37's on the FZJ80 Land Cruiser with Stock Springs Part 2 - Snow Wheeling
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Today was about playing in the snow, and testing the 36x13.5 IROK's with stock springs using 1" front and 1.25" rear bump stop spacers. The plan in the long run with this build is to outfit all the typical goodies like bumpers, a winch, sliders, etc. and eventually upgrade the suspension to accommodate the extra weight, but for now I want to run my IROK's with stock suspension so I can have fun...
37's on the FZJ80 Land Cruiser with Stock Springs - Trimming Fenders & Bump Stop Spacers SD 480p

The plan in the long run with this build is to outfit all the typical goodies like bumpers, a winch, sliders, etc. and eventually upgrade the suspension to accommodate the extra weight, but for now I want to run my 36x13.5 IROK's that measure out to almost 37" so I can have fun this winter. It took some fender trimming and building custom bump stop spacers, but they fit and don't rub! facebook....

    Not sure if you still check this. If you do, what wheel are you using? Width, backspace or offset and are you running spacers?

    Do you sell the bumpstop spacers? I like your design with the rivnut in the perch and the flat head hex.

      Thanks for the feedback! We’ve done our best to provide the highest quality product possible. Both our Tie-Downs and T-Nuts are made from 7075-T6 aluminum. We’ve worked with our anodizer to source the best UV resistant dye possible. The zinc flake coated fasteners we use are the standard for corrosion resistance and the cyclic loading seen in this type of application. You’re right, there are definitely lower cost options out there, but we’ve tried hard to provide the highest quality product possible.

    Big help, I’m looking to get 37s on my Land Cruiser it also has stock suspension. But I was wondering if I could even mount 37s on stock suspension and this video proves it right with some bump stops and trimming little fenders works well. I’m also already planning on getting a 4inch lift, so maybe I won’t even need to trim fenders at that point. What do you think?

    I think I heard you mention running 6 psi.. I have a Bronco Raotor ordered with 37 12.50 17 BFG KO2’s on 8.50 wide bead lock capable forged factory wheels. But I’m not planning to run bead lock .. at least not initially. The Braptor weighs 5750lb.. do you have any advice for me regarding how low you think I can go air pressure (non bead lock) in the snow? Any other advice will be appreciated.

    How did you get 15” rims to fit on your 80?

    • @ruegs_21
      @ruegs_21 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were no clearance issues with the front axle but I ran as thin of a spacer as possible in the rear to clear the caliper. If I remember correctly it was a 3/16” thick wheel spacer. The spacer thickness when paired with the thinner steel wheels was almost the same thickness as the 16” factory aluminum wheels with no spacer, so the amount of threads used buy the lug nuts was close to stock. I still had to break the edges on the rear calipers to eliminate all rubbing but it only took a few kisses from a flap disc, no major material removal. I ran that setup for almost two years before upgrading to 17” wheels for a better tire size selection and wheel fitment.

      This is the proper approach to modifying a 4x4, nice work. Some people throw aftermarket parts and money at it then wish they didnt. Others, well... "You're ruining it" and "good luck". Haha some people are just brutal. Good luck and enjoy the 80. My hdj81 will be getting big rubber soon enough

    As little lift as possible with as big wheels as possible is the way to go in my opinion. A tall lift ruins the center of gravity, and makes it useless in off camber situations.

    There are these things, mysterious and foreign to most mere mortals but us propane bobtail guys up in the rocks use them two, three, twelve times a day, in the winter. They are called tire chains. PEWAGs are the best. The 80 series with 265/75R16s will clear the thickest of them easy and then you just don't need lockers in the snow or mud.

      I totally agree. I’ve got a lift, winch bumper, winch, and sliders in the shop ready to install. I’m the type of person that likes to get a feel for a vehicle in stock form so I have a frame of reference to compare it to after all the aftermarket stuff if added. This trip was to get a baseline before all the mods.

  • @TheSenorChavez
