, or Snow.... which added an extra step and extra dialog box when chosing a map... and I was like.... NOOO! You're messing up the perfect interface! Nobody needs that radio button selection there, you could of buried it in the settings tab under the video display settings. It's a minor thing, but when a company starts going backwards in their design because they feel they need to keep up with the competition, then they start making all kinds of other bad choices by copying the bad design of their competition. I see it on my modern Honda motorcycles, they use to do everything right, and now they copy Harley and do almost everything on the bike... wrong.
i totally get what you're saying, trying to navigate those menus at 480p sounds like a nightmare. which completely defeats the point of having a "goggles experience". gotta say i dont have a lot of experience with simulator in goggles, using dji and all, i havent really found a good and easy way to set it up. hopefully they will reconsider in the future. or at least make it open to modding, so we could change it ourselves.
👍😉👍
😃😀

What does that mean?! 😀

Yeah please share it
Hi i wanna start fpv, what is a budget way to start?
i would start with buying a controller and a simulator. for controllers, id go with radiomaster pocket or boxer, and for the simulator, it depends. either Velocidrone or Tryp. then start by learning the basics and getting comfortable with flying, then you can better decide if you want to spend more money on the hobby. and if you do then decide on what system you want to head into.
@ on like ps5?
So from what i can find, it should work on a ps5. (haven't tested it my self yet, but i might.) Velocidrone is also available for phones, not sure if iphones support external controllers. but android does, i have a video on Velocidrone for phones.
Very nice 👌
Thanks! 😁

can you make a video how to use black box and tune the drone?
I do have a video on that, but I think I should do an updated video 😃
Nice ripping 👍😜👍
Thank you very much!
When you make the max fps to 30 or 60,you can make all detail and resolution at maximum😊(on my old zte handy☝️,,but my radio will not work on my phone😢)
Will try that! Thanks.

Der Bruder ist gerade aufgestanden😂
Thanks for the super useful tutorial mate
You're welcome.
what a bummer, no free version
It's a really great program and i understand why he would like to earn some money, on the other hand the software side like betaflight, bluejay, blheli32 is free. And the FPV drone community, isn't used to paying to for software. Gonna be interesting to see what the future brings.
I dont see anything on github. Is this strictly pay to use now?
Hey, it seems they removed the free versions unfortunately. So yes it seems it's only pay to use now.
I think they deleted all the old releases on github
you are correct it seems. i understand why he did it. but it would be great if there was a free version, with limitations
What a scumbag
