มุมมอง 3.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I make a Charcuterie Board from an old, solid piece of Hickory. To give the board a rustic appeal, I create sawn edges, and leave some of the live edge left over from the log. One element that makes this board different from others is the addition of carved leather handles.

Woodturning - Lathe + Chainsaw = Tree
มุมมอง 5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I came across chainsaw carvers utilizing their talents to create trees and thought it would be a great idea to try the technique on the wood lathe. The initial start to the wood turning ended in failure due to a very rotten piece of cedar but a nice piece of spalted maple saved the project. #twistedoak#woodturning#chainsawcarving

FYI, I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this vlog of sheath making, bc you’ve inspired me to learn how to make my own custom one. My 1st went to a Bowie Knife that no designs on it, but came out alright & plain. My 2nd one I’m currently working on is for my Machete I wear when ridin the Harley, & bought my first 8pc. Leather Tooling Set along with a couple 8 1/2”x 11” Genuine Leather Pcs + Wax Yarn(I used on my 1st sheath), all @JOANNs. Nothing fancy like ur SweetAzz Set, but I figured over time of adding this craft to the many other artistic mediums I do, from Tattoos to Canvas to Custom OldSchool Motorcycles, I’ll not only have more tools, but I’ll have had more experience & pieces. I’ve already got a friend who gave me his Coleman 4 3/4” Blade/ 4 1/4” Handle to make a Sheath for. All of the Artistic Hobbies + Pieces I Custom make, I’ve got a bunch of Un-Edited Footage that I’ll eventually start putting ea. Project’s Videos together & Uploading to All of My Social Medias. Till then they’re still private. But one day when you see the vid of me making my 1st Knife Sheath, I gave Your Channel a “Shout-Out” as to the person who was My “TH-cam University Professor” that helped inspire me to learning “How to Make” one of the pieces to My Custom RockaBilly type Style lol…If U Read This, Thank you

Turning an unbalanced piece without using the tail stock is a VERY bad idea... and a great way to find yourself in the emergency room getting reconstructive surgery... Probably safe to assume this guy doesn't wear a faceshield as well.

I have made several guards, but I have always used brass. Copper is so soft that it easily scratches after it's polished, and brass is a lot harder and holds up better. The upside is you can polish out dings and scratches a bit easier on copper. I've never done aluminum but may try that next.

I enjoyed this video, but would have liked some verbal tutorial ~ such as: Is there available a specific tooling pattern?? What are the sizes?? Was that antiquing you painted on and immediately rubbed off ~ if not, what was it?? What weight leather did you use?? It appeared 8-9-10 oz??
