    seems a bit high on final. shouldn't be 300 agl when turn complete?

    Best tutorial so far, no one mentioned the runway headings, landing is a nightmare for a beginner like me but finally seeing how to match the headings will help paramountly, thank you so much!!

    Just tried this in sim and to be honest the simplicity of this without having to rely on the “the numbers” (just that initial height and initial speed) works very well. I’m actually much more likely to use the overhead break now - especially in multiplayer as it does give me a chance to get an overview on what others are doing when I’m on the downwind instead of using F10.

    fantastic move by CBT at 17:28 .. seeing the losing cues in that 2-circle early.. he extents just a bit with vertical FPS, and converts to a 1-c and goes vertical to my high six for shot .. cream shit ..at that point - i remember - i had to think twice about my re-entry and the follow up geometry.. i picked the decelleration and collapse of radius option.. almost got hit. THAT is how you fly a 16 .. sling-shot and bite with it .. rate-radius conversion with vertical it loves

    The overlaid music is top notch! Fantastic flight. I'm still battling with learning the correct AOA and E bracket on a straight in VFR landing 😆. Im a long long way from even attempting anything carrier related.

      Haha great! I’m glad the music worked out since this was more of an unplanned video while I came back from a sortie lol. And yeah, learning to fly aoa is tricky at first because it reverses the roles of pitch and throttle. I was there too, it gets better!!

    The opposite runway number is always the opposite heading. A runway number is always the heading, i.e. runway 33 is 330. So just add/subtract 18.

    • @Corsair8X
      @Corsair8X ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eric Mollenthiel what I do in the F-16 or any of them that have a gyro compass/hsi/compass-rose is when I get lined up with the runway during the initial overhead pass I glance down to see what number the “tail” marker on the compass is pointing at. Then I know the opposite heading without resorting to math or the F10 map. Example, in the default F-16 landing instant action, as you pass over the runway you will see the tail marker is at 13 so you know on your hud to look for 130 as you are coming around for the downwind.

      I use the track ir 5 with the track clip pro. it can sometimes be a pain in the butt to figure out what light is causing it to not work, but other than that it’s incredible. I would highly recommend it. VR is another option, but I wouldn’t recommend it for long sessions or if you have a history with motion sickness.

      @@jacksoncude9824 Thanks for your reply! The only really sad thing was (and I totally didn't expect this tbh) was that I, who never played BMS, was (due to A-10 player not showing up) matched vs a player who has loooots more F-16 experience, especially in BMS (he told me) :P And one can see in stream that his turns are way more fluent than mine :/

    It's 1500 AGL @ 350 knots. At halfway point down the runway you pull the nose up 1 to 2 degrees and bank your turn to hold 3 Gs. Pulling your nose up before rolling will assist in keeping 1500 AGL while in the bank. Roll out on the reciprocal and you should be 1 mile offset of the runway and maintaining 1500 AGL. Once speed drops below 200 drop your LG. When rear missile rail 45s the threshold you go "off the perch". Drop nose 20 and bank 45. Once lined up then deploy speedbrakes. Your time to landing should be less than 3-4 seconds. OHB is used to get aircraft in a pattern and on the ground quick. And never OHB over another runway. This should have been a right OHB.

    • @Teomoful
      @Teomoful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initial Approach: Align your aircraft with the landing runway at 1,500 feet above ground level (AGL) and 300 knots calibrated airspeed (KCAS). Overhead Break: Break left or right over the desired touchdown point, set throttle to about 80% RPM, and open the speedbrakes. Fly the break at about 70 deg of bank and 3-4 G. Align the HUD Flight Path Marker with the Horizon Line to maintain a level turn. Downwind Leg: Roll out on the downwind leg opposite the landing heading at about 200-220 KCAS and 1,500 feet AGL. Extend the landing gear and confirm three green gear down indications. Reduce speed as required to prevent excessive airspeed buildup in the base turn and trim to an angle of attack (AOA) of 11 degrees. Base Turn: Initiate the base turn when abeam the rollout point. You may estimate this position by starting the turn when your wingtip is at the end of the runway when viewed from the cockpit. Lower the nose to 8-10 degrees and fly the turn at 11 degrees AOA. Final Turn: Use your throttle to control airspeed while using the stick to maintain 8-10 degrees nose low and 11 degrees AOA through the turn. Roll out on final and raise the nose to maintain a proper glide path. The goal is to roll out in line with the runway at approximately 300 feet AGL one mile from the touchdown point. Align the flight path marker and 2.5-degree pitch ladder with the runway threshold to ensure proper glidepath while maintaining 11-degrees AOA. Short Final: When over the overrun, the portion of the runway before the primary surface starts, shift the flight path marker forward to a point 300-500 down the runway. Gently pull back on the stick to flare and reduce the descent rate but do not level off. Pull the throttle back to idle and touchdown with a maximum AOA of 13 degrees. More than 15 degrees during the landing roll-out may cause the speed brakes or engine nozzle to contact the runway so use gentle stick inputs to avoid overcontrolling the aircraft. Roll-Out: Maintain 13 degrees nose-up attitude for two-point aerodynamic braking until your airspeed has reduced to approximately 100 knots. Reduce back stick pressure and lower the nosewheel to the runway. Open the speed brakes fully and maintain full aft stick for maximum braking effectiveness. Apply moderate to heavy braking to slow the aircraft. Engage nosewheel steering when below 30 knots unless it is required earlier to prevent departure from the runway

    • @jacksoncude9824
      @jacksoncude9824 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the advice. also regardless of which way I broke, I would’ve overlapped a runway, so there were not many options other than just to use one active runway, especially in this case when there’s no other traffic.
