    To anyone watching this NEVER use Vaseline on components with rubber. The petroleums in it (Petroleum jelly) break down rubber. Use silicone grease instead, available at all auto stores. 👍You're gonna get leaking seal when it breaks it down... clutch/ brake fluid everywhere... corrosive shite all over your Duc 🤔👎actually I'm not sure that there is fluid behind that rubber boot but already use silicone grease anyway.

    With the termi slip ons, it would not require ecu or remap, is that correct? Thanks in advance.

    • @GTOAviator
      @GTOAviator 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Upmap is a lazy bit of software that simply flashes the stock ECU with a downloadable "racing" fuel/air map. It will run better with it but not 100% required. For a few bucks more, the RapidBike is a much better investment.

  • @muzglimy

    How does the 1200s feel in the city ? I’m a Brooklyn native and this is essentially my dream bike but I’m hesitant to get it cuz people say the weight, power, and size will be too much for NYC. I don’t care to “bring out it’s full potential” as I’m a pretty reserved rider. I also leave the city a lot. I don’t want it to be “annoying” lol. Would love to hear your thoughts !

    • @diyducati8252
      @diyducati8252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      muzglimy yea it is a big engine so the big detriment as a city bike for me was it doesn’t like being in low rpms and in summer the exhaust gets hot as hell, if you get stuck in traffic it gets super hot. I wound up going for the rninet which is a great city bike but different style, I’d say also try the 821 is you wanna stick to monster, it’s lighter and less hot with smaller engine. One you get out of the city the 1200 is awesome, great highway and twisties bike.

    • @muzglimy
      @muzglimy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      DIY Ducati ah I see, appreciate your input ! My 696 gets borderline too hot in the summer and lurches a bit in slow speeds. Can only imagine how the 1200 feels in the same situation lol

    I'm confused by the title because it says that you rode the Monster second, unless this channel belongs to the rider who wasn't recording. Which one did you like better? Seemed like it was the Speed Twin. p.s. why was the first rider on the Speed Twin rev limiting it? I'm thinking Cross Country wouldn't be happy about that!

    • @diyducati8252
      @diyducati8252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello sorry it was confusing, this was a demo ride of the speed twin not the monster. The monster was the second rider's bike. They are very different machines so not a fair comparison. Depends what you're looking for. The bike is a demo bike and has been broken on the concern of revving.

    • @bc67
      @bc67 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diyducati8252 No worries it was still a good video. I haven't seen those bikes together. Which one was louder and in your opinion sounded better? Yes, they are very different. The ST seems more like a bike that you ride on whereas the Monster is a bike that you kind of ride in.

    • @diyducati8252
      @diyducati8252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      bc67 I think you got that right. ST more on top and monster you sit in it more. Monster has more insane power and better handling as well as more sophisticated electronics and sport bike brakes. Also sound wise I don’t think any bike can compare to a Ducati with termignoni exhaust which the bike has. The negatives of the monster is it hates low rpm riding so can be a pain in the city and gets really hot in traffic. The bike feels really good ridden fast. The ST is an awesome modern classic and has a turnkey and go feel to it. The power is great, it’s light and nimble and would be great for city and curvy riding. The sound is actually really nice even with the stock exhaust.

    • @bc67
      @bc67 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if the 821 hates low rpm riding too. Totally agree about the sound of a Monster. Even out of the box they're the best sounding bikes on the road and I can always tell when one is coming. Agree about the Speed Twin exhaust too. I wouldn't change it. Same is true for the Street Twin. Have you heard an 821 with stock exhaust and be able to comment on whether it's louder than the Speed Twin? I am not looking for loud but do appreciate a great sounding bike, especially the thunder of a Ducati.

    • @diyducati8252
      @diyducati8252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      bc67 yes I have, a friend of my has the 821. It sounds great stock tho he promptly got the termignoni exhaust on it, the upmap that comes with it makes the bike run way smoother as well

      I don’t have a video but its a direct bolt on. I bought the mudguard used off a 2012 gsa and then looked up the parts fiche for that bike for the bolts needed, one of which is a special spacer. Then its just direct bolt on.

      DucLife tbh no the higher bars rizoma makes which are the ma008 I originally had or ma011 that replaced them are better for longer trips. The drag bars are ok for touring but I would get tired and are more for curvy riding and getting into a tuck in than ideal for distance

    How do you like the bmw over the monster?

    • @diyducati8252
      @diyducati8252 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it a lot. The monster was a beast, too much sometimes when you want to push it. Definitely a super capable bike though. The BMW is great for the city, almost same torque as monster so great from stoplight to stoplight. Simple bike, doesn't burn your thigh in city, just enough power where you can wring it out, great classic style and engine w character. For me I wanted something different from Ducati for a bit. Monster is a sick bike if you don't do any city riding and want the best performany. BMW if you want simple, classic looks, good power and smooth power.
