I love your mushrooms. I turn gnomes and my wife says they mushrooms for their houses.

Nice job. Like the twist on doing shrooms. I love to do them on the lathe. Great patch effect.

Just shows what you can do with a little imagination. Great workmanship.

Truly amazing watching you work. I never would have attempted hot gluing (I guess that's what you did) that limb onto the block in the lathe. I would have expected to get hit in the face. I own a tree service and would love to be able to recycle trees into works of art like these. I love your leather work vids too. Great job. Amazing.

Hey Kevin! Thank for checking out my other videos. The hot glue actually works very well for holding small pieces. Of course if you work the tools too hard into the cut there is always a chance of breaking bond and flinging the piece, but thats what face shields are for.

Scrolled down to the comments to make the same remark about the hot glue. Interesting to see that work and hold, takes some cajones to attempt that, but I suppose with a small enough piece, it won't hurt that bad if it flings off the lathe.

I tried this. But after a month the wood started splitting. How do you keep this from happening?

These are my best sellers…about 5 minutes on lathe and sell for 12-15. the uglier the better. Sometimes change axis a little for some wonkier stems.

Beautiful work, thanks for sharing. I just started turning mushrooms and decided after seeing this video I was going to try it. Do you use dry wood for your projects? All I have is wet wood and keeping it from cracking is hard. Any suggestions? Thanks again for the cool idea

Thank you! Most of the wood I use is dry. A lot of it is cracked and punky so I use CA and resin to stabilize. You can use an end grain sealer such as Anchorseal or even latex paint to seal up the ends to limit cracking/splitting.
