Learn to Code with Me: Kattis "Tarifa" Problem in Python, C++, and Java
This is not meant to be an in depth coding lesson. It's more of a "practice along with me" to get more hands on experience. I assume some foundational knowledge of programming, but if not there are plenty of excellent and FREE coding instructors on TH-cam to check out.

Hi, can we do Similar steps for alkaline electolyzer ?
Dear Mam, how to solve the Allen Cahn and Cahn Hilliard equation for 2D and 3D BOTH. What is the exact equation for Allen Cahn and Cahn Hilliard for both 2D and 3D which I can use in COMSOL. And also, what are the parameters?
Hi, can you define, how to put counter-current flows and variable flow channels, I want info regarding the flow direction as well as type of flow channels. Thanks
I’m getting error as “Unknown function or operator : D”. But I have defined D in parameters1
How can you calculate the specific surface area?
How did you come up with the Algebraic formula? r2 = 2 * s - r1; Because I could only think of a for loop brute force approach.
it’s simple algebraic rearrangement of the provided equation, s =(r1+r2)/2.
Please upload video on a single bubble nucleation from cavity due to nucleate employing level field or phase field coupled with heat transfer fluid. Thanks. Your videos are awesome
hi madam please can you make video on single bubble inception from cavity due to nucleate boiloing employing level set method. Please madam it is earnest request. Thanks
great thanks for video..................only one important questions that puzzled me in this expression -cs*TxDs where Tx come from and what does T refer to?
Thanks so much for your helpful tutorial!!
Please tell some important points for electric field in capillary tube.
Thank you for the tutorial! Why is it that we described inlet velocity as a function of time? In the examples of Von Karman vortex street that I saw on books it is uniform flow. Thank you for your answer
hi how you doing. do you use the particle tracing laminar flow that generate random particles?
Thanks a lot, Jessica, your video is very insightful. Even though the flu was disturbing you but you managed to complete your tutorial effectively🥰
Thank you very much could we have related tutorial on the Stacks of the Fuel cell
Thank you for sharing, but it would be better if you could clarify from the beginning that following your steps will not yield the correct answer.
Hi Professor Jessica, I am Dr. Naeem Faraz from Shanghai. I am working on this problem. If I need to discuss or need your help, how can I contact you? Any email or whatsapp or we can have zoom meeting.
how to make the geometry of the taylor cone problem?
Hello, i love your tutorials, is there any chance of doing comsol tds on 3D with java programming (from inside the comsol gui ) ?
Hi, I am struggling with a problem, can you please tell me how to make periodic boundary conditions for discrete points for the truss in Comsol manually
I have some doubt would you sharing your email address ?
Can you make a video by changing materials please?
different materials will change the half reaction which is integral to the solution this specific module solves for. there is no simple way to do it. i have spent significant time trying this in the past.
@@JessicaHoffmanTutorials Do I have to set materials at the beginning? Because I found same graph using different materials.
When I add domains, Membrane and Anode GDE are not applicable. What to do?
this doesn’t provide enough specifics.
thank you very much for the video, a doubt can you design a drum type drying in comsol? could you explain me how please and thank you
hi thanks for watching! will consider for future video
Hey Jessica thanks for the tutorial, if possible please give a simulation video on laser keyhole welding or laser ablation
Subha did you got any source for laser ablation, please help if you found something as i am struggling in this.
Mam, Could you please share droplet parameter file mam.
Hello if we increase the temperature the program is not working and error occur. please tell us how to solve the problem
I can’t say without details.
Hello Jesica Currently in Germany, there are licensing issues regarding downloading software such as COMSOL Multiphysics. Could you provide any links related to downloading this software? I am aware of these restrictions and am seeking a solution, such as a trial version or academic license. Thank you.
Hi Osama, 👋 that’s not a licensing issue. That’s how it works because you didn’t buy the product. Do you go to a university with an academic license? If not then you don’t have an academic license. You can get a 2 week free trial from COMSOL sales.
Hi, I was trying to simulate adsorption with the module in Comsole. But it's as if the program doesn't read the adsorption at all and I'm left with a block at essentially the same concentration and it doesn't do anything for me
Hi 👋 without details it’s hard to say, but I would guess you’ve got an issue with your boundary conditions. Check any symmetry conditions especially. If those are all good check your units - do dimensional analysis. Also check how many time steps and size of steps for time study.
Hi Jessica, thanks for walking through this. One thing to note when writing out the ODE for mesh displacement. The variable "spf.vn" is NOT the phi velocity component. After some digging in equation view, I found the variable under the "Fluid-Fluid Interface 1" boundary condition. The variable "spf.vn" is the Normal Mesh Velocity at Boundary 11 - the droplet edge arc. Not to be confused with "spf.nv" which is different. The full expression for it is below, which amounts to the dot product of the quantity (velocity field vector on the down/inner side of the boundary - (mass flux scalar/density scalar)*interface normal vector) with the mesh normal vector. (Apparently XD) that gives the total normal mesh velocity in Comsol language. spf.vn = (down(u)-spf.Mf*spf.iNr/down(spf.rho))*spf.nrmesh+(down(v)-spf.Mf*spf.iNphi/down(spf.rho))*spf.nphimesh+(down(w)-spf.Mf*spf.iNz/down(spf.rho))*spf.nzmesh So I believe the ODE is a way of telling Comsol to track the instantaneous change of the mesh displacement as the total velocity at the point where the droplet meets the glass. Effectively as the simulation solves, it tracks the total mesh displacement by integrating up all those small changes over time. The two expressions used for Prescribed Mesh Displacements are written to link the geometry radius Rg to the initial placements of the droplet (at one multiple of R0) and the glass disc (at 5 multiples of R0). The initial width of the exposed glass disc is then 4 multiples of R0.
Hi thank you so much for the detailed response! I will pin this so others who watch will benefit.
Its possible to simulate von mises stress in a underwater drone?
Yes of course. Whether I’m able to do it is another question 😃
Its showing avoid inverted mesh elements please help me

Hi I want to simulate some nested cylinders that inner of them is a heat source. how can I do geometry of it? can you help me please?
Hi, 👋 geometry capabilities are documented in Chapter 7 of the Reference Manual, version 5.2a. Drawing concentric cylinders is as simple as drawing two cylinders and making sure to specify coordinates for them that assures they are concentric. Alternatively, you can use the "Layers" section of the cylinder settings
Thanks a lot@@JessicaHoffmanTutorials
Hey Jessica! Can you explain why u multiplied by 2 the p_laser? I mean how u got 2, before the p_laser.
Hi that’s a great question not covered in the background. It turns out it’s not trivial to derive this specific formula, but I found this excellent source to drill down into the maths to see where the 2 pops out: www.me.iitb.ac.in/~ramesh/courses/ME677/thermal_modeling1.pdf refer to the slide called Gaussian moving circular heat source and also the thermal modeling slide which gives the Gaussian distribution of laser power intensity formula.

Wonderful tutorial! Ms. Hoffman, Thanks very much.
Hi, thanks for the lesson! When I enter a1=k_ads*c*(Gamma_s-cs)-k_des*cs in the field, it writes "unknown variable cs". Because of this, the compute button throws an error. In addition, in the Flux1 field I have No,c written instead of J0,c. Please tell me what's wrong? I'm using version 5.1
